Wasn't he a hero during the Nineties? He saved Washington from a bomb and he was among Superman's force in Panic in the Sky.

What gives? I thought he was (and is) totally evil.

I think Deathstroke is on whomever's side is willing to pay him the most. His allegiance is to money mostly.

Even then... old Deathstroke had some "morales" too or something didn't he? I mean after all he turned down the Titans job... for some reason and only accepted it after his son failed at the mission and was killed.

After the whole Terra stuff he ends up helping the titans for a bit. Right on up to what your talking about I think actually. He's brutal... definitly not "evil" really though. Just one of those villains that has enough morales (and popularity) to play the anti-hero when he wants.

Deathstroke had/has a "Code of Honour" he follows and since his introduction he's being trying to retire (things keep getting in the way). Neither of these things mean he's "good", just interesting.

The problem was he got so popular DC went the Venom route and gave him his own book and kept concocting reasons to have him work with the heroes. It didn't really work out so well and now they're back to basics.

He also lead the Titans for a while during "Titan's Hunt" when their goals lined up (he wanted to find Jericho I think). But he didn't stay with the team after that story.

He's more of a meaniepants now than he used to be.

Deathstroke was a "good guy" as much as Venom was one. He was a part of the whole 90's "They're so bad, they're good" movement.

Doesn't he lead a new league of assassins that has Batgirl now?

no, Deathstroke will be putting together an evil version of the Teen Titans called Titans East. Batgirl will be a part of that group and is suppose to be the counter-point to Robin.

Batgirl still leads the League of Assassins as far as I know (but she hasn't called me in a while).
