i just have few quick questions
1. If phantom girl used her power to make someones defense raised by two does it last into my opponents turn? If not why would you ever use it?
2. If i have a grounded figure one space away from a giant so the giant is adjacent can i still use a ranged attack on him? Does it stop me from shooting anyone else?
3. If lockjaw carrys a joker does joker automatically break away?

1. It is Saturn Girl who has this power. You had me really confused. No, it is for your turn only unless they errata it. The only use I can think of is energy explosion where you boost your friend's defence while you hit adjacent enemies. Overall, pretty useless
I am hoping that you simply have to declare it and it is good for one action (i.e. to the first action of or against that character)
2. If you are a flier, yes. If you are grounded, no. Yes, you cannot attack a non-adjacent person with a ranged attack if you are adjacent to an enemy figure
If you were two spaces away you could attack anyone in your range or the giant as you are not adjacent for ranged combat purposes
3. Why would you need to break away from your own figure?
Wait, I got it
Since Lockjaw has Phasing, he can automatically break away and anyone he carries is 'yoinked' without a roll

Just to clarify: Even if Lockjaw had to breakaway (hit P/T is Outwitted, for example), Joker would not need to breakaway.
As per the rulebook (p. 20 LoSH and DR), a figure that moves as a result of being given an action requires a breakaway roll. Since, in the above example, Joker is not being given any type of action (Lockjaw is), no breakaway is required for Joker.

Giant Characters
Q: Can a character that is two squares away from an opposing giant character make a ranged combat attack to the
giant character? Could the giant character make a ranged combat attack to an opposing character two squares away?
A: Yes to both cases. Giant characters are adjacent to other characters for close combat and movement purposes
only. Other characters are adjacent to giant characters for movement only.
EDIT: I would infer from this that the giant and the character two squares away would also be able to make ranged combat attacks against any figure in range.
shade: read the original post. The OP scenario has the giant and attacker 1 square away from each other (in other words, directly next to each other), not 2 spaces away, as referred to in the FAQ.

My pardons, I misread it as one square between them.
