In case you aren't familiar, Starcraft is a unit building game for the computer, it has campaign, skirmish and multiplayer modes. I was playing skirmish on the expansion version as the protoss.
okay, here's my strategy:
step 1: bulid 2 darch templars
step 2: have them do dark archon warp
step 3: upgrade mind control at the templar archives
step 4: mind control enemy builder unit (zerg drone or terran SCV)
step 5: build hatchery or command center, in order to build more builders
step 6: build my now protoss and zerg (in this case) army to win the game!!!
yeah, carriers are awesome, with 4 carriers full of interceptors and an arbiter at base to use recall when they're done killing everything, there's nothing you can't do. spore colonies are helpless against carriers, because they just target the interceptors instead of the carriers, once, my carriers got plague cast on them, but thanks to their shields, they were largely unharmed.
Unless it's a flight based map, they rock! I love rushing a base with 8-9 squads with 10 marines + 2 medics (3 is to many, you loose firepower, and don't get enough of a bump on healing, 1 is to little to keep the squad going).
Stim Pack away and watch the carnage ensue.
"Un-fun Dad, un-fun Dad,
He's so bad, he mak'a me mad
Un-fun Dad, un-fun Dad
He's a real cad, Un-fun Dad"
Different strategy for different games.
We always liked to play 3v3 or 4v4 on home made maps.
Massed Lurkers was always fairly crazy.
Ghost infiltration was fun too, especially if you had multiple Nuke silos.
Terran: I would commonly use squad tactics. I'd open up with basic infantry, fully decked with 8 marines, 2 firebats, and 2 medics. I'd usually have 3-4 squads of that, backed by 12 Goliaths, then backed by 12 Siege Tanks.
I'd also go for a Battlecruiser win sometimes, if my defenses held out well enough. Just bunker up, and protect your mining colonies. Get 12 Battlecruisers, fully upgrade them, and run with them.
Ghost infiltration is always fun, too, but it's not a very cost effective way of fighting. I use it as an ace in the hole in the middle of a firefight, but that's about it.
Zerg: Hordes of Hydralisks. Burrow them all over the map, wait for people to run their troops over their heads, and pop up for the kill. I'd usually have 5 or 6 hordes at my home base.
Protoss: Every strategy works. Sometimes I've taken 24 Dragoons and just mopped the floor in an 8-player match. I'm always a fan of building an impressive fleet, though. Having a few Scouts and Corsairs in front, with 12 Carriers, with two Arbiters and 4 Observers tailing them. Now THAT's a fun fleet!

My Starcraft strategy, which has become quite famous in my circle of friends because everybody stopped to listen while I explained it to a newbie player at a LAN party, roughly translates as "Build more dudes."
The nice thing about multiplayer on massive maps, is that you could be a
little self indulgent though, regardless of cost efficiency.
Your teammates could take the strain a little while you build 6 Nuke silos
and run 12 ghosts into the heart of enemy territory.
Massed Carriers was pretty much outlawed.
The lag that popped up in a screen full of maxed carriers made it impossible
to click on the screen properly.

Meh, that's why I don't play many games online anymore. I prefer doing LAN parties, where you don't have lag.
Then again, if someone's PC still can't handle 12 carriers on the same screen, then he needs to put some RAM in there.
