Ok, say my V Ultimate Captain America has a token on him on his first click. Can I push him to charge my opponent then after that attack resolves and he takes his damage use outwit?
I used it today to outwit a defensive power on my opponents fig after Cap attacked so Quicksilver didn't have to deal with the defensive ability.
My opponent wasn't sure if I could do it, but he let it go.
Just in case you want the wording from the PAC and Rulebook:
Free Action (Page 17):
Some game effects...allow a character to do something as a free action after giving the character another kind of action...Characters do not receive action tokens for free actions and the free action does not count as one of your available actions for the turn...A character or force may take any number of free actions in a turn but only as their powers or abilities dictate.
Outwit:
Once during your turn (but not during another action), as a free action this character counters a power on single target opposing character.
You had resolved your action with Cap (his charge). He took damage via the push that happens after you resolve your action (The rules for pushing can be found on page 12). You are then allowed to use outwit as a free action.
Sorry, newbie question. Can someone please tell me with outwit what the phrase "not during another action" means? Does this mean you can't outwit and then charge? Can you outwit and still attack? Outwit and then move? I just don't understand the language?
It means that Flash cannot dash (hypersonic attack) out from behind the wall, where he was hiding, outwit Superman's Impervious, then hit and run back to hide. Flash has to outwit the Impervious before he starts his hypersonic attack.
Sorry, newbie question. Can someone please tell me with outwit what the phrase "not during another action" means? Does this mean you can't outwit and then charge? Can you outwit and still attack? Outwit and then move? I just don't understand the language?
Welcome to the forums!
If kingskid's response wasn't good enough, it's basically saying that OW and Perplex are an action in and of themselves. You can't OW/Perplex in the middle of a Running-Shot, Charge, HSS, Flurry, etc. action that allow for different powers/actions to be done. Like kingskid said, you can't move, OW, then attack.
-Heroclix is not a game of logic, it's a game of strategy .... after all, when's the last time that you saw a giant (using a stealth ability) that was hiding behind a swingset... and nobody could SEE him????
