After the Scarlet Witch's reality warp, the mutant population was severely decimated, with only an estimated 198 left with their powers. Among those depowered were the X-Men's founder Professor X and his nemesis Magneto.

Because of this event, mutants are no longer the primary line of evolution, and because of their dwindled genepool, may be considered an endangered species, on the brink of extinction. Whether this latest development will stand the test of time, or if it will eventually be negated, remains to be seen.

Many of the mutants that have retained their abilities have been relocated to staying in tents outside of the Xavier Mansion, "protected" by Sentinel Squad O*N*E. Since this group includes many former X-Men villains, this arrangement is strained at best.

It has been confirmed by various sources that there are considerably more than 198 mutants remaining - the number has been referred to as "symbolic" rather than actual, and in The 198 Files is said to be the earliest confirmed number. Numbers for pre-Decimation mutants vary from "over a million" (House of M #8) to 16 million (New X-Men #115, where it is said that the 16 million mutants who died on Genosha was around "half" the mutant population), giving a population, if the commonly-used 90% depowered figure is true, of between one hundred thousand and one and a half million. Both Hank Pym and Beast note shortly after the event that it is impossible for the energy that certain mutants controlled to simply have vanished, and that it must have been "sent" somewhere. The result of which is revealed in the form of a sentient energy being called "The Collective", who has come into violent conflict with the Avengers.

So Spiderknyt, tama ka about the 198 issue. And those group trapped in the blast containment chamber in Nevada is just half of the "198" but that's not the exact number, just a term.

The Twelve

Apocalypse's dead body was recovered by Genesis, the son of Cable. Genesis, who took over command of the Dark Riders with a new team, wanted to become the heir of Apocalypse by restoring him to life. Genesis restored Apocalypse to life by sacrificing the lives of many people in villages neighboring Akkaba.

During this time, Wolverine was held captive by Genesis, who attempted to restore Wolverine's lost adamantium skeleton and claws and turn him into a Horseman as a gift for Apocalypse. However, Wolverine broke free and mutated into a feral state, and then killed Genesis and nearly all of the Dark Riders, with the exception of Gauntlet. During the fight, Cannonball opened the coffin containing Apocalypse's body, but found it empty.

The body was stolen by Ozymandias and Apocalypse was reborn in Uncanny X-Men #335 with Ozymandias at his side. He teamed up with Cable to oppose Onslaught, but Cable stopped him when he tried to kill Franklin Richards.

Later, the storyline of The Twelve unfolded (in January & February 2000). Supposedly lost diaries of the mutant seer Destiny surfaced, telling of twelve beings of fantastic power that could defeat Apocalypse once and for all. These Twelve legend, however, was a ruse created by Apocalypse himself; once the Twelve were assembled, he planned to use them to transform himself into a godlike entity beyond the Celestials. The Twelve, chosen not only for their mutant powers but also for the Jungian quasi-archetypes they represented, consisted of:

Magneto and Polaris, representing opposing magnetic poles;
Storm, Sunfire and Iceman, representing elementals;
Cyclops, Phoenix and Cable, representing family (Father, Mother, Son), and chosen for the power of the Summers-Grey bloodline;
Bishop and Mikhail Rasputin, representing time and space, respectively
Professor X, representing the mind; and
The Living Monolith as the core.

Art by Alan Davis from X-Men (vol. 2) #97.(In an earlier storyline, dating to about 1987, The Twelve were supposed to be the future leaders of mutantkind whom the Master Mold was programmed to destroy. They included Cannonball and Mirage (then joint leaders of the New Mutants), Psylocke and Apocalypse himself, among others. Also included was a character called Ultiman, a future incarnation of Franklin Richards.) In Uncanny X-Men #-1 it was revealed that it was Madame Sanctity of the Askani Sisterhood the one who programmed the identities of the Twelve so they would be destroyed in order to prevent the rise of Apocalypse, though for some reason she did not program all the correct identities, seemingly to protect Cyclops, Phoenix and Cable.

