I think its kinda venue to venue on that right now. I think you have to attend all five where I play. They dont want people doing what you are suggesting.

As far as this is Approved Play, according to WK you only show up to the events that you want. If that's just for the big G, then so be it. They have also mandated events happen the same day at (give or take) the same time to prevent "prize sharking", and allowed winners of previous events at a given venue to get a 1st round bye. However, (if you believe what is posted by some) some venues have stated threat they will only allow "regular" players to play in the main event. I feel this violates the spirit of AP, but that's just me. Under those rules, I feel for anyone who works weekends, who may have to take a vacation day to attend a Galactus event. Or those who have a vacation scheduled for one of the Heralds events. "Sorry, you weren’t hear last week...can't play." It's a matter of perspective. Some players feel that it's "their" (the local play group) prize, where other see AP as come if you can play even if you are an "outsider". I do not think WK has officially weighed in on this issue!

WK has made no such requirement; any kind of 'you must play in previous tournaments to play for Galactus' is a house rule...
... and all I can say to that is any venue doing this better make d*** sure that this house rule is clearly posted as required by Approved Play (both on the on-line event description and physically posted in the venue). If I happened to be travelling or on vacation or some such during the week of the Galactus event and found a 'normal' seeming venue on line, went there expecting to play, but then got turned away by a poorly posted house rule, you can bet your bottom dollar I would report that venue to AP the instant I got near a computer with e-mail access.
you do not need to attend any of weeks to play for galactus,... but that is why wizkids wants every venue to play at the same time/day.
ofcourse I heard judges at different venues around chicagoland say if you only show up to the last game they would want you to buy a brick to play for galactus,....
I would talk to the judge/venue to find out what they are planing to do if you are only going to attend that week.
well I already paid for my brick and am ready for the games so I don't have to worry about that stuff
i don't think it's too much to ask to play the herald events at the venue you plan on trying for Galactus at. they put out ALOT of money in order to be able to host it, the least you could do is throw a few bones their way to say thanks for doing that!
Contrary to popular belief, I do know what I'm doing
right, i completely agree with you guys that, if you can, you should attend all 5 events (and i plan to for 2 separate venues, the final games are at 12 and 6:30). i was just wondering if i should expect a few ringers or not....

And I certainly agree with that in principle, but as has been said it needs to be clearly laid down ahead of time or else there could be big problems for the venues.
I think my old venue has a rule where you have to attend at least two of the Herald events to play for Galactus. That seems fair to me. Besides, the Galactus event is sealed - if a person doesn't go to any of the Herald events and thus can't use the HEralds, they're probably not going to have much of a shot, because I have a feeling the Herlads will own the Big G tournaments. I could be wrong, that's just my impression.
And if I can't? If I can only attend 2 of the 4 herald events due to other obligations, I shouldn't be allowed to compete for Galactus?!?!
Any venue that can afford to run their business that way obviously doesn't need me as a customer for future events.
did i say you couldnt? i think you need to calm down. i specifically said "if you can." i never said anything about if you can't. if you can't, that is up to you, i'm not going to complain if do or do not attend all 5.

Or what about the venues that normally wouldn't purchase that much product, and no one comes for any event BUT wk 5. Now they bought that much product anticipating selling it all during weeks 1-4 and are stuck. Oh yeah, THAT'LL help venues...

Sorry, I didn't mean to jump on you specifically. I just used yours as a post to springboard off on for all those who are saying "my venue says you have to play in all 5".

I agree it would be pretty stupid.
But a venue would not need to post any House Rules, to set the entry fee at whatever they want it to be.
I have heard rumor that at least one venue is charging a $100 event fee that lets you play in any or all events.
I think its dumb, but its a God given right to wallow in your own stupidity.
