Amazing Spider-Man #533 - Rated 9 - I really liked it. Spidy deals with the press etc after his big announcement. Villians take interest. JJJ sues Peter. Gotta kinda feel bad for May and MJ though, not like they can go to the mall like normal people any more. Good stuff leading up to the actual Civil War issues.
Ultimate Spider-Man #96 - Rated 8 - Spidy freaking out over Vamps was kind funny. And nice to see him and MJ being friends again. Peter fights off vamps and Morbius whom he thinks he just another vamp. Luckily Morb is thier to help. They save Urich but Peter is all stressed and depressed again. Just wouldn't be Ult Spidy if Peter was angsting for about 10-20 issues.
Exiles #83 - Rated 8 - The Exiles start sending the dead members back to thier worlds so they can be properly buried. Blink can't decide if she wants to send Mimic back to his world or bury him there. Meanwhile, an evil Iron Man gets his armor back and attacks but is put down by Longshot. Blink finally decides to take Mimic home herself so she can talk to his worlds X-Men.
Runaways #17 - Rated 9 - The "girls making up" thing was great. Karo has learned some new abilities. Plus her fiancee has tagged along. They go to rescue Molly but end up getting into a fight. Nico runs ahead to grab Molly but ends up getting shot my Wilder! Apaprently that was the real plan to kill her as sacrafice and not Molly! Is Nico dead?!?! I think it's Xavin (the skrull) in disguise. I don't think the real death is supposed to happen until next issue. And I still think it's Gert. Og yea, LOVE the art. BTW Molly rules.
Nextwave #6 - Rated 8 - Another hilarious issue. The team fights on and on as Dirk sends more and more weird weapons after them. Finally Machine Man has enough and stealths aboard and takes the one thing Dirk can't live without... a dress. He tells Dirk to leave or he will burn it. Dirk agrees and leaves... seems it's his mothers dress and he likes to wear it. Think of the movie "Psycho". Funny stuff.
Daredevil #86 - Rated 10 - This issue was GREAT. Daredevil has been SO good lately. A riot starts, meant to take out Fisk and Matt, but they team up to fight the cons. Soon they get overwhelmed but luckily Fisk has arranged for Bullseye to get out and help! After they win they are supposed to flee to a chopper but DD remembers who he really is and KOs Bullseye and wounds Fisk! Then he goes and gets Punisher so they can go find the helicopter. Really good stuff.
X-Factor #8 - Rated 9 - Lilah and Quicksilver have a chat. He remembers her and considers her his enemy and vice-versa. QS wants to chat with Jamie and his friends.. will Rictor get new powers? Good dialogue etc. More info on the bad guys. Jamie has a dupe in SHIELD who gets half the team to sign the Registration Act. Good writing.
New Avengers #21 - Rated 7 - A little bit about Cap A trying to recruit people to help him fight the man. More SHIELD agents come for him but he escapes. Falcon finds him and they team up. Then the find out Spidy is on Tonys side. Next they go to Pym but he has also joined TOny and he and some SHIELD agents attack but Falcon and Cap escape again. Next they go to find Luke Cage... who we know joins due to seeing him in the actual Civil War issues. The art was kind of lame.
X-Men #187 - Rated 7 - I don't buy that Remy would want to "cleanse his past" by killing Rogue. That was stupid. Polaris gets some kind of powers back (her own faked via Apoc tech I think) and goes to Egypt to find Apoc. Not to much really happens beside we see Polaris, Gambit, and Sunfire aren't doing to well. All build up to the "new" team.
Young Avengers #12 - Rated 9 - About time this came out. Marvel and it's delays RUIN good books. Hulkling trades places with Superskrull and they trick the Kree and Skrull armies into agreeing that "Hulkling" (really Super Skrull) will spend 6 months with each side. They then convince Cap A and the rest to let them keep heroing. Patriot gets a blood tranfusion from his grandpa (a super soldier) thus he gets real powers. The archer inherits the name "Hawkeye" - What will Clint say to that? The speester takes the name "Speed" which I thought was lame. A REALLY good book hampered by Marvels usual delays.
The archer inherits the name "Hawkeye" - What will Clint say to that?
.
you'd think they would come up with something original or maybe have her use one of those other names, like the name used on the Squad Supreme's archer.. which was a name Hawkeye once used for some reason, before the SS were known.
I'm amazed that Ronan was actually kinda entertaining in it's own kinda boring way. I'm not a huge fan of Glorian or the whole world shaper thing so hopefully something in the wave will take him out for good next issue.
Frontline was nice too, only because I liked seeing Prodigy all drunk and getting his ### handed to him by Iron Man. And that little historical excerpt at the end was really well done. I wasn't too keen on the first one, but this one easily makes up for it. It was nice seeing how Norman took Spidey's unmasking as well, I hope to see him raising a little hell soon.
And wow, I actually liked Amazing Spider-Man this week. Not only did it not suck, it showed a nice version of JJJ that isn't just a bitter old man. I've now taken my stance on the whole thing up a level and I'm sorta looking forward to what kinda stories will be coming. I just hope the villain cameos mean we'll see Spider-Man fighting them and not Plorgah, the mystical carpenter ant avatar.
Ultimate Spidey was good too. A fun two parter. Not sure what else to say, but I did like Ultimate Morbius quite a bit.
Like I said in my thread, it was a great week for Marvel.
I agree, Daredevil #86 was such a great issue. So much kick@$$ action. Matt giving Punisher a shotgun and telling him to help him get out of that "hellhole" was the icing on the cake.
My favorite part of ASM #533 is when they show Eddie Brock in his hospital bed. I have a feeling he is going to come back, and take what is rightfully his (the symbiote).