Apocalypse planned to funnel the powers of the eleven mutants into The Living Monolith, and then from the Monolith into Nate Grey. As the power flowed into Nate, Apocalypse would possess Nate's body, which he had determined was the only physical body able to withstand such primal energies. Magneto had been weakened in some previous battles, however, so he could not supply enough energy to "complete the circuit," thus shorting it out.

Art by Tom Raney.The Twelve escaped and confronted Apocalypse as he was preparing to transfer his essence into Nate. Cyclops jumped in the way of the transfer, saving Nate, but Apocalypse merged with Cyclops instead, giving birth to a whole new horror (unofficially dubbed by some fans as "Cyclopalypse"). Although he did not achieve the godhood he wished, Apocalypse's power was expanded to an incredible degree and he managed to escape in Cyclops' body, with Jean Grey the only one who believed her husband still survived within the form.

After teleporting away, an amnesiac and powerless Cyclops regained control of the merged form. As Apocalypse began to re-emerge, however, Jean and Cable were alerted to his location, and she finally managed to free Cyclops by telepathically forcing Apocalypse's spirit out of her husband's body. Apocalypse was rendered an incorporeal astral form, and Cable took advantage of the opportunity to apparently destroy him, sundering his spirit with his Psimitar.

Wow, you did some research, pretty comprehensive for House of M and the twelve. Which brings us to the thing with Apocalypse. It was widely believed that Apocalypse died as a result of the splitting of his spirit from Cyclops. Somehow he didn't die and was re-awakened in the Blood of Apocalpse storyline.

As of now it is unsure if he died or not, the last scene showed him being revived by the Celestials that helped augment his natural mutant abilities, possilby for "payment" of their services before.

Sobra, he friggin DIED in the Search For cyclops, 'lam ko wala na siyang katawan since the Twelve saga ended, plus his spirit was "Destroyed" by the Psimitar of Cable which pretty much concentrates Cable's power into one cohesive weapon ( Actually this weapon was given by blaquesmith after the events of the Psi-war, to channel his power into something more formidable...might be wrong though, haven't read the issues for a long time ...) yadda yadda...in short its the sum total fo Cable's powers, similar to Psylockes Telekinetic katana. How Apocalypse survived that is the big question. Gulo nanaman yung storylines ng marvel.

Since we wondered how Apocalypse reappeared, here are some that I've been able to get.

The Return

The techno-organic virus, which Apocalypse long ago infected Cable with, was also revealed to be the means by which Apocalypse was revived. With only a drop of his blood into a vat of organs and blood, the virus would rewrite the genetic code of the material within to form a body for Apocalypse. Due to the events of M-Day, in which most of the mutants lost their powers, Apocalypse was revealed to be alive and well, and awoke from a slumber in a tomb in Akkaba, recalling:

"Across the world-- helpless mutants slaughtered. Pogroms. Horror. ...Something has woken me from my slumber. Once, a sudden surge in worldwide mutant power stirred me from a similar sleep. Now-- a plummet in global mutant capacity-- has opened my eyes".
Mike Marts said of the character's return:

"Apocalypse, at his core, has always been about ensuring that the mutant race is strong enough to survive whatever hardships it might encounter. Now, after the events of M-Day, the mutant race is at its all-time low…so if there was ever a time where the mutant race needed a savior, it’s now. And En Sabah Nur intends to be that savior."
Reappearing inside a Sphinx-shaped ship on the front lawn of the X-Mansion, Apocalypse had three new Horsemen: Gazer (War), Sunfire (Famine) and Polaris (Pestilence). While at the mansion, one of the X-Men switched sides to become a new Horseman Death: Gambit, so he could keep an eye on Apocalypse, although his mind was frayed as a result. He also swayed some of the 198 to side, including Skids, Scalphunter and Fever Pitch.

Cable also revealed that he was responsible for Apocalypse's revival, stating that the mutant community needed a powerful threat to rally against. Believing that the X-Men would inevitably defeat Apocalypse yet again and that it would bring the remaining mutant community together, Cable judged "the risks worth the rewards."

Apocalypse reminded Cable that even if he is defeated, he will return stronger than before, to which Cable responded. "Good, the world needs you to be stronger, Apocalypse....It's always helped us be stronger."

