I disagree. Maddux Smoltz, and Glavien will all make it on first ballet. And my guess is, they'll all be together in a special section of cooperstown. Thats how I'd want it done if i was them.

I disagree to your disagreement. I don't think Glavine has been a truly dominating pitcher during his entire career. He had some good years and has been consistent. 300 wins is not a first year lock into the HoF. I don't think Smoltz will be first year either. Both will make it, but not in their first year.

The plaques are put in order of year of induction. So Glavine, Maddux and Smoltz may not necessarily be together, but they will have their place in the part of Cooperstown where they display the different decades. I would love to see Bench, Morgan, and Perez together, but they are only together in the '70's display (along with Rose).

How is smoltz not first ballot. Out of the 3 i figured him for sure.

And 300 wins IS a big deal. If clemens makes it in first ballot, so should maddux.

If you go back and read what I wrote, I said that Maddux is a lock at first year. Clemens is a lock too. Glavine and Smoltz are the two that aren't.

Personally I think the First Ballot would be more suitable - for which Glavine and Maddux will both be inducted. Just like 500 HRs and 3,000 Hits, 300 wins is an auto qualifier. Smoltz may be inducted, though he may end up being another Bert Blyleven.

Smoltz has 200 wins and 150 saves. No one else in history has that. Hows that not first ballotness?

He could make it in his first year, but I wouldn't say he's a lock. The writers have a high standard, especially the first year.

All of these players were pretty much dominant during their entire career.


I just don't think Smoltz was a dominating pitcher for a majority of his career. Sure he had some good years (and about 2-3 great years as a starters and another 2-3 as a closer), but those aren't "lock" qualities.
