Don't you give up first turn immunity if you move out of your starting area?
I played at a new venue recently (4 independents on 1 map) and I was 2nd. The first player moved his Cap and Batman out of the starting area.
On my turn I tried to trickshot batman to get him off Outwit. I was told that I couldn't attack because of "1st turn immunity." I told them that once they move out of the starting gates, that ship has sailed, but I was told I was wrong.
I'm fine with the decision as a "house rule" but I do not believe that is the way it is in standard play.
Any reference pt for me to take back to these guys?

You are correct.
From the Comprehensive Tournament Rules:
"1.12 First Turn Immunity
A character, which is still in its original starting position on the map, may not be attacked or damaged, except by friendly characters, until after each player has completed his or her first turn."
Key Phrase: WHICH IS STILL IN ITS ORIGINAL STARTING POSITION...
Visible Dials and Pushing Damage need to be optional. This is the way.
Thank you for the reference. I'm in the middle of a move and some things are packed up already.

If a character is out of it's starting square, first turn immunity does not apply. So a character can move out of it's space and then back again and as long it is still in the square it started in, first turn immunity applies.