In fact there is still another force struggling to keep Apocalypse alive, one that showed its cards when the mutant was going to meet his final, previous, demise at the hands of the X-Men. It was discovered that the Celestials lent their technology to him, requiring as payment greater sufferings later. Apocalypse was going to embrace death as an escape from his lifelong pact, when the Celestials returned him to life. The time for payment has finally come.

Seeing them in Civil War: X-men series makes some newbie collectors wonder who they are , and the elder readers try to remember who they were.

Sabra (Ruth Bat-Seraph)

She is an Israeli mutant superhero. "Sabra" means both a native of Israel and a kind of prickly pear. She first appeared in Incredible Hulk #250.


Character history

Raised on a special kibbutz run by the Israeli government after her power manifested, Ruth was the first superhuman agent created to serve the Mossad (the Israeli Secret Service). Her first public act as Sabra was to battle the Incredible Hulk, whom she mistakenly believed was working with Arab terrorists operating in Israel. Some years later, Sabra's young son was killed in a terrorist attack. She disobeyed orders in order to bring her son's killers to justice.

Years later, Sabra found herself caught up in the events of the anti-mutant campaign known as Operation: Zero Tolerance. It was at this time Sabra fought along side the X-Men and began to subscribe to the philosophies of Charles Xavier. Sabra was fomerly a member of the X-Corporation's Paris branch. After Genosha got demolished by Sentinels, she accompanied Charles Xavier and other X-Men members to visit the place, where they eventually found an "insane" Polaris.

According to The X-Men: 198 Files, Sabra is one of a handful of mutants to have retained their powers after the House of M story arc.

In Civil War: X-Men #1, it is been revealed that Sabra has formed a policing force against unruley mutants. This team is fronted by Bishop with additional team mate Micromax (formerly of Excalibur). Sabra is therefore associated with Iron Man's pro-registration side in Marvel's Civil War, an uncommon role for a mutant.

She is set to return in the new Union Jack miniseries.


Powers

Sabra's mutant power has enhanced all of her body's physical abilities, such as strength, speed, agility, reflexes, durability and ability to heal, to superhuman levels. She can withstand impacts up to high caliber rifle fire. Her various costumes, usually based on the design or colors of the Israeli flag, contain anti-gravity devices that grant her controlled flight and wrist gauntlets that can fire plasma bursts and paralyzing quills.

She is also able to generate low-level superhuman abilities in others, enhancing their physical health (she has twice used this ability to save dying individuals) and granting them powers apparently at random and otherwise unrelated to Sabra's own mutant powers, such as the wind-generating powers given to a woman who took the costumed identity Windstorm. The recipient's new powers are permanent unless Sabra herself decides to withdraw them.

In addition to her superhuman abilities, Sabra posesses the standard weapons and combat training given to members of the Israeli military.

It should be noted that some accounts indicate that none of Sabra's powers are mutant in origin, but instead granted through an Israeli project similar to the American Super-Soldier program that created Captain America.

Micromax (Scott Wright)

is a mutant superhero of the Marvel universe.

He first appeared in Excalibur (vol. 1) #44, where he mistook Rachel Summers for a burglar. After a few missions with Excalibur, he resigned from the FI6 police of the United Kingdom force to join the Brand Corporation in New Jersey. He kept using his super-hero identity from time to time, and even helped the Avengers face the invasion of Kang the Conqueror.

Though very few people are aware of this, Micromax is actually an out of shape middle-aged man whose powers make him able to look like a younger, athletic person.

In X-Men: Civil War #1, it is been revealed that Micromax has formed a policing force against unruley mutants. This team is fronted by Bishop with additional team mate Sabra. Micromax is therefore associated with Iron Man's side.

During a battle with X-Force, he was harmfully stabbed in the chest by Shatterstar. He is currently in critical condition.

Able to grow and shrink in size and mass. Strength proportionate to size. Limited degree of shapeshifting by redistributing his body mass.