Agree 100%. Love Brubaker. The interaction between Fisk and Matt was very Snake Eyes / Storm Shadow team-up. It was sweet ... the revelation that Bullseye is there and the Hannibal Lector splash page of him in his cell was friggin' awesome. He is an absolute maniac. Then Matt kicking his ### again was sweet. The icing on the cake was Frank sipping coffee and reading his paper in his cell relaxing while the riot was raging ... and the fact that no con was dumb enough to even think about messing with him. Love it ! Brubaker is a gem and he gets 2 books out ON TIME every month. I hope he keeps it up with Uncanny.

Low action good dialogue issue. Also a big reveal ... Siryn meets up with Spidey and learns the truth about Decimation Day and the House of M. and that Cyclops lied to them all ...

Didn't I already buy this issue ? Cap gets ambushed, he escapes. Wasn't this Civil War ? WTF ? And the art was ####. I should have stopped @ #20.
[b] Wolverine [b] - Rated 9 - Wolverine tracks down Nitro. Iron Man tracks down Logan. Tony convinces Wolvie to let him send in a SHIELD strike team. They get fragged and burned alive. Wolvie gets burned almost down to the skeleton. Nitro makes a call to a shady washington figure who seems to be sponsoring him. And out pops Wolverine. Looks like Nitro is going to get aced next issue.
Moon Knight #3 - Rated 9 - OK. Turns out Frenchie is gay. But I mean I could have told you that when I was 10 reading Moon Knight. So that is big reveal number one. The second is that there is somebody else pulling Marc's strings trying to get him to become MK again. As him and Frenchie leave the restaurant they get ambushed and Spector kills again. The shady group turns out to not be the ones who ordered the attack on Frenchie and Marc -- once they realize they are no long in control they order their little project terminated starting with one of the dudes in the room who promptly gets two pens in his eye sockets from none other then -- Taskmaster. Finch draws a sweet Tasky. I need to re-read 1 and 2 again as the whole thing is being told in flashback and present.

I don't know. Venom is going to be in the mini called "Beyond" and from what I read, it won't be Eddie. Then again, Marvel lies all the time, so who knows?
And oddly, I once again find myself agreeing totally with NedLeeds.
DD was awesome. And I fealt like I had already read New Avengers when it came out last month and was called Civil War 1 & 2.
Also really enjoyed Young Avengers. I don't think 'Speed' is that lame of a name. (Not when there are speedsters out there called Wizzer.)
Plus, even if it was lame, its still not the lamest name on the team - that would go to Hulkling (I shudder just typing that.) With a close second to Wiccian (formerly AssGuardian - gah!)
As for Hawkeye (Hawkette?), that's still better than the proposed Hawkingbird (combination of Hawkeye and Mockingbird.) Which, based on the other aweful names in the group, I thought they'd acutally use that.

I'll agree that Speed could be better, but I kinda like Wiccan, Hulkling and Hawkingbird as names.
Perhaps the girl Hawkeye in Young Avengers is the return of Hawkeye that they'd eluded to. I mean, they'd just hinted that Hawkeye would be back, right? Did anyone ever say that it would be Clint, or did everyone just assume that it would be Clint?

I like that the girl took the Hawkeye name. Give the book that legacy feel to it IMO.

I'm REALLY looking forward to the rest of Civil War and the ASM tie-in issues.
Especially once I snuck a peek at the covers of Amazing 534, 535, and 536.
Oh, and anyone else notice that as Pete webs up his would-be assassin's gun, he also grabs MJ's @$$? Maybe for comfort, or an "if I'm dyin', I'm dyin' happy"
Either way: lucky bastard

Nah, he's not fighting cap there, he slipped on some oil IM was seeping, slipped into Cap, and then got po'd at IM for dripping, so went to hit him in the other cover image. Works for me.

I can still have hopes! I hate Mac Gargan Venom so much, though.
