Last year Gargantua and FlyingIcarus paired up 22 of Marvel and DC's best teams to determine the best 300 point team in the game. Now, after Mutant Mayhem and Legacy releases we're decided to try it again---for 500 points teams. And with round 1 under our belt, we now have Fantastic Forces, Icons and Armor Wars to choose from as well
Rules are simple:
***All eligible figures in a team must have the team logo on the base (ex. no Flash for JSA)
***Only the highest or lowest point figure can use the ta (depending on the ta). This is so the game is less about the ta, more about the team.
***We've chosen not to use feat or battlefield condition cards
***Total points of each team must range between 490-505
Well here we are. And in the end, it's down to The Fantastic Four and the Avengers. And may the best team win.
I'm going on the assumption that Flyingicarus is going to take the Avengers as his preferences are well documented. And I am only to happy to play the FF, a longtime sentimental favorite. So here goes. No change to my team from last time. It worked for me then, and there really still aren't that many options, unlike with the Avengers, so I don't mind posting first.
E Mr. Fantastic (FF) 62
R Invisible Girl (CT) 37
V Thing (FF) 128
V Human Torch (FF) 102
E She-Hulk 110
U Crystal 62
"Pizza? We're fighting over pizza?" the Thing laughed.
"Personally, I'd prefer Thai, but I suppose pizza's fine. Franklin and Val would prefer it," Sue said.
"They're flush from their victory over the Defenders and so issued the challenge," Mr. Fantastic explained. "Norrin has asked us to avenge his honor."
"That doesn't sound like the Silver Surfer," Crystal admitted.
"Maybe he's finally figuring out a sense of humor," Johnny said from the couch. "I say bring 'em on! We'll wipe the floor with them. An' boy they don't know what they're getting themselves into. They've never seen Benjy eat. If someone else is paying, Ben could break the budget of a small European country."
"Ha ha, matchstick," Ben scoffed.
"We're glad to have you fighting on our side," Sue told the She-Hulk. "Since after all, you have held membership on both teams."
"Yeah, well, the Avengers have got like about a zillion members to choose from. This is a more elite group," She-Hulk laughed.
"Well, we'd best get ready," Reed said. "We have our honor to defend, and Ben's stomach to fill."
Choosing appropriate Avengers teams is tricky. I really liked the classic roster I'd picked last time. I figure I'll keep that roster, with a change or two, just to match you (since the FF have so few options). To be sure of a win I'd be better off choosing figures with higher attacks and tkers but I'll go with this:
Captain America (AW) E 90
Iron Man R (AW) 89
Vision 112
Scarlet Witch V 40
Black Panther R 27
Quicksilver E 62
Hawkeye (FF) V 84
"I can't believe Wonder Man had to leave. What is a 'casting call' and how important can it truly be?" Quicksilver groans.
The rest of the Avengers laugh but the Vision replies matter of factly, "It is a function of acting, Pietro, which allows the actor to audition for a role."
"I only hope that Vision and I can be suitable replacements for this exercize. Personally I have mixed emotions about taking on the Fantastic Four, even for fun," the Black Panther adds.
"That's right," the Scarlet Witch responds thoughfully, "You're first adventure was with them, wasn't it, T'Challa?". The Panther nods.
"Well, I just hope that we're all up for it after the Defenders melee," Iron Man says.
"Hey, I already worked up an appetite for pizza once, seems unfair that Beast had eaten it all before we got to it," Hawkeye says.
"Then we have something to work for, Hawkeye. If only all of our battles were over pizza, what a world that might be. Are you ready friends? Avengers Assemble!" Captain America says.

"Captain. My intangible form would serve as a perfect a look out as Quicksilver's running skills. I suggest my moving forward for an initial response. My synthezoid body will be best suited for any attack the Fantastic Four may present," the Vision offers.
"Great idea, Vision," Cap replies, "And Panther?...". He turns to see the Black Panther long gone.
"What about me?" Quicksilver groans, "I could get a clear view of positions and...".
"No, Pietro. The Vision is right. Let's hold you back for now, he can respond to a threat better than you at this point. Plus your wife is with the FF, I wouldn't want to see your judgement clouded."
Personally I love Crystal but you're right, she's sort of the lost ex in these games.
And here we go again, new game same defense. Hey if it works...I assume EFG7-8 are not hindering, right?.
Hawkeye uses rs to N18/19 and attacks She-Hulk. Needs 5, rolls 4. Wanda's reroll is 6. She-Hulk takes 1.
Iron Man carries Cap to H13, he's I14.
