Flyingicarus's Avengers are hot off a win over my JLA in a 1500 point game. Let's see how well they do when we knock them down to a conservative 400 points.
I had a crazy urge to play the Frightful Four and against my better judgement, I'm going with it.
My team will consist of
V Wizard 96
w/ Repulsor Shield 25
w/Nanobots 10
V Trapster 59
w/Stunning Blow 10
V Hydro-Man 72
w/ Submerged 5
V Klaw 90
w/Trick Shot 20
w/LMD 12
399 points
Obviously had to stretch it a bit even to make 400
"I've done it!" the Wizard ranted. "I have proven once and for all that my mind is greater than Reed Richards! I have beaten the Fantastic Four!"
"And we're chopped liver?" Hydro-Man asked.
"Quiet," the Trapster snapped at him. "It was the Wizard's plan that allowed us to get into the Baxter Building undetected. His technology that banished the Fantastic Four to that pocket dimension. Give him some credit." With the Wizard, the Trapster had formed the core of all the various incarnations of the Frightful Four. It made him very loyal to the group's leader, maybe just to the point of sycophantic.
"Well there is one snag," Klaw pointed out.
"Snag?" the Wizard bristled. "Impossible. There's no way they can get out of that trap. We've won!"
"Maybe," Klaw continued, "but I detected a radio signal that one of them got off just before they were caught. They called for help."
Now that's what I'm talking about! We can play any team: Alpha Flight, Champions, Villains United, heck I might even do the Lady Liberators...and yes, there's no reason we can't bring back the JLA or Defenders or whomever. The only real rule should be that the winning team goes forward in some form. Speaking of which, West Coast Avengers here we go:
Mockingbird V 34
Tigra V 54
Clint Barton (Ultimates) 75 (protected)
Wonder Man V 132
Iron Man R (AW) 89 (protected)
"Am I the only one who finds it kind of ironic that it's only the West Coast Avengers available to help the FF in New York?" Tigra laughs.
"We do what we have to, Tigra," Iron Man rather sternly.
"The Frightful Four? Where are the big guns? No Dr. Doom? Magneto? Kang? I mean Wizard, Hyrdo Man, Klaw...this is supposed to worry us?" Wonder Man says.
"Yeah yeah, save the bravado for the bad guys, Simon," Hawkeye says.
"Hey sport, you're already in leader mode, aren't you? You miss this don't you?" Mockingbird asks.
"You bet your sweet hinnie I do, lady," Clint smiles back to her.
"The West Coast Avengers," the Wizard pondered. He'd hacked into the Baxter Building security cameras and was watching as the heroes assembled. "They should be easily dispatched. Iron Man and Wonder Man are the only heavyweights, and I think I should be able to put together a little something to deal with Iron Man. His armor's really quite primitive. Can you deal with Wonder Man?" he asked Klaw.
"Shouldn't be a problem," Klaw answered, tapping his sonic blaster against the open palm of his other hand.
"Good," the Wizard nodded. "Then the two of you can deal with Hawkeye, Tigra and Mockingbird."
"I'll show that Hawkeye what for," Hydro-Man chortled.
"And I've got a few tricks up my sleeve," the Trapster grinned. "This should be a piece of cake."
"Maybe we should split up. We can cover more ground that way," Iron Man says.
"Sounds good to me, can I hitch a ride?" Mockingbird asks.
"Of course, Mockingbird."
"Wait a minute. I thought I was the leader of this outfit, shouldn't I be callin' the shots?" Hawkeye bemoans.
"Of course Clint, what do you suggest?" Iron Man asks.
"Well..." he starts and then freezing because he has nothing better, "Why don't we split up?".
"Brilliant plan, sport," Mockingbird chides, "Couldn't have thought of that without you."
Hawkeye groans as Iron Man grabs Mockingbird and carries her off.
"I suppose it could a challenge leading a team like the West Coast Avengers and holding down a marriage at the same time. It's amazing how well you two get along, considering," Iron Man says.
"Yeah, it's a real wonder, isn't it?" Bobbi sarcastically responds.
