Man that is one of the troubles that i go through wenever i use the V Kabuki. It is a tough decision and should be thought out well. There would be two ideas to this:In the past have you rolled good bcf rolls with this figure or just in general, OR go with the mathmatical thought and think, hmm. if i go for it i have a 4 out of 6 chance to get a 3 again or HIGHER. See i personally always go for it since i always seem to get 5's and six's with kabuki and my captain mako....but not with spidey 2099! Tough decision and you are either going to be kicking urself in the ### or your going to be holding that LE prize at the end of the night and saying "Man am i lucky!"
We've all faced this decision one time or another.
Your going to roll for an attack and can't decide to use blades / claws/ fangs or just use the 3 damage on the dial.
I'd like to find out (truthfully) what players do.
I'm a bit of a fuddy - duddy and usually play it safe and go for the 3 damage.
If I have a probability control figure in LOS I'll go for the roll.
Or if I have to put a dent in a big figure I'll take my chances.
We've all said it....
"C'mon ................ SIXES BABY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "
If I know 3 damage will do what I need (like knock an Outwitted Supes off his HSS), I'll stick with the base damage. However, I really like to use my powers; I am paying for them after all I usually roll BCf - no guts, glory!!!
Like you said... if I have some prob on hand, I will go for the Blades... if I'm trying to hurt an imperv/invuln figure, I'll most likely go for the no guts no glory!
Sadly, I can't tell you how many times I've rolled 1 and then 1 on a flurry blades attack with Unique Spiral... and it's usually on a figure with toughness no less!! :disappoin
As far as I'm concerned, Prob and blades go to gether like peanuts and m&m's...
if the character has Invulnerability I use the 3 other wise I always roll the blades. I also roll the blades for impervious; Heck you need luck to get through it anyway, might as well go big.

If I'm playing Spiral or Morlock Leader I have to play a probability controller.
Then the question is..... when do you reroll your damage? If you hit for 2 on the first roll do you then reroll?
If a 2 is showing for DV, then I always roll for BCF.
If its not going to be a clutch KO and they have 3 showing for DV, then I always roll.
If its a clutch KO, and there are no damage reducing powers, I roll.
If the fig has Flurry and BCF, I roll.
With BCF, go big or go home. Most of the time it works out for me, and the times it has let me down have generally been few and far between. Of course, I always play at least one or two pieces with PC if I'm playing a BCF team.
I usually go with what else can be done during my turn. If I know that three Dam will hurt enough that another attacker can finish the job then I'll go with that. If I only need three then I go with that as well.
I'll usually chance the roll if I know that a retaliation won't be coming back, or if I really need to deal three Dam. Like against a big gun like Thor or Supes that 3 Dam won't matter too much over the one or two so I may as well chance going for the better Dam and getting them to a better place in thier dial.
The only other time either if they're Mystics/Crossgen and I want a better return for taking damage or if it's a fig that takes 6 to KO. May as well chance it to eliminate a fig in one shot.
In the end it comes down to each specific scenario and what would be best for your next/remaining turn.

If all you need is 3 or less, then there's no reason to use BCF. That one's easy. And if I absolutely need to deal more damage than the printed damage then you should always roll. Sure, you might only have a 1 in 6 chance to deal that six clicks of damage that it will take to KO veteran Superman, but if it's your one chance to win the game - do it.
Most of the rest of the time I'll roll for BCF. You have a 3 in 6 chance to roll better than a 3, and only a 2 in 6 chance of rolling less. Sometimes you'll roll low, but the odds are in your favour and the gods favour the bold.
This is why I don't like adding figures that have B/C/F/ and 3 damage! I hate this choice!
I usually go for the 3 damage unless I'm feeling lucky.
And from someone who rolled three straight 1s on three B/C/F rolls while attacking a V Sub-Mariner on one of his Toughness clicks, I can say that I HATE HATE HATE not having a Probability Controller on my team when I'm using B/C/F.
I say go for the 3 damage. Now others can argue all they want but I'll take 3 over 1 anyday, and usually my dice are cursed enough to roll a 1 everytime so I say use the vamage value printed on the dial.
Once I rolled a critical hit against an Ares with unique Ra's al-Ghul and then rolled a 1 on the Blades,Claws,Fangs roll. I literally lost my mind right there in the store where we were playing!!! But, hey a good time was had by all and thats what really matters anyway. Right???
Bruce Banner KO's:
Black Adam, Wolverine, Wonder Woman x2, Caiera, Bullseye, Iron Patriot, Hulk, Noh-Varr, Venom, Chun-Li
Depends on how well I know the opposing figure's dial. I almost always roll just because hey, I paid for Blades, I might as well use it. This comes up frequently with V Shi, my favorite figure in all of Indy. If I'm up against a figure that's got 1 click of Invulnerability or Impervious and then a bunch of Toughness after it, I'll usually go with the straight 3 damage to crack it, figuring on being able to just tear things up with Blades on subsequent turns. The only exception to this rule is V Bron (yet another Blades + 3 damage offender). I want to hit him as hard as I can at first, and I rationalize that if I roll low enough that I don't poke through his Invulnerability, then at least I'm not taking Crossgen damage as punishment
