Here's what I did. It's pretty simple. Use a quick claw and a reliable Paralizing Pokemon. Then hope that Paralysis holds out long enough for you to weaken it. When I used a nest ball the battle ended quickly after the paralysis because he was like... 5 levels weaker.
Try that.
10-2-08 I just put a bunch of stuff on eBay including a numbered Super Skrull Illuminati and a CoG Galactus. Check it out.
Use a Poke ball, Great Ball...Ultra ball...heck use any ball. If you attack him, He'll teleport, so just throw the ball straight away. Itll work eventually, no matter what ball you're using.
I ended up hurling a great ball and it captured him instantly. Now, he's a kadabra, and I am eager to turn him into an alakazam, but I don't think I know anyone else with emerald for gameboy advance, oh well.

I'd just sweep the leg.
Check out Al's Clix Cave. I didn't make this site and get nothing for putting this in my sig. This site is JUST THAT GOOD.

Do you have Wireless internet? If you do it should be easy.
Go downstairs in any Pokemon Centre, speak to the woman on the left and get your friend code, then post it here, We'll add you and give you our codes, and we can trade wirelessly over the internet.
You might as well import that Kadabra to your Diamond/Pearl game right away since Kadabra and Alakazaam both learn the same level up moves at the same level, and Alakazaam does have better stats. The only reason to train in the past games would to get some of the exclusive moves such as the elemental punches to be taught to certain Pokemons.
To get your friend code, you must first go to the second floor of the Orebrough Pokemon center and obtain your Pal Pad. Attempt to connect online, and you will receive a message that you have no friend codes registered and be given your own friend code.
Practice makes perfect, but then again nobody is perfect so why practice?
