Cap walked in to the meeting room, drying off his face with a hand towel. “You know for an archer that lad isn’t half bad at hand to hand combat, now that he’s had some training that is.”

“Where is the bow-monkey now Cap?” Asked Dane.

“You just missed him; he had to take a plane back to the West Coast. Still I think those moves I’ve been teaching him these past couple of weeks should help his flexibility,” replied Cap. He suddenly noticed the tall woman with the starched business dress, sensible shoes and serious look. “Excuse me, I didn’t see you there. Miss…?”

“The fair maiden is named Carol, she fares from thine delightful space people agency,” said Herc helpfully, laying a massive arm about her shoulders.

The woman looked implacable, casually removing his arm from her shoulder. “Captain America, I am Carol Danvers, formerly Air Force Colonel Danvers, and now Security Chief for NASA.”

Cap smiled, “sounds like I should be saluting you Danvers,” he said, throwing her a half playful salute.

Danvers returned the salute smartly, either she didn’t notice the joking tone or chose not to. She was obviously a woman of discipline. “I’m here on a mission of national security, if you gentlemen would please sit?”

The men sat as she prepared the briefing, Hercules harrumphing loudly and putting his sandaled feet up on the table, a fact Danvers ignored.

“Three days ago we sent up a shuttle on a simple supply run to the international space station. Everything seemed to have gone well, the shuttle landed safely yesterday. There was just one problem; it wasn’t the shuttle we sent up. In fact we have no idea where this shuttle came from,” explained Danvers.

This caused some murmurs around the table and the team sat up straighter, this had their interest now.

Danvers allowed it to set in before continuing. “The shuttle bore NASA markings but its design was like nothing we have ever put in the air, the parts are stamped with a company name we have never heard of. Most striking of all was the crew, men who all claimed to be NASA astronauts, and indeed passed a lie detector test, but we have no record of any of them existing, let alone being NASA.”

“This is all very distressing Miss Danvers, but where do we come in?” asked Cap.

“I have volunteered to take another shuttle up to the space station and investigate,” explained Danvers, “NASA has agreed on the condition that a crew of…specialists accompany me. Normally this is the type of thing X-Factor would handle but the world from official channels is they’re currently occupied elsewhere. So how about it gentlemen, would you like to touch the sky?”

<A shuttle craft leaving Earth orbit, seventeen hours later>

“Carol, I didn’t think you got turbulence in space?” asked Black Knight from his crash couch.

“You don’t,” replied Danvers, checking her instruments, “whatever that was it wasn’t normal. Wait, we’re coming up on the Space Station…what the hell?”

Cap looked out at the Space Station that they were preparing to dock with, “What’s wrong?”

“The station is, “replied Danvers, “it’s not ours.”

As they stepped through the airlock and crunched ice under their feet, the station was very cold and very dark.

“This isn’t good,” said Danvers, “no-one without a sealed suit could be alive on here with the life support systems turned off.

“That rather depends on your definition of ‘life’ flesh-pot,” said a cold metallic voice.

They swung their lights to see a large mechanical man standing in the control room, he had been standing so still and quietly that they hadn’t registered him.

“A racism typical of the disgusting organic virus that is man,” said a second robotic voice.

They panned the light again and saw another robotic form sat in the control chair.

“Where are our astronauts?” demanded Captain America.

“I’m afraid they found our frozen and airless headquarters rather difficult to adjust to, but we helped them to adapt,” replied the seated robot, in surprisingly mocking tones.

There was a whirring and buzzing noise as what remained of the astronauts came in to the room. The humans parts hard to recognize amongst the wires, gears and treads.

“You sick…” began Danvers, the Avengers readying weapons behind her.

“No no my dear,” said the standing robot, “they were the disease, and we are the cure. Prepare to be treated.”

"Avengers! Keep those things busy whil I try and figure out what's going on." Caro Danvers ordered.

"Nay woman!" Thou must hide so thou dost not get hurt." Hercules said.

"It's Ms. Danvers to you. And are any of you qualified to work this equipment? I didn't think so."

With that Carol turned and went towards some of the communication equipment, seeming unconcerned about turning her back towards the fight.

"You heard her Avengers. Move out!" Cap Commanded as he leapt towards the fray.

The Avenger followed suit with Thor flying forward and quickly disabling one of the cyborg crewmen.

"Take out the crew first but try not to hurt them." Cap ordered as his shield slammed into one knocking it out cold.

Hercules followed suit and soon the third crewman was unconscious.

"You may have defeated your kind but you'll lose to us." Metallo hissed as he grabbed at Cap.

Just as he was about to connect, however, the Black Knight came zooming by and pulled Cap up onto his steed. "Need a lift?"

"Thanks Black Knight. Now let's get the other one."

Braniac saw them coming and laughed. "You think you can defeat Braniac with your mixture of archaic weaponry and pitiful flying equipment? Arrgh" Braniac screamed as the blade hit home.

"Maybe my sword isn't as arcahic as you think."

"Aye. The Knight's sword be powerful. Almost as powerful as Mjolnir. But let us let this monstrosity judge for himself who hits harder." Thor bellowed as he flew forward and Mjolnir slammed into Braniac

Well it looks like it's time to push.

1. Captain America will push to attack the Wild Sentinel in I16. 10 on a 15. Roll is (1,4). Hits but juussst barely. 1 after toughness to the Sentinel which KOs it and 1 to Cap.

2. Black Knight will push to carry Cap out of Metallo's reach and Charge to K14, L14 attacking Braniac. Cap is put in K15. 10 on a 16 to hit Brainy and Black Knight will also unsurprisingly use his Exploit Weakness here. Roll is (6,3). Hits. EW cuts through his imperviousness but since nothing else is reducing the damage LMD activates and Braniac only takes 2. 1 to the Knight.

3. Continuing the push idea Thor will RS to P15 and continue the assault on Braniac. 11 on a 15. Roll is (4,4). 3 damage after toughness but no Knockback due to Cap. 1 to Thor.

4. And since I have 4 actions why not go all out. Hercules will push to attack the remaining Cyborg. 10 on a 15. Roll is (1,6). Hits for 3 after the LO and toughness. The sentinel is down and Herc is pushed.
