The orbital assault was visible from the surface of Kharida as bright flashes of color and flame, like fireworks. It was almost beautiful. On the surface, it was calm and silent. A ragged breeze picked up at intervals, and there was a chill that went against logic. Perhaps that was what set Brainiac 5 on edge; the way the planet defied logic. He drove such frivolous thoughts from his mind and remembered the true danger, here – a danger that none of his teammates were even aware of. If he did his job here, then they would never need to be.
*The entrance is across that bluff,* Saturn Girl said telepathically to the assembled group. *Which places the vents right around here.*
“Perfect,” the Invisible Kid said. “Looks like we can classify that survey gear we tested out as ‘operational.’”
“Pfft,” Shrinking Violet shrugged. “You were the one set against using it, Lyle.”
“Stay focused,” Brainiac said. “The base is subterranean so as to avoid damage from the frequent debris showers as all that up there--" he pointed to the sky to indicate the orbiting scrapyard, “--falls down here. That means two things. First, it’s near impregnable to orbital bombardment. Secondly, it needs fresh air pumped in, purified, and circulated. That’s our entrance.”
“So, should we go over the plan again?” Chameleon Boy asked.
*No problem,* Saturn Girl said. *Phase one, enter the vents and take them through to the central complex. Phase two, locate the command deck and survey the layout. If support is light, we proceed to 2-A and lock down the CD. If the odds are against us, we move to 2-B and use the stealth option.*
“Regardless, phase three is the most vital,” Brainiac insisted. “The prime-drive computer network must be destroyed. And when I say destroyed, I mean every scrap of silicon is to be disintegrated.”
Saturn Girl looked at him questioningly. *No point trying to dig,* he thought out to her, detecting her mental probe. He pointed to his forehead. *I always know when you’re ‘in here’ Imra.* He spoke outward for the rest of the team, “That computer is what is providing them their intelligence, equipment, and very likely their powers.”
“What does that mean?” the Invisible Kid asked.
“I’ve done gene-scans on those members I could retrieve material from between personal meetings and residue from later engagements, and only a small percentage are natural-born. Somebody’s been amping up flatliners.”
“So if we neutralize the comp-net, we kill their ability to build new supers,” Violet finished.
“Precisely. Now get moving – we’ve no time to waste.”

“Sprock,” Invisible Kid said. They had wound their way through to the command center of the complex, past the empowerment rooms where new faux-Legionnaires were made. They passed training rooms, barracks, and lounges, and saw dozens of teens in bright, bold costumes; but the problem was the security in the command deck.
“There’s more than we allowed for,” Phantom Girl sighed. “We can’t engage.”
“No,” Brainiac said. His eyes were narrow – what was he seeing that they weren’t? He was absolutely inscrutable to the rest of them. “We have to move in.”
“What? Why?” Chameleon Boy asked.
“We go in, and we go in now,” Brainiac pressed. “Remember what I said – the computer must be destroyed utterly.”
*I don’t like this…*
“You don’t have to like it. You merely have to do everything I say, when I say, and you will live. To do otherwise courts total destruction.”
*Alright, Brainy,* Saturn Girl sighed. *But we pull out if it gets too hot, computer be damned.*
“Either it is, or we all are. Remember that…”

Woo hoo! The Espionage squad!! Cool...dunno about Karate Kid being on the bad side..hope it's not Val Armorr...
Remember something valuable: These kids think they're being heroes. Some are misguided, some are being lied to, and others are anxious to get some revenge for how they've been treated.
You'll notice Polar Boy and Blok also among the LSV ranks-- would you consider them villainous?
It's this very conundrum at the heart of Cosmic Boy's current philosophical crisis, and an important aspect of what's going on right now.

Ah okay..yeah I wondered about Polar Boy as well...and forgot Blok was there as well in their first appearance...hmm..okay thanks for the clarification, Shear!
Oh and also how is experience handled? Do all the subs get only TAP and Brainy and Saturn Girl are the only ones that get IAP?
Man, but you got some good ground pounders.... I'm gonna have a tough time against Ultron with the espionage squad...it's not like they're heavy hitters or anything like that...darn I wish Cham had Entangle..that would've helped a LOT...
Hmm...I think Shear meant IC for Antman LE, not Hypertime.
