So, our next film, Classic or Crud, Hit or Miss, what say you ALL?
Our next film open for discussion, and ultimately an Overall RATING by you all:
THE BREAKFAST CLUB
Let the discussions flow. Likes, dislikes, classic film or overhyped trash, and DONT FORGET to place an Overall Rating when youre done.
Its easy, just give a Rating from 1 (Jaws 4:The Revenge) to 10 (Jaws), and thats it. Course I'd love to have you all give reasons as to why you feel it deserves this Overall Rating, and more than encourage discussions with us all about them.
So, what say you all?

Calling The Breakfast Club a movie about whiny kids in school detention is like calling Jaws a film about a hungry fish who hits a beach, or Raiders Of The Lost Ark a movie where some guy with a whip looks for an old box. TBC is a true 80s Cinematic Classic (a decade I personally love regarding most things), something which was as well written as it was directed (kudos to John freaking Hughes, one of the most influential directors of the time), not to mention a great cast of semi-unknowns who all shot to Brat Pack status thereafter. A funny, real life, comedy that had as much heart as it did laughs. A film Id bet people today would love now watching it for the first time, as I would watching it for my 10th. Cant say too much negative about this one, its easily one of Hughes’ best films, and one of the best comedies overall of its decade.
The Breakfast Club – 9 / 10

I like this movie a lot, you can oversimplify anything to make it look bad, but at its heart this is an original idea that is sappy but still far more intelligent than people give it credit for.
It is more a coming of age film than a comedy and there is a reason that it still stands as a classic today. I will be the first to admit that the 80's was a sad time for music and movies but this was certainly a bright spot. It may not be Fast Times at Ridgemont High, but it is still a solid teen dramedy.
What amazes me about this film is the number of references or homages I've seen made to it in other films and TV shows. Take the Simpsons "Eat My Shorts" comment to Futurama's "Bender" character. To me, that's the true essence of a quality film - flattery & imitation and all that jazz.
