Energy Explosion, Pulsewave, Shapchng and Mystics.
A few tricky situations occured while playing a recent game of clix. Its been quite a while since I've played so if you have time I was wondering for some clarifications.
When making a pulsewave(Havok) attack, the wave hits a mystic. Does (Havok) take damage since the mystic wasnt the actual target?
(Cyclops) Makes an EE attack, the attack works. The Target Character is Next to a Mystic. Does (Cyclops) take damage even though the target character was not the mystic?
Scenario- Cyclops is next to Havok and Mystique.(Friendly) He is the target of the energy explosion. The attack is successful with a crit hit. Do all characters take two damage plus the +1 wall impact? and Does Mystique get the shapechange at all during this manuevour? thank you.
Magneto was Right!
"A touch of overkill, aye there Squinty"- Wolverine to Cyclops after a Mega Optmic Blast.
As for the critical hit question, the PAC actually does say that:
"A critical hit with this attack automatically hits the
target(s) and any characters adjacent to the target(s) and deals 1 additional click of damage, even if a character would be hit
multiple times by the attack." As for the shape-change, no, it wouldn't take effect:
"When this character is chosen as the target of an attack"
Mystique was not chosen as the target, therefore, no shapechange roll.
As for the mystics, I don't know; if I had to guess, I'd say that it wouldn't effect the attacker because it is not a direct attack against the mystic, therefore, no attack against the mystic took place.
BUT,
The mystics TA states that if the mystic takes damage, the attacker takes the feedback damage.
I don't know.

I read in the Pulsewave rules that it ignores ALL Team Abilities, Powers and Feats. Therefore, from what I take outta this, even if you DO hit someone with the Mystics TA, you take no damage because Team Abilities are folly.

No. Pulse Wave ignores powers, feats, and abilities.

Yep. Mystics requires two things... that the Mystic take damage and that the damage be from an attack. The Mystic doesn't necessarily have to be the target of the attack.

All characters hit by the attack would be dealt 2 damage... 1 from the EE and 1 from the crit hit. All characters would take knock back, starting with the character furthest away from the attacker. If any are knocked back into blocking terrain or off of elevated terrain, they would take the appropriate damage for that.
In order for a character to get it's Shape Change roll, it has to be the target of the attack. In your scenario, Cyclops was the target so Mystique would not get the Shape Change roll.
There are 542,000 children in foster care. Talk to your local foster and adoptive agency. You could change a life.
Mastermind is a power, and so is super-senses. Pulsewave ignores ALL powers (as well as feats and TA's) with NO exceptions whatsoever
So no, you do not get to Mastermind off pulsewave damage, or try to dodge it with super-senses.
As for the second question, Energy Explosion does NOT ignore powers at all, so yes, you can Mastermind EE damage off to an unfortunate underling who'll then take even more splash damage
Super-senses also works perfectly well against splash damage, but in case of multiple explosions hitting the same target with super-senses, you only roll once. Either you avoid it all, or you take it all.
I hope that helps
