Good points: MC all down his dial, taking feedback damage increases his attack and gives him incap, Super Senses, Shape Change and Mastermind are all good powers.
Bad points: He has one click with an AV above 9, and it's not his starting point. It makes him look bad when compared to Ultimate X or even Shadow King. His range is a paltry 8, and his damage value is too low to fix it with Extended Range.
I didn't like him at first but I've come around. Triple target mind control's going to hurt him on the feedback, but that's where the triple target incapacitate clicks come in very handy as an intriguing alternative. He really should have had some perplex.
So Purple Man is THE definative mind controller! Cheap, multi-purpose, and best of all, he defends himself! Somehow it doesn't show that he has Shape Change. But he does. If you want Mind Control with low obligations, this is your man!
Looking at his dial, he really should be playable. Maybe with the right support staff he would be. When I try to use him, though, he gets pounded. Mediocre attack value. Mediocre defenses.
Three Target mind control is great in theory, but in reality this guy just gets eaten alive by feedback damage. Good Luck masterminding off those unpreventable clicks.
People's keep saying to put mental shields to the multiple bolt mind controllers. Sorry but no. If i'm correct, mental shield allows you to target only one fig, so, where's the point ? The whole interest of the 3 bolts mind controllers is actually to mind control...3 targets ?? Yes, i think it is.
By the way, i don't like purple man. I prefer Psycho-man or N'astirh, even if they are more expensive. And, i prefere Doctor Destiny too, and he's cheaper.
I take it players didn't appreciate a good mind control piece back in the day......or 2011 either for that matter. The fact is purpleman just happens to be one of the best mindcontrol game pieces available even by todays standard. Why? Let's see....triple bolts, shape change/super senses combo making him impossible to actually hit (assuming he doesn't force you to jump off a bridge first) master mind for longevity. This guy has all the strengths of triple mind controllers with NONE of the weaknesses. The problem with new and old mind controllers alike is they could be thethe victom of a one shot very easily. Dr. Destiny, shadowing, psycho-man, ring master. Purpleman has a rare attack value inconsistency that allows him not to suffer from plummeting stats. His AV drops then spikes up again. If you would rather not take feedback either mental shield him and enjoy mindcontrolling one powerhouse, or restrict your triple target mind controlling to opponents 99 points or less. Purpleman still remains one of the top mind control pieces......he has aged very well.I finally just now found him in stock (a rarity ) and can't wait to use him.

:star: How are you fighting me?: purple man modifys his attack value by -1 when targeting an opposing character that can use willpower.
:star: You are my puppets, now dance.: At the beginning of the game, roll one d6. on a result of 1-4 purpleman can give 1 action to an opposing character of his choice at the begining of his turn. on a result of 5-6. purpleman can give two free actions to a single oppposing character at the begining of his turn. action tokens are applied to that character.
:m-boot: Your entire goverment wrapped around my finger: purple man can use stealth and mindcontrol. he does not take damage based on the point value of opposing characters during the use of mindcontrol if he only targets one character. if he targets more than one character, normal mindcontrol rules apply
:a-fist: Secreting psychoactive chemicals: purpleman can use incapacitate, poison and psychic blast.
:d-normal: To kill me,you must first kill your friends: purpleman can use super senses, shape change and mastermind. purpleman can transfer damage to characters with a higher point value. if he does, give him an action token. if he cannot legally receive a token then he cannot transfer the damage to a higher point value.
:g-starburst: Deaden your will: purpleman can use perplex. he can use it normally or modify any combat value by -3. if he does so, give purpleman 1 unavoidable after actions resolve.

This figure isn't one of the best out there, but with the new rules to Mind Control and Incap, this guy got a whole lot better. Triple target MC and only taking 1 damage is pretty cool and Incapping 3 dudes is a mean trick.
