But with the first issue of 'Brand New Day' (this week's comic book in which Spider-Man returns to single life), our letters very quickly changed to people saying, 'This is fantastic. This is the Spider-Man we remembered. We didn't know what we'd been missing.'
I have a very hard time believing that Marvel is getting more "thank you" mail vs hate mail right now.
There are 542,000 children in foster care. Talk to your local foster and adoptive agency. You could change a life.
Well, MSN also has a poll about this. Apparently it's "big" news....
This is the current result:
Is Spider-Man's breakup a good move?
Yes, it's easier to save the world if he's not tied down at home 33%
No, if a superhero can't make marriage work, who can? 67%

I run HeroClix tournaments at Shuffle and Cut in La Habra, California. The format of each tournament will be posted here.
BND is entirely entertaining.
OMD sucked horse dung, and its a true tragety that BND has to follow that drivel.
But if you like Spider-Man BND is well worth your time.
I have no difficulty what so ever that there are heaps and heaps of Spider-Man fans that are enjoying the 1st 2 issues of the new Amazing Spider-Man.
But I do understand why fans are turned off the idea of even buying it,
I am sympathetic to that.
In the end I just couldn't resist buying a book written by Dan Slott and drawn by Steve McNiven.
They're both great creators and I have absolute faith in their abilities to entertain me.
So far that faith has been well placed.

That was certainly not the tone of the e-mail that I sent to Marvel.
Joe Q can put any spin on it that he wants to for the media but it's the sales that are going to be the real judge. I don't think the people that he's trying to convince on CNN are the ones who are showing up at the shops every wednesday to get the latest titles.
Actually, judging by the untouched stacks at my local shop, no one is currently showing up to get the latest copy of Brand New Day.

Yeah, I suspect you won't see any blowback on BND for a few months, just because lots of people ordered in advance, not knowing what a pile of drek OMD was.
Now that people would be (in theory) dropping Spidey like a hot potato, it should reflect in the preorders and the sales. But this reminds me of when "Supernova Sold out!" before it was released... I can still find it locally here for $5 per booster.
