I have to admit I grew up being a narrow minded Marvel Zombie. I would not even give DC titles a second look. That has all changed.
I noticed over the last 2 months or so that my Marvel pull list has been declining while my DC pull list has been steadily increasing. This week marked the first time in my comic book history that I have purchased more DC than Marvel. The biggest reason for my new found love of everything DC?
52
For me it has everything a good, well written, well paced comic story should have. I find myself for the first time in a loooong time having trouble waiting for the next issue, and it's out EVERY WEEK without fail. If this was a monthly I would be insane by now.
I just finished reading Week 43, and realized while sitting there how much this series has changed my buying habits. It is a liitle weird however. For some reason I find myself feeling like a traitor.
Oh well!

I know what you mean Carnage. I was first introduced to comics via Marvel if you don't count my orignial fascination and continued fascination of the Phantom Comic Strip. I have the first 300 issues of X-Men. I have a good amount of Thor. All of the Marvel Conan stuff including the What if he was a pimp in modern times (Awesome). However, I grew to appreciate DC more and more over the years and now my favorite comics are DC with the exception of Conan's new run, Fables, Top 10, and Powers.
I will have to say that 52 has completely blown my expectations out of the water. Not only is it a good series with solid art, decent continuity, the introduction of great character cameos (Richard Dragon), but it comes out weekly. I don't remember when I picked up issue 2 of Wolvie vs. Hulk but I gave up waiting for issue 3. Civil War was delayed quite a bit along with Ultimates (My favorite Marvel line right now until Thor and Herc join back up in the 616). But I digress. 52 is something that proves that the comic lines can give the readers what they want and on a deadline with consistently quality week after week and I applaud them for this.
I'm kidding, though it has cost those of us in Canada a fair bit. In all honesty, Identity Crisis was what hooked me into DC. There are those around here who will gripe and moan about the series, but I for one loved it.
As for 52, yes it's been awesome. There were two or three issues (out of 43 thus far) that fell a little flat, and that's to be expected quite frankly. However, it's quickly appearing that every single story we've read thus far has been a swerve of some type. So, it makes me wonder about a few things that have yet to be addressed. Should be good.
Problem lies in the fact that once 52 is over, Countdown begins. I'm wondering how many years I'll be buying a DC comic every week. Because once the Countdown ends, I'm sure something else will take it's place.
Oh, and that's fine by me.

Yes, I love 52. It's been well done IMHO. Not always the best comic, but far from the worse and definitley the most consistent. It's the first comic I read every week, regardless of what else comes in.
