I think this question has been answered a bazillion times on here, and I'm a little curious as to why it isn't in the FAQ, but oh well.....
Say I have a shape change character, such as Clayface. An enemy figure charges from 3 squares away, to attack him. I roll a 6 on my shape change roll.
What happens?
My personal opinion is that since the Charge action is a non-free action, it is the action that gets redone, so they go back to their original space on the map, and must choose another action instead (or perhaps another target to charge)
On the other hand, there's the possibility that he has to stay there, in base to base contact, and do nothing, calling the move nothing more than a move action.
On yet another hand, there's the possibility that he has to breakaway from Clayface now instead of attacking.
This should be much simpler than this, but for some reason I'm just not coming up with an answer myself.....

The way I've played it is that BEFORE I charge or running shot or whatever move and attack power I may be using, if my intended target has a power such as shape change, the shape change roll is made to see if I can attack that fig. If I can't then no action has been taken so I am free to do something else.
The reason for this is that if the fig with shape change makes it's roll then it's not a valid target and my intended action is illegal. However I have been searching the WK Rules forum and the posts I have found have all said that the movement part of the action occurs first, then the roll is made. If the roll is successful then the attack cannot be made. IF there were another fig adjacent at the end of my charge I could attack that instead, and if there wasn't, I would be stuck there.
So I guess it comes down to when do you make the roll for shape change? Before the action actually happens but is declared, or after the move part of the action but before the attack?
Here's the link to the thread I found. It's kind of old so the rulings might have changed.
No, it's still quite correct (I believe, I didn't actually read the thread). Shapechange says this:
Quote
SHAPE CHANGE: When this character is chosen as the target of an attack, roll one six-sided die. On a result of 6, the attack cannot be made. The attacker must choose another target or take a different action with that character instead.
(bolded for emphasis)
The roll is not made until the character becomes the target of the attack. This does not happen until the actual attack is declared. In the case of RS or Charge, this happens after the movement portion of the action.
With hypersonic speed if they get SC can you runn away (if you still have move squares left) and attack someone else
Yes. You are allowed one attack during hypersonic. If the shape change roll is made, there is no attack. The hypersonic character ignores other figures for movement, so the figure may continue moving and attempt to target someone else. Note that if it is a non-flying hypersonic figure that stops in hindering to make the attack, it may not continue moving and is stuck.

Actually, a non-flying HSSer that enters hindering terrain cannot make an attack after entering the HT. HT ends movement immediately. The attack is during the HSS movement. Since the character is no longer moving, they cannot attack.
