Crisis Pt. 4: The Ruining of Time & Space (Win a Case of Collateral Damage!)
This week people have been tearing into their brand new brix and cases of Collateral Damage. Most people are pretty pleased - it's a great set - and then there are people who are still wanting just that one more missed figure to complete the set (or maybe you're like me and still don't have any). Well, here's your chance to win a FREE case of Collateral Damage (which from what we've seen is pretty much the same as winning a complete set of non-LE's!).
The Crisis contest is entering part 4 but it's not too late for the Multiverse or for you to win that case....clix "Replies" below for more information and a chance to win that case!

2. To enter the contest, send your answers to [email protected] and then post on this thread that your answers have been sent (this will give a time-stamp of sorts to prove to people that you fairly submitted your answers). The Subject of your email should include your HCRealms ID name so that I know who deserves credit for the answers. This is bolded because, frankly, a lot of people aren't doing this and I will not grade your answers until you meet this requirement. Sorry to be so strict, but I feel it's only fair to those that pay attention to the rules (and, besides, I've reiterated it multiple times now).
3. Points will be given for each correct answer - close/justifiable answers can earn partial points (judge's discretion). A caveat here - with so much on the line I'm going to be fairly strict on what I accept (e.g. - I need pretty specific answers, so you can't just list a character's title for when they first appeared). On the other hand, there is no penalty for incorrect answers so don't be afraid to try answering a question - you might just end up getting points.
4. Winner will be determined by the highest total score. In the event of a tie - easily possible with the relatively small number of questions - the winner will be determined based upon time of answer submission, so it's important not to wait until the last minute.
5. The winner of Part 4 will receive a copy of the TPB for "Crisis on Infinite Earths". I may end up giving out more prizes depending on participation. Note that there is a "bonus section" to this week's contest with a different sort of prize - bonus points towards your final Crisis score.
6. Each person who participates this week will receive a final score. 75% of that score (rounded up) will be added to your on-going total score for the Crisis contest. Bonus points to add to this score are obtainable via "bonus sections" of each week's contest. The person with the highest final ongoing score at the end of the final Crisis contest (the big one at part 5) will be the grand prize winner of 1 case of "Collateral Damage".
7. I reserve the right to make alterations to the rules or contest - within a fair context - if the need arises. Unlikely to happen but I prefer to list a caveat just to be safe.
8. Please no plagarism. While I understand and expect information will be gathered from various websites, I want the answers - when appropriate - to be in your own words (i.e. - don't just cut/paste paragraphs). It only takes a few seconds more to answer the question yourself instead of using someone else's words and work.
9. Play fair and have fun, folks. I'm a private entity here - I'm not associated with Wizkids or HCRealms. I don't own a comic or gaming store. In other words, these prizes come completely out of my own pocket and I'm not getting a break on their prices. Not saying that to pat myself on the bat but just to remind folks to go easy on me and their fellow participatins as we're all in this to enjoy ourselves, learn some comic history and win some fun prizes (well, I won't win any prizes but you know what I mean).

