What would you pick as your worst ever single comic book issue?? I don't mean worst as in "the art was so lame" or "the writing is just horrible" I mean worst as in the plot twists or story ending just ruined everything for you. Where the end result changed your favorite character forever or the ramifications turned your fanboy feelings of excitement and fun to sour grapes.
Let me give you an example, my personal worst comic book ever is:
Green Lantern #25 (June 1992)
Titled "Prize Fight" written by Gerard Jones and illustated by a slew of GL artists past & present including Tim Hamilton, Joe Staton & M.D. Bright, this special over sized issue features the battle between Hal Jordon and Guy Gardner with the position of Green Lantern of Earth at stake and the loser leaving the Corps forever. Needless to say Guy gets his butt kicked and Hal takes his ring leaving my FAVORITE ALL TIME CHARACTER out of the Corps which leads Guy on a downward spiral that eventually (ironically) leads him to his own title and changes/completely ruins his character by becoming Guy Gardner Warrior.
Guy Gardner in the Giffen/ Demattis Justice League run was my absolute favorite character as he was always so juvinile and added such a humorous tone to the League to foil BatMan's seriousness. The above mentioned comic has bittered my life and my 7000 + comic collection ever sinced I regrettably sat down and read it 14 years ago. When Guy walked out of the League it made me want to walk out on comics and since that day another character has not even come close to my liking as much as Guy Gardner did.
Well, there you have it. My personal pick for the Worst Comic Book Ever. Which would you choose and why?? Please share your choice and post your reasons why that single issue struck a chord within you.
The worst comic ever will have to go to an X-Men comic.
X-Men Unlimited. I'm not sure what issue it was, but Sabertooth killed a bunch of ninja's and then tried to kill Professer X, only to be shot in the head by Bishop. It was a collection of awful 90's memories and I often try to forget it.
Worst to me would be, at least where Marvel is concerned, everything done to Dan Ketch's Ghost Rider after Howard Mackie left. Especially the lame origin BS.
As for DC... The whole return of Hal Jordan. It could've been done so much better. The whole "Parrallax is an entity possessing Hal" thing was so not right. They once again changed the origin of the yellow weakness by doing that. Previously, in GL #19, they mentioned that there had been no weakness till the Guardians put it in with Yulan Gar, and that was the weakness to wood and that became Alan Scott's battery/ring. Ugh!
The comic I hate more then flaming dog poop is What If? #1 Vol 2. Words can't describe how stupid this comic is. I'll try, though I'm sure I'll fail.
The High Evolutionary manages to evolve all humans and mutant and super powered beings when the ending of some Avengers Annual turns out different. The humans suddenly become smart enough to acknowledge that all super powered beings are their superiors and those people with powers suddenly realize their only possible leader should be Wolverine of all people. So they leave the Earth even more powerful, keep in mind they can all fly through space now and are immortal, and smack down Galactus, Eternity, and other weaker beings. Earth's humans are left with big psychic heads and only Vision remembers the old days. And Daredevil because he's blind or something. Then I puke on the comic. The End.
Long story short, every super hero becomes a god. Or greater then that I suppose.
The only one that's sticking out in recent memory is Civil War #2. Spider-Man unmaskes and ruins nearly 40+ years of character devolopment and synergy between his civillian life and his alter-ego.
Worst treatment of Peter Parker since the Clone Wars, which made me quit comic books all together for 11 years.

yay somebody that agrees with me!
i have collected spider-man comics for almost as long as i could read and one of his biggest things was his identity then in one page it's just...gone all gone..:disappoin

I have Amazing Spider-Man issues ranging back to #50 and #27 being the oldest one I own, and if I had the opportunity to kick Joe Quesada in the nuts so hard he'd never be able to have children, I wouldn't hesitate for a minute. Spider-Man was apealing because his strugle with his costumed life and his life as a normal person. Now that that element has been removed... I don't know what to think. I think I was shell-shocked for the first month, but now that it's setting in, I really, really, really dislike that editorial decision.
It's hard to do something worse then the Clone saga to poor 'ol Peter Parker, but he's succeeding.
I wish him a combination of a painful urinary infection and a kidney stone all at the same time.
And I'll laugh like a hyena when the stock holders vote him out after the delays in Civil War. Kind of makes me want to buy Marvel stock just so I can hammer a few nails into his coffin.
And while I dug the concept and artwork of Marvel Zombies, it left something to be greatly desired, such as a greater focus on the backstory (which was "conveniently" placed in Fanta$tic Four). The flashbacks in UFF should have been included as a Prologue...
Avengers: Disassembled. The biggest POS ever put to print. If Hank Pym had died, it might've registered a blip on my screen, but that ******* Bendis, couldn't even give me that small sense of satisfaction.
As for DC: Superman: Strength The second biggest POS story that I've had the displeasure of reading.
