1. If a Nightcrawler with HSS is in an enclosed room on the LoSH indoor map and my Ult. Hulk from the Avengers set is blocking the one square that isn't blocking terrain, can he run through me with HSS basically?
2. The wording on Laz Pit says "You MAY heal one click or bring back into play", does that mean you HAVE to?
Played a game with some friends last night and those 2 things were the only issues argued.
1. Not unless Nightcrawler were a flyer. HSS only allows you to ignore adjacency issues when moving past characters (like Leap/Climb). It does not let you ignore characters completely.
2. It refers to the "one or the other" part. You May heal him. If you don't, you bring him back into play.
Just for clarification, if Nightcrawler is in a room like this.....
__________
|_|_|_|_|_|
|N|_|_|_|_|
|_|_|_|_|X
N = Nightcrawler
X = Ult. Hulk (Giant)
The entire border is blocking since they are walls.
Ult. Hulk is in the only clear square, NC can't move past him even if NC has allies adjacent to Hulk but behind him? That was the whole argument and it actually won the game for them eventually because their team has 6 Multiple Men with Nightcrawler having Armor Piercing wreaking havoc. I thought I had him trapped like a rat too
Assuming that the line behind the Hulk is the entrance and all other sides are walls, like this
|_|_|_|_|_|_|
|_|N|_|_|_|_|
|_|_|_|_|_|X|
NC could HSS on the 45 degree angle past the Hulk from the squares above or below him
If some is in the square directly behind the Hulk then all possible exits for NC are blocked. If it is your character behind Hulk and NC has enough movement to get to a legal final square, then, to quote Monty Python's Magnum Opus, "RUN AWAY, RUN AWAY!"
As to Laz Pit, it says 'At the beginning of each player’s turn, you may either heal the character of 1 damage or return it to the battlefield on the square with the Special marker.'
There are only two options listed there, either 'heal the character of 1 damage' or 'return it to the battlefield'
So since he can move at a 45 degree angle past me even if the other squares behind me are occupied, he can get away? Bleh. I wanted to trap him so bad too. It was still hilarious when I did it because of the look on their faces before they started figuring out the loophole.

Depends
If it is your guy in the square behind the Hulk, he is trapped like a rat. A very fast moving, super-sensed up rat
But a rat nonetheless
If it is his guy, he is out of there like an atomic super rat (sorry, got a theme going today)
The HSS speed allows NC to move through squares adjacent to opposing characters. If those adjacent squares contain friendly characters, it's okay because friendly characters can move through squares contain friendly characters.
The fact that Hulk is a Giant is irrelevant due to NC's HSS power.
To put it another way, you need to block the doorway with edit: TWO squares of opposing characters to trap NC because he can indeed move through the diagonals.
And just to spread some knowledge, since NC is a non-flier, hindering terrain can be substituted for opposing characters in the situation above; h.t. will stop NC in its square. It's great fun to put a diamond Smoke Cloud around NC (or J Quick or Meanstreak) in order to nerf them.
I don't think you can move past characters at a 45 degree angle like that
In fact I'm 99% sure you can't
Well, then you may wish to go back and reread the movement rules. Character can move on the diagonal (costing 1 movement point, same as moving horizontally or diagonally) to adjacent sqaures. Those two squares on the diagonal next to Hulk are indeed adjacent (check the close combat rules, if nothing else convinces you).
Now, since Nightcrawler gets to move next to Hulk with no worries thanks to HSS, he can squeeze right through on that diagonally adjcent square. The only way he couldn't is if the square he was trying to move to was blocked either by another opposing character or by a piece of blocking terrain (if an opponent had Barrier, say).

Clixer11 is right... you CAN move through 45 degree angles past opposing figures if you have HSS... you ignore the adjacency as if they were friendly figures (except that you can't go through the square they are in).
[edit]Dang! NV beat me again!
-Heroclix is not a game of logic, it's a game of strategy .... after all, when's the last time that you saw a giant (using a stealth ability) that was hiding behind a swingset... and nobody could SEE him????

After I posted I went and read the rules, and re read the thread. I think I misunderstood the situation at first as well. I just never got around to fixing my post because I figured people'd go with the majority anyway

Which is why I always play Swingline on grounded speedsters!
Thanks for the added input guys. It's better that it was in fact correct we played it that way or I'd never hear the end of it from my friends (one of whom is a judge).
