Someone had asked me a simular question years ago about Torch and various mutants who had some sort of flame power and I point out to them Crystal had some control over elemants, like fire.
I agree, they are two completely different characters. One flies, one doesnt. blah blah. yeah, they're different
Magma's Powers:
Geokinesis: can psionically control the movement of the tectonic plates within the Earth's crust within limited areas, most likely no more than a radius of a few city blocks. Within this area she can create small but powerful earthquakes by psionically affecting the Earth's crust.
Pyrokinesis: can create flames and project blasts of heat that do not contain any molten rock. However, she apparently prefers to fire magma blasts rather than simple heat blasts, perhaps because the magma blasts have a solid impact that can knock down a target. The highest level of heat that Magma can generate is not yet known, but it is believed that she can reach at least 850° Fahrenheit.
Magma Manipulation: can psionically cause magma, or molten rock, from far beneath Earth's surface to rise to and break through the surface, forming miniature volcanoes. She can also geokinetically project fiery blasts of magma at targets. Apparently she does so by turning nearby rock molten, or bringing up magma from below the surface of the earth, and then geokinetically hurling it at her target.
The Torch's powers: He flies and generates fire. Big Whoop.
The selfish infect us all with sad, vulgar, sexual references and a constant barage of innapropriate innuendo. A pity to be subjected to this against our wills, but to allow it into our lives with open arms shames us all
Magma's powers have more to do with the earth. She can move rock, manipulate magma/lava, etc. Human Torch is more about the ability to create and control heat and fire. However, they are both pyrokinetic, so there is SOME crossing over. In the end, though, they both can do things the other can't, so no, they're not really redundant.

Plus Amara's views on things and personality are pretty interesting. Jonny seems to be a frat boy. Kinda like Iceman but opposite powers.

However Torch and Nova (Frankie Raye) were bascially the same character. And then theres Firebrand. Poor man's Torch. Can he fly? And Sunfire. Hes a bit more like Torch.
Firstar actually controls microwaves so shes different, and Pyro controlled flame but didnt make it himself. So hes alittle more powerful then Torch cuz he can just make the fire go away. Thats about all the firey characters that they made into Clix so far right?