Omega-level mutant is a designation for a certain powerful class of super-powered individuals in the Marvel Comics universe to indicate Mutants with the ability (or potential) to exist beyond the boundaries of physical existence. Immortality is also a possibility, but not a requirement. Being able to control matter and energy on the sub-molecular scale, as well as having a body capable of withstanding such power levels without external help, also seem to be requirements. According to some sources, the X-Man Cable (in the instances when his powers are not limited by the threat of his techno-organic virus) and X-Man are able to manipulate components as small as individual electrons, but the strength of their powers will cause their bodies to eventually "burn out". X-Man now possesses a marking on his chest that prevents this from happening.

Omega-level mutation
The term was originaly coined for the mutants who pose the greatest threat, but Professor X optimistically changed the definition for those with unlimited potential in their powers. The limited series X-Men: Forever spoke of how humanity sees the result of experiments the Celestials carried out on early lifeforms, on behalf of the abstract entities of the Marvel Universe (Eternity, Death, and so forth). The reason for these experiments was to ensure that a race of beings would eventually evolve that would surpass and in turn replace all of the Abstracts. This would bring about the end of the universe. By creating humanity the Abstracts are ensuring that the cycle of life continues to revolve. This final state of evolution is Phoenix [citation needed], believed to be what all humanity will eventually become. If this is the same as the "Destiny Force" that the Supreme Intelligence of Kree claims the humanity has the evolutionary potential to reach, is uncertain. Those with omega (the last) potential are the ones closest to reaching this final stage of evolution. Whether their potential results in they themselves turning into Phoenixes (like Jean Grey and Quentin Quire have) or their descendants doing so, within Omega-level mutants lies the potential to bring about the end.

Nice! I'd like to clarify one thing though, with X-man, the "burning out" of his body wasn't just due to his powers. Going back to Age Of Apocalypse and the X-man flashbacks (Myke you can borrow this from me) Sinister realized that Nate Grey (nate from his "creator/father" Nathaniel Essex and Grey from his donor mother "Jean Grey") was too powerful even at the age of 10. He needed to put a fail safe in case Nate was able to kill apocalypse but then couldn't be controlled (Sinister being sinister). Nate was then put back into the aging/nutrient bath to further fine tune his nucleotides and to put that weakness.

With Cable it's not the same. his psionic potential is only hampered by the techno organic virus he was infected with as a baby. Hence most of his effort is directed to controling the techno-organics from spreading to his whole body.

Yes Iceman is Omega Level, it's just that he still hasn't mastered his powers as of yet. Professor Xavier was aware of this, he just didn't want to inform them back then. (Come to think of it he never did inform Iceman)

The Phoenix Force is an immortal, indestructible, and mutable manifestation of the prime universal force of life. Born of the void between states of being, the Phoenix Force is a child of the universe. It is the nexus of all psionic energy which does, has, and ever will exist in all realities of the omniverse, the Guardian of Creation, and a de-facto guardian of the M'Kraan Crystal. Phoenix is among the most feared beings in the entire universe - having the power to cut and regrow any part of the universe, as well as destroy it entirely, which is part of the Phoenix's purpose: "The Judgement of the Phoenix": to burn away what doesn't work. Recent interventions of the Phoenix suggest that "what doesn't work" is what has become stagnant instead of naturally evolving.

During its time as a sentient entity, it traveled the cosmos just like other cosmic beings though at first, the Phoenix Force was a formless mass of energy, but thousands of years ago, it came to Earth, and met a magician named Feron (who worshipped the legendary Phoenix), whose daydream-like visions prompted the Phoenix to adopt the firebird form it has today. He asked the Phoenix to help him by lending its energy to project a stone pillar (which resembled a lighthouse) across the multiverse. The pillar became the lighthouse base for the British superteam Excalibur (a team its future host Rachel Summers herself would join). Phoenix Force left Earth, but was called back when it felt the mind of a human transcend the physical realm, a mind that resonated with the Phoenix's energy. A young Jean Grey had telepathically linked her mind to her dying friend, Annie Richards, to keep Annie's soul from moving to the afterlife. In doing so, Jean's mind was being dragged along to the "other side" with Annie. Phoenix lent its energy to break the connection, and kept close watch on young Jean, as it felt a kinship with the young mutant. Years later when Jean was dying on a space shuttle, her mind called out for help and the Phoenix Force answered and saved her, transforming Jean into the Phoenix.

