I though I read that Ron Marz was going to take Kyle back to his roots a bit. Did anyone else read Ion?! Am I alone in thinking that Kyle is getting DARK. And what's up with that "Guardian of the Universe" sub-title?!?!?! Is he turning into a Guardian?!!?!?!

I don't mind a little bit of confusion, but the first issue of Ion left me utterly cold. With the utter tragedy Kyle's personal life has seen, I much would have preferred they keep him in the action-oriented Corps book. Instead, we get cryptic (as-you-say) Dark Phoenix scenes and a "home situation" that seems utterly boring.
I want a Wally, Jay, Bart, Tornado Twins, Jesse Quick, Max Mercury ALL-FLASH book!
What gets me is, and I bring this up only because reading the thread title made me think of it is, when Kyle first became Ion, he got the power from the energy left over from Parallax, so, when he got rid of the energy by putting it all into the Central Power Battery, then Parallax shouldn't of been able to be "reborn" as it were. I never did get an explaination on all that.

Anywas, now back to your regular thread.
i think that is because on Parallax's return, the creature was feeding first off the powers of the spectre, then off the powers of ganthet
at no point was it usting the power it originally posessed, which was hal jordan's still as of yet unexplained ability to fuse with the pwoer of the central battery. at least it wasn't during teh rebirth
The universe is governed by a tendency toward disorder, we refer to the quantification of that tendency as Entropy Boston Heroclix
The power ion is different now. I wouldn't think it's as powerful as before since.. that would be insane to even come up with enemies with (sending invading aliens across the galaxy with a snap of the finger)

I do recall Hal merging with the battery once before, when they were first retelling his origin. The first in the "Emerald" mini's years ago.
Ok, I'm under the impression that Kyle has an immense amount of power and hasn't quite figured out how to use it just right yet....
What gets me about this is that when Kyle first became Ion he seemed to handle his new powers pretty well. Really, REALLY well in fact. Didn't take him a very long time to master them at all it seemed.
Of course, if he's not as powerful as the first time he's not as omniscient or all-seeing as then either. He has to work harder to understand his powers and his potential. This might explain it a little... maybe... eh?
Ron Marz seems to think Kyle has to be depressed and tragic. He gave us the "everything goes bad so Kyle leaves for space, leaving behind his supporting cast" thing too.
Personally, I wanna see Winnick do Kyle again. That's the definitely Rayner if you ask me (well, that and the Kyle that Morrison, Waid, and Kelly all did in JLA, which is more like Winnick's). No longer a rookie, at grips with his past failures, and a nice guy.

Actually, the guy that did the leaves for space deal was Winnick.

In the time it takes you to read this, I'm hitting on your sister. If she doesn't take the bait, I've got your mom on hold.
was it Winnick? I thought for sure it was MArz (I lost my collection, long story, involves moving, rain storm, and a truck that had a leak in it's roof that was unknown till after the move)