2. The Spectre’s failure to stop the Anti-Monitor at the Dawn of Time was one of his two big failures that led to a serious de-powerment of the character. What was the other great failure (as deemed by the Voice served by the Spectre)? In what storyline did we witness that failure?
3. Which three villains argued about smashing Krona’s experiments in CoIE and what happened to them?
4. Seven electrical characters, four magnetic characters and three robotic ones were shown transporting the heroes and villains through to the Dawn of Time and Oa in CoIE – who were the characters?
5. Which Golden Age character was featured in Alex Ross’ first DC story? The story featuring this character could be considered to parallel – in storytelling-style – to which Japanese story (that was also a fantastic Kurosawa film)?
6. Regarding quantum physics, what is a Roman ring and how does it relate to time travel?
7. On what day (inc. year) did HUAC cause the disbanding of the Justice Society of America?
8. Which multiple earths are represented on the cover to the first “Crisis on Multiple Earths” trade paperback?
9. Jonah Hex was not known for having any friends but he was commonly stated to always travel with which two companions?
10. When the Justice Society and Justice League traveled back to assorted eras to rescue the Seven Soldiers of Victory, they left a poem with Genghis Khan. What was this poem (I’m looking for the full verse, not just the name)? This poem was related to which character in what way?
11. In the Justice League episodes “Savage Time”, which classic World War II heroes allied with the Justice League? During those same episodes we saw a Timely “cameo nod” to which hero (describe the “nod”)?
12. Monitoring the earth’s crisis fires from space is done in part thanks to a program that shares a name with which Swedish pop group? What does the acronym stand for in regards to the tracking program?
13. Drew Carey and friends – on his sitcom – were horrified to find out which popular “interactive with drag-costumes” show had been replaced by showings of “The Adventures of Priscilla Queen of the Desert”? This led to a “dance off” between which two songs (one from each picture)?
14. Take 5 Heroclix pieces representative of key figures in the Rann-Thanagar War, sum up their pt. totals and multiply by the number of published Rann-Thanagar War issues (not counting “crossover” issues – just the ones with that title) to get this total number that is key to Albert Einstein and our understanding of space-time science. (I’m looking for the 5 specific figures, the “math work”, the final number and why it is important – yes, this question is also worth a fair number of points if you get it right. =) ).
15. Bill Willingham – scribe of the “Day of Vengeance” titles – did his first work at DC comics illustrating a story featuring which character?
16. What time eras did the Justice Society and Justice League travel back to in order to free the members of Law’s Legionnaires?
17. What tapes – recorded by Harbinger – were featured as “bottom bars” during the Spectre’s battle with the Anti-Monitor and what future crossover did these tapes lead to?
18. According to “End of an Era” – the last pre-Zero Hour Legion stories – who was the Last Legionnaire (looking for both “real name” and the identity he/she used as the Last Legionnaire)?
19. The Crisis in Time saw a few old familiar faces pop up in DC comics, including which Golden Age butler of Batman and Robin? Along those lines, for what Metropolitan newspaper did Kal-L work for and who was his editor?
20. Which of the following characters have been known by the identity Manhunter:
A – J’onn J’onzz B – Dan Richards
C – Kate Spencer D – Lana Lang
E - Paul Kirk F – Nancy Reagan
G – James Gordon H – Mark Shaw
21. Which characters have been harnessed to Alexander Luthor’s device that enables him to channel energy from the “cosmic storm” at the center of the universe?
22. What did Jonah Hex believe the Monitor’s satellite to be when he first encountered it?
23. When Tommy Monaghan and Natt the Hatt had their own time-travel adventure which “prehistoric villain” did they face and which laboratory brought that villain (admittedly inadvertently) back to modern era Gotham City?
24. Speaking of Tommy and “time travel” in a story told in Tommy’s future we find out only two cast members survive into the future – who are they?
25. Adam Strange’s pulp predecessor – Flash Gordon – was played in the serials by which Olympic gold medallist? How much did he get paid for playing Flash Gordon?
26. Speaking of people with Strange names and Flash Gordon – which actor played a role in the Flash Gordon serials but is better known for a Western role that shares a common name and title with a main character from which long-time 80’s sitcom (basically, I’m looking for the actor, his Western role and the 80’s sitcom)?
27. The Monitor’s features were first fully reviewed in which World War II based comic? The main character from this title would go on to head of which government agency?
28. Who are the three known members of the Love Syndicate and where do they currently live/exist?
29. Which heroes and villain traveled to Apokolipse to ask for Darkseid’s aid against the Anti-Monitor and what are their current status or relation to the modern Crisis events?
30. Freebie Question again! This time though you might want to put a lot of thought into the question. The reason why? Well, it’s open-ended. =) The “question” is for you to ask me your best Crisis-related question (and as you’ve seen from these contests that can be pretty open ended). The best questions will be worked into the Final Crisis which means if you get a question in there, well, you just might get a crucial point or two to push you over the edge towards that case of Collateral Damage.
Bonus Section: As before, there is a Bonus Section to the Contest with the prize being bonus points towards your overall Crisis score. Some folks have been doing these and some haven’t but let me give you a hint: scores have been really close and it’s coming down to tie-breakers and bonus points pushing people into the top spots. This week’s bonus section is fairly light in comparison to the Final Crisis which I will warn you now is going to be pretty detailed and worth a lot of points (enough that you might want to think of it as a “required section” as the bonus points will be scored a bit differently for it). In the meantime, here are the Bonus Point breakdowns for Part 4’s Bonus Section:
First Place: +6 pts
Second Place: +4 pts
Third Place: +2 pts
And the question: Let’s pretend that you’ve become a writer for DC comics. It’s been suggested to you that with all the upheavals going on in the DCU, this is a great time for you to pitch that series you’ve always wanted to write. Pitch that series to me! (Note that I’m leaving this fairly open-ended – you can get as detailed as you want (inc. characters, early plots, etc.) or leave it fairly sparse but “charismatically worded”…it’s all up to you but remember that the better the presentation (which may or may not mean detailed – really “better” is subjective depending on the job done) the more chance of getting those crucial bonus points).

Erk. Getting senile in my old age. I combined this question with one from Final Crisis. It should read....
14. Take 5 Heroclix pieces representative of key figures in the Rann-Thanagar War, sum up their pt. totals and multiply by the number of existing parallel earths at the time of the battle between Spectre and Anti-Monitor at the Dawn of Time to get this total number that is key to Albert Einstein and our understanding of space-time science. (I’m looking for the 5 specific figures, the “math work”, the final number and why it is important – yes, this question is also worth a fair number of points if you get it right. =) ).
My sincerest apologies for this folks (though looking at the number of "views" so far it shouldn't have messed up anyone too much).
As for ending on a Sunday, I admit part of that is because it works better with my upcoming schedule but more because I thought that gave folks two weekends to find the answers. If it looks like Sunday is going to be a problem for too many folks though I may be willing to change it.

What do we do if the figure is an REV(LE) set? Are we supposed figure out which figure from the set is supposed to be put in the equation?
Question on No. 20 - Um, how is that being scored? I mean, on all other questions, we're not penalized for guesses. If we guessed all of the above on that one, we'd be able to get the right answer as effectively as a vice president can hit a the broadside of a lawyer (we can do that, but that doesn't mean it ain't wrong).
We need Sand. And Sandman. And even Sandy the Golden Boy.

Basically, if you get all the right answers without adding in wrong ones than you get full points. If you add in wrong ones, your points will be "subtracted" for each wrong one but you can't go into negatives or even below "1 pt" so long as you got some correct answers (I know that's a bit different than usual but consider this one of those "adjustments" alluded to in the rules to make things more fair. ).

What does Monitor's features mean? His base? His face? What accessories he comes with?

inc. year = including year
Our earth
Previous to that appearance, we would only see the Monitor in shadow or just say, a hand or other random body part at a time. The issue in question is the first time we fully saw the Monitor.
