“The End of Time”

“The Hulk is away,” Live Wire announced. The Legion’s shuttle was closing in on the Obelisk, and were preparing to assault the building. Tension was high, and conversation was sparse. To say the least, it was disconcerting for Spider-Man.

*We’re close, now,* Saturn Girl thought to the time-lost hero.

“Gah! Stop doing that!” Spider-Man said. He wasn’t used to telepaths just projecting their thoughts into his head.

“Don’t worry, Spider-Man,” Cosmic Boy said. “Saturn Girl’s a Titanian - they speak in telepathy because they don’t have fully-developed vocal chords. She isn’t reading your mind, just projecting hers.”

“Well, I’m sorry, but it’s still creepy,” the wall-crawler said, settling back in his seat.

“You say you’re from the year 2099,” Brainiac 5 said. “That would mean you are familiar with this ‘Hulk’ creature.”

“Not really. I know of a monster they call Hulk, but he’s nothing like that. Looks more like a cross between a gorilla and a dinosaur.”

“Another cross-dimensional anomaly, then,” Brainiac nodded, typing more notes into his ever-present hand-comp.

“That’s a computer?” Spider-Man asked. “It’s thin as paper. How much could that possibly hold?”

“Approximately 5.6 exabytes,” Brainiac replied, barely registering the question.

“Is that a number?” Spider-Man said absently.

“Hulk’s hit,” Live Wire said. “You guys gotta see this.” The Legionnaires moved to the front of the cockpit to look out the viewpane. Far ahead, they could see smoke rise from the impact of the Hulk to the Obelisk.

“He should be coming out of stasis momentarily,” Brainiac 5 said, running calculations. Before he could finish the sentence, they could make out electric power surging around where the Hulk hit. Live Wire increased the zoom on the viewpane, and they could see Hulk thrashing around, beating wildly on the smooth obsidian-esque structure.

“Amazing,” Cosmic Boy said. “Just…wow.”

“No wonder they had to quarantine that sproking thing,” Wildfire whistled.

Hulk was smashing at random, leaving huge craters in the side of the Obelisk with each strike. Small spider-like creatures formed out of the structure and began attacking him. He didn’t seem to notice, and swatted five to ten away with each swipe of his hand.

“Nothing stops that thing,” Shadow Lass gasped.

“Come on,” Cosmic Boy said, moving away. “He’ll be through soon, and the other Legionnaires will be drawing the defenses away starting about now. We have to be ready to breach.”

Reluctantly, the team pulled away from the spectacle and prepared to be launched inside the mysterious tower.

Spider-Man screamed a little too much like a little girl as he was launched out of the flight tube toward the hole Hulk made in the Obelisk. Facing what he was sure was his eminent death, he didn’t much care whether these other kids thought he was a sissy. As he neared impact, he saw he was coming in too shallow and braced himself, but was caught by a field of Cosmic Boy’s magnetism and carefully dropped inside.

“You alright?” the Legion’s leader asked.

“Fine. No problem. We do that all the time in the 90’s.”

“Good, then let’s go.”

They marched inward through dark halls that looked like something out of an archaic dungeon. The halls twisted and turned as they moved inward, and Shadow Lass had the distinct feeling they were being herded toward a trap.

“Children!” came a voice from an opening ahead. The voice sounded like concrete blocks grinding against each other - like flame and nightmares and hushed screams. The hall ended and opened into a massive domed room with flame spiraling up the walls. A humanoid figure in the center raised his hands as they walked in. He wore black clothing of thick leather with a long cloak behind. His neck was ringed by long spikes, and his head was a ball of flame.

“They send children!” the figure cackled. “This is the best the future has to offer. Can you believe this, sister?”

A woman with terrifying beauty reclined in a seat nearby. Her luxurious black hair was like locks of midnight flowing down her back. “Yes, brother, I can. And they have a Spider-Man, as well, it seems.”

“Yes, of course - but no sorcerers. No Sorcerer Supreme to meddle. This is a perfect plan, and even you cannot deny it.”

“Even the Glor finds meat some days,” the woman said.

“What is all this?” Cosmic Boy demanded. “Who are you and what have you done?”

“Simpleton!” the man howled. “You know not the dread Dormammu? It is your peril!”

“Look, Moo-moo,” Wildfire said, stepping forward. “Fix this sprock you’ve done, or we sic the Hulk on you!”

“Infant, if a pair of renegade Gods cannot comprehend our plot, what hope do you have? While the trickster and the warrior try in vain to merge dimensions, time itself breaks down at the edges. The past and the future are coming undone - do you think you can stop it?”

“We don’t believe you,” Live Wire said.

“I do not need your belief,” Dormammu said with condescension dripping from his voice. “If you interfere in our plans, you will be wiped from existence. Since you have no hope of success, sit back and watch as the underworld takes its place in power. Perhaps we would make you prized slaves.” His soul-burning gaze turned to Saturn Girl and Shadow Lass. “Or perhaps concubines?”

“Frack you!” Live Wire growled, beginning to charge before Cosmic Boy held him back.

“If we can’t stop you without causing our own deaths,” Cos said carefully. “What will happen if you succeed?”

”When we succeed, boy. There is no doubt of our victory. The renegade Gods are distracted by their lusts for power, and forget the forces primeval that have long awaited such chances for power. We from the fires below are older and stronger than these petty Godlings - while they scramble to control the present, our knowledge of infinite time allows us to strike at their future. They are building a world in which we will already be lords of all creation!”

“I have no idea what they’re talking about,” Spider-Man said. “But they’re definitely super-villains. Nobody else would talk that way.”

“We have no choice but to fight,” Brainiac 5 said. “If they are right and we will die if they don’t succeed in usurping power from these other Gods from the past, then we know that a fate worse than that awaits if we let them win.”

“Fracked if we do, fracked if we don’t,” Shadow Lass said. “Let’s do it.”

“Don’t be fools, children,” Dormammu said. “Don’t force me to unmake you!”

“Eat me, Grandpa,” Cosmic Boy said. “Go for it, Legion!”

hmm weird, in your actions you put #3 and Umar in the same square but in the recap you put Umar and the Speed Demon in the same square...so where's Umar? I'm gonna assume you meant L17 for #3 cuz I'd think you'd want to protect Umar since she has Trick Shot....and L18 for Umar and N18 for the Speed Demon...if that's not correct just let me know....and we can redo the turn.

** 2099 Spiderman rock…There was once he was used with FF team, and the new share def, team ability. Each team 500 points.….Boy he rock. A number of attacks missed, if they hit , Spidy made about 3 supersense roll.
And KO*** double his point cost and injured a few more clixs. It took about 300 points with outwit to take him down.

Turn 4A

1. Spidey will claw Dormy. AV 10 vs DV 16. Roll is 5, 4. Hit. Claws roll is 5. Dormy takes 3 clicks.

2. Brainy to K11.