As originally written (Uncanny X-Men #101), the Jean Grey incarnation of the Phoenix was not a separate cosmic entity, but Jean herself, having attained her ultimate potential as a psychic, only to become slowly corrupted by the manipulation of such foes as Mastermind and Emma Frost; unable to adapt to her enormous power, Jean was driven mad. Becoming Dark Phoenix, Jean destroyed a planet populated by sentient creatures (by eating the Sun of that Planet's Solar System to sate her "hunger" as Dark Phoenix) and subsequently committed suicide on Earth's moon (Uncanny X-Men #137).

In order to return Jean to the fold several years later, this storyline was retconned to reveal the existence of the cosmic Phoenix Force entity, which had created a duplicate body of Jean, believed itself to be Jean, and acted in her place while the real Jean lay in a coma in the ocean. This let Jean be revived as a member of X-Factor. The extent to which the duplicate and Jean are separate entities depends on who is writing the character(s) at the time.

Part of the Phoenix Force joined with Jean's clone, Madelyne Pryor, until she also committed suicide and the Phoenix consciousness rejoined with the awakened Jean. Another possessor of the Phoenix Force is Rachel Summers, Jean's daughter from the Days of Future Past alternate future. She was able to access the Phoenix Force and it allowed to possess her to use limited amounts of its immense powers.


Later, when Rachel was sent into the future, Jean assumed the code name of Phoenix once again. She even began to manifest the Phoenix raptor without the Force. In New X-Men Jean and the Phoenix Force merged into one being. The Phoenix Force told Xavier, that "Jean is only the house where I live."

Powers and Abilities

The Phoenix Force possesses limitless cosmic energy. Alone, it is one of the most powerful entities in the Marvel Universe. When bonded with a telepathic host; it is stated (by Uatu, The Watcher) to be second in power only to "the Creator". The Phoenix Force can tap into the energy provided by life-force reserved for future generations, thus denying them existence. It can wield this energy to project beams of immense concussive force. It can transmigrate throughout time and space by folding its energy back into itself, causing it to collapse akin to a black hole. It then reforms itself upon reaching its destination. It can directly absorb energy such as Cyclops' optic blasts or the entire energy of a sun. The Phoenix Force can control life and death itself and is the Guardian of Creation. As it is the nexus of all psionic energy, it has cosmic mental abilities, including telepathy and telekinesis, and often seeks out hosts who have strong enough psionic abilities so they will be able to withstand the force's power, such as that of Emma Frost who could not bear the burden of Phoenix when it bonded with her. When bonded with a host, the Phoenix Force amplifies their abilities to incalculable levels. [b]It can manipulate matter on a sub-atomic level [/B](e.g., turning wood to gold, stone to crystal, etc). It can teleport others across vast distances across space and can also open wormholes to access corners of the Universe. Its powers appear to be at their strongest when bonded to Jean Grey (possessing the powers of telekinetic/telepathic godhood, complete control over the realms of matter, energy, and thought), as the two have a strange, profound connection to each other (Jean is the closest thing the Force has to physical form). If the Phoenix Force is harmed or killed, it will form an "egg" of cosmic power, incubate in the White Hot Room, and hatch out completely healed. The full extent of its power has yet to be explored.

The new version of Thanos in Supernova will be a very sought after piece whether for collection purposes or for a mighty playing piece with that Cosmic Power TA never before seen on standard heroclix dials.

