What do you guys think of the One Year Later books being printed by DC right now? My opinion is that they're pretty mediocre at best. I've read the OYL issues of Outsiders, Teen Titans, Batman, and Nightwing, and I haven't been impressed with any of them. Outsiders was probably the best of that bunch, and it really wasn't something to look twice at, IMHO. The issue of Batman was basically a recycled generic Poison Ivy story with Batman apparently coming back after being missing for a year with no real explanation. The two Nightwing issues are awful (maybe I'm just saying that because I hate Jason Todd). I don't think it's just my Todd-hatred though. Something about #### thinking to himself "It's time for the real Nightwing to get off his duff. " I don't think I've heard someone under 50 use the phrase "get off your duff" since the Golden Age. As for Titans, it was one of my favorite books, until now. I've sworn off reading it until at least Raven comes back. There's a such thing as being innovative, and then there's changing something "just because." And I'm sorry, but seeing Tim attempt to clone another Superboy was one of the dumbest things I've seen in a comic. You'd think that if he had any respect for his departed friend, that he wouldn't be doing this, but maybe that's just me. I'm still holding out hope for Shadowpact and Blue Beetle, but that might be asking too much at this point.
Yeah, DC is MAJORLY dropping the ball with IC and OYL. It's gotten to the point where I'm just dropping the majority of my DC books. I used to basically split the 12 books a week I got between marvel and DC, now it's like 80-90% marvel with only 1 or 2 DC books.

I've been loving Batman and Superman titles and Green Lantern was nice in OYL but I have also hated the Nightwing two issues out so far.
I think them killing Superboy was a bold move and well, it has paid off in titans. I'm interested to see what happens in 52, so I'll still keep reading. It's a pretty good thing they did with Crisis, 52 and OYL starting OYL in the middle of crisis. The whole mystery to what happened between the time is much more interesting.

Killing Conner is significantly less bold once you find out DC was losing the rights to superboy.

Hmmm...that's interesting. Over at the "civil war?" thread, several people seem to think DC is the way to go. Personally, I'm finding the OYL stuff great. Green Arrow has become interesting, Outsiders is still amazing now that they stand so "outside" conventional superheroism that they are keeping the fact they are alive from the rest of DCU, and Titans remains one of my top books of all time. Sorry, but if your friend died, and you had the means to give him the second chance that he gave to the ENTIRE WORLD, what would YOU do? It's not so cut and dry as "he should have more respect for his dead friend". The JSA is still great with its new writer, and Green Lantern has consistently impressed me, even more so with the OYL. Of course....Nightwing is a little rough compared to pre-OYL. The dialogue needs HEAVY improvement. But otherwise, writing-wise, DC is blowing Marvel OUT OF THE WATER weekly.
Sorry, Bendis. Ya gotta stop writing superheroes and go back to what you're good at. Until then, make it DC.

Civil War is being written by Mark Millar, not Bendis...

It wouldn't be giving Conner a second chance, because the clone would not be Conner. Sorry, but Marvel has much better writing than DC at the moment, IMHO. Just the way Jason Todd came back to life, for instance, is ridiculous.
Believe me, the Siegel lawsuit won't amount to much. DC most likely will continue to use Superboy as they always have as this will be tied up in appeals for years. Anyways, the character of Conner Kent would be significantly different from the pre-pubescent Clark that it wouldn't infringe anyways. Long story short: DC/WB isn't really losing the rights to Superboy...they have enough money to keep him as long as they like.

Oh, I know Millar is writing Civil War. But Bendis' writing symbolizes all that's wrong over at Marvel....lack of respect to years of history and poor characterization. And by the way, as long as that lawsuit is in appeals, DC will use Superboy as they see fit. Litigation's a real #####.
