Help with Damage SHield / mystics / Armor piercing team
Hi, I've got a 300 point team idea brewing using the feats Damage shield and Armor piercing, and the Mystic TA... I need help rounding out my force though.
300 points:
V Cloak + AP + DS = 95
LE Ghost Widow + DS + AP = 74
E Firestar + DS +AP = 72
Total = 241
I'm unsure how to round out the last points. Part of me wants to use a pouncing R Ragman, so my wildcards can copy the TA...the same goes with LE Sue storm.
Or maybe I need a 39 point poison/wilcard/mystic to round out the team.
Well, I'd forget Sue Storm if you're planning on using the Arachnos TA to deal damage. When attaacked, you'd have to choose between high defense and Arachnos damage. Since you are relying on taking damage, you might consider Nanobots, but honestly, none of those figures have very deep dials. They will probably be killed before you have a chance to heal them. Protected could help you avoid a fatal blow...
I've tried to make this team as well. It sounds neat, but doesn't work so well. Especially in a 300 point game. The Batman TA would help a lot, forcing your opponents to make those close combat attacks that you want.

Help!
Drop the DS on those 3 figures, you dont need it. the Ghost widow TA is same as Mystics. Which is essentially a Damage shield. The Cloak and Firestar can copy the Arachnos ta and be just fine w/o it.
Now your team is 211. if you have them add auto regen and protected to Ghost widow. for 20 more points.
Then you can add a pouncing Ragman for 62 points
For a total build of 293. Add a maryjane pog for 5 more points if you like.
Captain Mako is a great replacment for either Ghost Widow or Persuader. He's cheaper than both, can fill both roles, and has one more clix of life than Ghost Widow and for most of his dial there isn't a need for AP. You can also play Atlantis Rising with either team and suffer little penalty (Cloak losing Phasing or Crosswinds).
I think you guys may be missing the point of this particular strategy. The point, if I'm not mistaken, is to have opposing figures take 2 unreducible damage when they hit your figures in close combat. Also, with the figures he's picked out, it's also the idea to have them be poisoning the opposition as well. Taking Damage Shield off defeats this basic premise.
I think the point of the army was lost somewhere. The point of this build is not to deal feedback damage. But to deal feedback damage x2, neither of which is reducable. That's why damage shield AND armor piercing is there.
Not sure if you care about winning, but if not I'd suggest dropping all the figs and using Ares instead.

That would be great if I had an Ares... want to loan me yours?
Seriously, Buddyhoss and Heroguy are right...the point is to be poisoning them and if they try and hit me close comabt style they take 2 unreduceable damage. The figures I've chosen, for the most part, also have an easy time breaking away to get to a medic...
Maybe I'll put an E Asp on the team.
In any event, it's a neat idea, but I'm feeling that its one better suited to a 400+ point team
IF you are going down that route, I would DEFINITELY recommend getting the Batman TA/Kabuki TA in there or having some sort of Stealthed/Poison character.
The reason why is that you are using Poison to injure your characters automatically each round (not a bad idea) and then relying on the fact that if someone punches one of your characters, they are going to take two damage non-preventable. That's pretty nasty all told.
Consequently, you are GOING to need protection from ranged damage otherwise your strategy is going to be picked apart.
But not a bad idea I'd like to see how it works. I'm a massive fan of Poison tie-up pieces (Cloak being a favourite) and there's nothing wrong with your team. Ok, its brittle as hell and I am not sure how often you're going to win, but its fun and interesting!
Kudos.

Use the E Starter Spidey with DS and pounce. He hits for 5 with most heavy's, 6 with the soda machine and they take two if they retaliate. He's a good disposable basher.