Thanos

He is a Titanian Eternal and is often referred to as The Mad Titan. His name comes from the Greek language word thanatos, who was the personification of death in greek mythology.

character biography

Thanos was born on Saturn's moon, Titan. Although treated fairly by his people, Thanos grew distant and obsessive. By means of bionic implants and long hours of strength and ability-augmenting meditation, Thanos became the most powerful of the Titanian-born Eternals. (Note that the demonic Dragon of the Moon has claimed to be the influence of Thanos' evil tendencies.) Eros (his brother) and Thanos have a custom whereby each year they bury the hatchet and convene at a neutral place, usually bearing gifts. Thanos, since childhood, has been obsessed with the occult and, more specifically, Death. Mistress Death is Marvel's personification of the universal death force. Thanos' obsession developed into a twisted love and devotion. Thanos took hundreds-of-millions of lives in mass killings throughout the cosmos to appease his love, attempting to become her male companion. One nuclear strike by Thanos on the Titan Eternals resulted in millions of deaths, leaving Thanos as Titan's absolute dictator, with Eros and Mentor forming an underground resistence. Later, Thanos arrived on Earth, killing a family that accidentally saw him land. Thanos sought dominion of Earth as a stepping stone to his plans of conquering the rest of the galaxy. To this end, Thanos stole the power of Earth's Cosmic Cube, eventually absorbing all its energy to become a god on the level of Kronos, but was defeated by Captain Marvel, the Avengers, and the Titanian Eternals. Thanos later came to the conclusion that the Magus was a menace to his plans, raising the female assassin, Gamora, to destroy him. He joined forces with Adam Warlock to defeat Magus, but secretly drained some energy from Warlock's Soul Gem in the process.

After this, Thanos gathered energies all of the other Infinity Gems to power a machine to destroy all the stars in the universe as a gift to Death. Warlock attempted to prevent this but Thanos killed Gamora, and Pip the Troll, and mortally wounded Warlock. The Avengers, Captain Marvel, the Thing, Spider-Man, and Warlock's spirit (rising up from the Soul Gem) killed Thanos by turning him into stone.

Infinity Gauntlet

Years later, Thanos was revived by Death, who wanted him to reduce the overpopulation of the universe to one half. Lacking the power to do so on his own, Thanos found the true meaning of the Soul Gems by gazing into Death's Infinity Well. Thanos created the Infinity Gauntlet by stealing the Infinity gems from the Elders of the Universe, making him omnipotent. Once again he carelessly lost it, this time to the space pirate Nebula, who claimed to be his granddaughter. Warlock (having raised himself, Pip, and Gamora from the dead) recognized that Thanos was thwarted not only by intervention of superheroes, but by Thanos' own self-doubt.

After Thanos was told this, he helped Warlock take the Gauntlet from Nebula and then activated a self-destruct mechanism in his costume to deny the heroes a chance to imprison him. But Warlock saved Thanos, teleporting him to an agricultural planet where Thanos was told that Death had forsaken him. Now immortal, Thanos began to reform and, as a test of his vow, was given the reality infinity gem to protect. Thanos would make good on his promise, helping Earth's heroes to save the world from a new incarnation of the Magus and from the Goddess, which was Warlock's "benevolent" side given physical form. He also aided in saving Thor from a bout of madness.

Ultimately, the Infinity Watch disbanded and Thanos returned to villainy. He also made a bid to kill the Celestial Madonna Mantis and her son, but was forced to team up with her to save the universe. However, Thanos later made statements that implied this was a clone, but due to Death itself willing to embrace Thanos again thus revoking his absolute immortality makes the clone claim dubious. The sudden regression of Thanos's character were controversial and ultimately were dismissed as not being the real Thanos. In Infinity Abyss, it was revealed that after curing Thor of madness, Thanos began research on cloning with his own DNA as the foundation of his research. The result were a series of clones that were, to Thanos's horror, pure evil and had not undergone the necessary emotional and spiritual growth the real Thanos had undergone since losing the Infinity Gauntlet.

Epiphany

Thanos, reflecting on recent events where he had to give up great power to save the universe and coming to terms with himself as being a monster sets out to become a benevolent being and make up for his actions. On New Rigel-3, to the surprise of everybody he began to use his power for good. When a great evil called Hunger arose that threatened to destroy all of existence, Thanos along with with Adam Warlock and Pip set out to first kill Galactus. It was believed that if Hunger could control Galactus that all would be lost. In the final battle Thanos forced two planets to collide and also detonated a large nuclear device at the impact site. Caught in the resulting explosion were Hunger and Galactus. Galactus barely survives and Hunger is believed to be dead, but is seen flying through space.


