I loved his early contributions to Marvel. Revitalizing a dying tpb format, marvel knights, ultimate line, etc....
But now he seems interested in destroying the marvel universe. My examples
1. Speedball. Character was dry as toast when he was introduced, Fabian made him a truly fun character in New Warriors, light-hearted and funny. I loved that character, and it is a staple in my RPG campaign that I run. But because Q had a hard-on to kill the character, he has to turn him into this S+M freak that wants people to hurt him. This Penance is not Robbie Baldwin, I refuse to let bad story-telling to ruin one of my favorite characters. Speedball will live on, at least in MY stories
2. Spider-Man. Sure the character is always tormented. thats his shtick. But the "lets kill aunt may" thing has only occured a dozen times, you'd think Petey would be used to the ideo of losing her by now
3. Captain America. Lame. Lets do the same thing to him that we used a long time ago on John Walker, where he is publicly assassinated and no one will know its him when he puts on the suit again. And lets make sure it gets LOTS of press so we can have non-comic fans picking up the book, like what happened when DC killed Supes. Cap is one of those characters you just don't kill, especially in such a mundane way. Guy has been shot umpteen million times over the course of his existance, and i'm supposed to buy that this time its real? If it is, thats really sad.
please, feel free to post your reasons why he should hit the unemployment line, or also offer up why you think he is deserving of his position as destroyer of characters.
...because he's Joey Q. That's about the quickest way to sum it up.
Marvel writer: Hey Joey, I want to kill off any bad guy written before 1990, because they're lame, is that ok?
Joey Q: Yeah sure, whatever <goes back to pinball>
Though the reverse is true too, unfortunately.
Bendis: "Hey Joey, I want to bring back any bad guy who died, reformed or retired before 2000 because I need a bunch of extras for the big jail-break scene I'll open New Avengers with, and then abandon completely, is that ok?"
Joey Q: "Why do you even ask me? You're Bendis, you can do whatever you want, remember?"

From the ashes of Paragon City... it rises!
I'm sure there's a lot of people that dislike the big JQ a lot more than I do, but there are certainly some decisions he's made that jsut boggle my mind. The evil that is Chuck Austen was on flagship titles for - what - at least two or three years? And most of that was after the travesty that was the Draco....
Disassembled/House of M was empty and lame and had many people out of character just to hammer square pegs into round plot holes.
Civil War was the same.
Hudlin is STILL WRITING BLACK PANTHER.
He let Bruce Jones screw up the Hulk for years. I want to have hope for awesome World War Hulk, but I fear it'll be just the same overhyped carp every other crossover is.
The only Marvel titles I collect, Dark Tower and Squadron Supreme, do not involve Marvel characters. I had picked up Avengers and FF but with Reed and Tony's actions in Civil War, I could not anymore. Cap's death was the final straw. I do not mind his death, just HOW he died. If anyone deserves a hero's death, it is Cap.

If you really want him fired, stop buying Marvel books. If Marvel's sales rapidly drop, they will do some major housecleaning.
If you are still shelling out $3.00 or more for books you don't like, you're not really making much impact. Only by using your true power, that is, your spending money, can you make a difference on the comic book (or any) industry.
Against nepotism in all it's forms. Especially in a family-run business.

You know it. I've already voted with my wallet. Feel my wrath! Everyone should be dropping these books like a skeezy chick with the clap.
Do we even need a list? Really, that's like making a list of why waste matter needs to be expelled from your body.
Seriously, right now he looks good to Marvel high-up's because he brings in money and for that reason he shouldn't be fired. It initially looks like he's doing his job. Unfortunately - and this is why he needs some check/balances -fast- he's doing it in the same way that set up the 90's.
Cashing in on "fan events" that'll bring in speculators to up the hype and "special issue" sales but will eventually bottom out and cause a glut? Yep.
Catering to "hot names" to the point where the hot names feel they don't even need to stick to deadlines and the readers can just bear it if they want to witness the "majesty" though eventually the hot names are going to demand more and more until they go off on their own? Signs point to "Yes".
Etc. Etc. Etc.
The reasons against Joe Q have nothing to do with seeing "fan favourite" characters die or even letting the obsession with 70's-retro-rage continue but finances and some of his decisions are definitely looking like "fast burning for short-term gains but long-term problems".
"Nobody important? That's amazing. You know, in 900 years of traveling time and space I've never met someone who wasn't important."

AMEN!!!!!!!!! I haven't been to my comic book store since HE killed Cap!
And, I won't be back until he's gone. I used to spend anywhere between $100 and $150 monthly. 80% of which was Marvel, yes thats a lot of comics.
