Okay, can someone tell me whats up with the new series. When is it set, are they just reprinting alot of what was in the 12 issue lim, and what parts of the original tqales are they keeping? I know i have seen some of the stories before. Is it offering anything new?
The selfish infect us all with sad, vulgar, sexual references and a constant barage of innapropriate innuendo. A pity to be subjected to this against our wills, but to allow it into our lives with open arms shames us all
No its not reprints, it takes place after the last series.
And I'm completely weirded out that its a common misconception that this is a series of reprints!
Alan Davis complained that the last run simply didn't get enough promotion and your thread here sorta proves it!
I go over ish #2 in my show btw!
And I thought it was great!
I adore every single thing that Davis does, even his Killraven series!
Edit: I forgot to add that the 1st series wasn't actually a mini, they just called it that when it got canned as a sorta joke.
They did the same with all the "New Universe" titles that got canned as well, but the joke was more obvious when it read "#32 in a 32 issue limited series" on the cover of D.P.7.
A great read btw!
I liked the original series too and thought that Marvel really messed up when the creators were asked to leave the series and they tried to make it like every other Marvel book. It was great how they retconned all the stuff that wasnt by Farmer and Davis in the X men crossover and Rory just said he had a weird dream. No fuss no muss and the last part of the series didnt happen.
I dont know if it wasnt promoted well or just too off kilter for the times. It was a great series, but should have been more like the Inhumans or Excalibur. On its onw and not intergrated into the rest of the Marvel U. It sucummed to the same thing all the Marvel UK titles did. Integration of things that just werent compatible.

Alan Davis is the sole creator of the book, he got upset over the lack of marketing for the book and left it, he didn't get booted.
As well it wasn't ever a Marvel UK title, it just takes place in the UK, but its Marvel universe proper.
The Marvel UK books were books that were produced in the UK primarily for the UK (I think Paul Neary was the head of the marvel UK offices at the time) so they tried to make them distinctly European, and none to "superhero-y".
But if you go back and dig out your issues of Clandestine you'll see that the "Marvel UK" label isn't there its just "Marvel".
I only read I think the 1st 2 issues after Davis left, and it was the worst art that Brian Hitch ever produced.
There was that 2 issue X-Men/Clan-Destine mini and I think it came after the series got canned...
Alan davis is one of the best comic creator on scene right now.
I've been weirded all these years with the lacking of care of the comic readers about his books.
When I first looked at his Xcalibur series as a drawer Whow! this guy is amazing, and the plot is fresh and funny (thanks to Chris Claremont), but when Alan took the plot too the comic-book was even better.
I adore all his works, they all feel like Alan worked hard on them.
Fantastic Four: The End is another great book as is Killraven and JLA: The Nail and Another Nail.
I love how the got Hyperion's cape right on the box art and NOT one the figure.
Idiots!!!
Fantastic Four:the end I think is the only Davis work I've never read.
"drawer"
heh.
("Penciller" or merely "artist" is the term you're looking for)
Davis has had his moments to be sure, and his Excalibur run was one of em.
Frankly I thought Claremonts portion of Excalibur was extremely hit and his.
For instance the storyline "the cross-time caper" was boring as a snail trail, and lasted about 12 issues to long...
It left like that series never ended.
I pretty much despise most everything Claremonts written since the Mark Silvestri X-Men run...