Samaritan

Thanos enters the Kyln finding the beyonder inside and is now in the company of Skreet. He also takes the Fallen One as his own herald of sorts.


Annihilation

Thanos currently has a role within Marvel's Annihilation event, specifically within the Silver Surfer limited series, in which he has allied himself with Annihilus for an unknown purpose.

Powers and abilities

Thanos possesses immense superhuman power. The most powerful of the Titanian Eternals, Thanos is an Eternal mutant whose massive thick-hide body grants him the ability to synthesize cosmic energy for his personal use. (This is a trait that Thanos shares with his father, Alars, and the Earth-born Eternals, but not with most Titan-born Eternals.)

Through meditation, certain mystical techniques, and the aid of Death itself, Thanos has augmented his power in still other ways — enabling him to tap, transform, and direct vast quantities of cosmic energy for destructive force. Thanos has also demonstrated psionic abilities (e.g. telepathy, astral projection, mental domination). Thanos possesses a vast array of highly advanced technology; examples include his flagship capable of devestating worlds, protective shielding and a compact device (always concealed on him) enabling him to teleport vast distances.

In addition, according to Thanos himself, he is somehow invisible to Lord Chaos and Master Order; he taunted the In-Betweener with this revelation after wresting one of the Infinity Gems from him in battle. Indeed, when both Lord Chaos and Master Order themselves came to the battle site (where they had imprisoned the In-Betweener some time before), they dealt with the In-Betweener as if he had somehow broken out of his dimensional prison on his own; in fact, it was Thanos himself who breached the confines of the In-Betweener's prison.

In this, he seems to share a similar ability to Adam Warlock, about whom the Great Powers of the Universe themselves said that his future is unknown even to them. However, it has also sometimes been stated that the Infinity Gems make their users outside of the inlfuence of the Great Powers and since Thanos had one at the moment and the support of the abstract Death the reason Chaos and Order couldn't sense him may have been due to these reasons.

Aside from his great power, Thanos is a superb tactician and is well-versed in many areas of arcane lore. He possesses technology that allows him to travel through time and between alternate dimensions. He is also a highly formidable hand-to-hand combatant, having fought the likes of Odin, Lord of Asgard, and the Galactus-Spawned Tyrant (with the aid of one of Tyrant's power-enhancing orbs) to near stand-stills. Thanos also trained his adopted daughter Gamora to become one of the universe's most adept and feared female assassins.

Origin of Sabretooth

Is Sabretooth related to Wolverine?

Sabretooth is not Wolverine's father.Chris Claremont had meant for Sabretooth to be Wolverine's father, though this was retconned by subsequent writers later on. Claremont, when asked what he had intended to be the relationship between Wolverine and Sabretooth, stated:

Father and son. That's why Sabretooth always considered Logan "sloppy seconds" to his "original" / "real deal." The other critical element in my presentation of their relationship was that, in their whole life, Logan has never defeated Sabretooth in a knock-down, drag-out, kill-or-be-killed berserker fight. By the same token, on every one of his birthdays, Sabretooth has always managed to find him, no matter where Logan was or what he was doing, and come within an inch of killing him. For no other reason than to remind him that he could."[2]
In Wolverine Vol. 2 #42, tests done by S.H.I.E.L.D confirmed that Sabretooth and Wolverine were not father and son. However, this did not prove that there was not a more distant relation. Cousins, nephews, and half-brothers would not have nearly the genetic resemblance that a father and son would.


Sabretooth greatly resembles Dog Logan.In the limited series, Origin, Wolverine's probable half-brother Dog Logan was introduced. As an adult the character appeared much like Sabretooth, but with facial scars Sabretooth does not have. Some have theorized that Sabretooth's healing factor may have been a secondary mutation, eventually healing the scars. The writer, Paul Jenkins, stated in interviews ([3], [4]) that he personally had not intended Dog to be Sabretooth, but he has left it open for future writers to explore the possibility.

Sabretooth killed Wolverine's wife Silver Fox who is also a part of Team X in their past.
