Okay how amny issue of squadron surpreme where there. I have 1-18 surprume powers and 1-7 squadron surpreme. The max line. So am i jsut missing #8. If so does anyone have one for sale or trade?
The "real" Squadron Supreme mini-series was a 12 issue series that makes the modern stuff look like a poorly written letter to Penthouse.
no it doesn't. though not true to the original in pace to the point of the story, that being those with great power over using it an its corrupting influence. Supreme power was great for the development of a character with great power and his struggle to use it and how an outsider fits into a world that fears him ultimately. squadron supreme series on the other hand needed to move a bit faster to get to the original's scope and truely great story line.
and back to the point of the thread, sorry can't help you I have been wondering the same thing as to the future of this series
The writer of the series was pulled to do other various stories including everybody's favorite "One More Day". In his absence, they did the horrible 4 part mini of Hyperion vs Nighthawk (if you really want to read it, just get issue 4. Every issue repeated what had happened in all previous issues. Like I said, "HORRIBLE") Then they appeared in Ultimate Power, which once again united the team, and may have also been written by the writer of the regular series IIRC. This was a very good series, and definitely worth picking up. It also leads into Ultimatum, which is supposed to completely change the Ultimates universe forever! bah bah BAH!!! It may be interseting, just my opinions.
Just to summarize - never went past issue 7, but I would also like to see it's return.

Do you have the Doctor Spectrum (6 issues), Hyperion (5 issues), Nighthawk (6 issies), Hyperion vs Nighthawk (4 issues), and Supreme Power (9 issues)?
As others have mentioned, the last issue of Squadron Supreme released was #7, which came out in November, 2006. Supreme Power was a decent series. As Valor1 said, it focused on Hyperion and as far as a ‘reinvention’ of the original concept went, it worked quite well and Straczynski developed the character in a different direction than the ‘classic’ Hyperion. However, when the title switched over to Squadron Supreme and they assembled the team, I felt it tried to be too much like the original Gruenwald Squadron – heck, it even seemed as if they were building towards the same ‘take over the world to save it from itself’ plotline.
But I also have to agree with Darius Dax that the original series was the better of the two. Just look how well the plotline and the moral question tackled hold up over the 20-plus years since: the idea of the morality of those in power imposing their moral code on society, even if that imposition is motivated by a desire to do good, versus the issue of how important free will in society is if that free will is used to do destructive things is as salient an issue (if not moreso) today as it was then. In a lot of ways, I think the Gruenwald version is more ‘adult’ or ‘political’ than Straczynski's version simply because back then was a bit against the grain of comics and subtle in its execution, while nowadays too many ‘smart’ writers just get up on their soapbox and beat you over the head with their political allegories. I'd say it was certainly ahead of its time.
Bottom line assessment from me: the original Squadron Supreme was the best, Supreme Power was very good, the Squadron Supreme follow-up (and the miniseries it spawned) were a big disappointment.

I disagree. While I am about to tckle Gruenwald's series for the first time (and therefore cannot comment), The JMS stuff was Excellent and some of the best stuff Marvel has put out in the past 6 years. Defintley better than most of the stuff Marvel has pushed as "great." In fact, I can't think of anything better, at the moment.
The characters are great and written well, the storyline moves at a great pace, and the art rocks.

The series was more about bringing attention to the events taking place in Darfur.
The first series was Supreme Power and was 18 issues long.
Squadron Supreme ended at 7.
JMS no longer has an exclusive contarct with Marvel and in last week's Comic Shop news basically stated there were no plans to continue the series and that Marvel may be considering having another writer take over. But it wasn't urgent. I would love to see it comeback. At the time, there was NO Marvel team book that was better.

I can only think of Annihilation. The original run, not the current mini. It wasn't pushed like the Civil War storyline, which was happening at the same time, roughly. It was considered by many to be a better storyline then CW was, and, in my own opinion, deserved more praise then the other stuff marvel actually does push as "great".
That said, I did like the Squad's books and am not putting those down... just saying, there was one other good book out there, and that's Annihilation.
John Barber and Howard Chaykin will be the new team on Squadron Supreme - continuing the series a year or so after the events of # 7 and the Ultimate Power mini.
I have a copy of the full article where they are interviewed (but not the link).
I don't know if it is an issue posting articles from other sites so if the mods have issues with it please delete the post that follows.
The last time Marvel’s Squadron Supreme was seen was late last year, at the end of the Ultimate Power miniseries, and their world was…a mess, ravaged not only by a weapon designed by the Ultimate Universe’s Reed Richards, but also by the battle between the Ultimates, the (J. Michael Straczynski) Squadron Supreme and the original (Mark Gruenwald) Squadron Supreme.
Prior to that, volume 2 of the Squadron Supreme series had ended on a cliffhanger that was never resolved (although something terrible and unexpected happened afterwards).
Questions, it would appear, abound, such as: what happened after the cliffhanger? What’s the Supreme world like post Ultimate Power? Are those who stayed behind on the Supreme world still there? Will JMS be coming back to tell more Squadron Supreme stories?
Well, Squadron Supreme is coming back later this year as an ongoing series, written by Howard Chaykin, illustrated by Marco Turini, and edited by John Barber (a quick aside, the new series will not be under the MAX imprint as the original Supreme Power series was).
We’ll chat with Chaykin in a minute, but first, some broader answers from Barber.
As for why the series is retuning now?
“When I took over editing Squadron Supreme, Joe Quesada made the point that the only reason to do this book is because it’s good,” Barber said. “So there was no reason to rush out a book if it wasn’t right.
“And when I took the editorial reigns, it was a weird situation to come into. J. Michael Straczynski and Gary Frank had both left—separately and with no animosity. But it still wasn't the easiest editorial position to be in. So it took a little while--a little longer than we'd have liked, honestly, to get everything in place. But now that we're here--with Howard Chaykin and Marco Turini in place--I think we're going to be going to some new, really exciting places.”
Quesada was the one who suggested Chaykin, Barber said, which was fine with him – Barber had taken over editing Wolverine while Chaykin was drawing it, so the two already had a working relationship. “Howard’s got a very unique voice in comics writing. His writing over the course of his career has always had a big touch of the political,” Barber said. “Everybody remembers American Flagg! of course, but his throughout the entire Chaykin oeuvre you can see him balancing politics and sex. And there’s Squadron Supreme for you, right?
“He’s not going to play it safe; he’s not going to deliver a bland script. Some people will love this and want to see where we’re going—which won’t disappoint—and some will probably hate it.”
The series will be restarting with a new issue #1. As Barber explained, it wouldn’t quite make sense otherwise, given the 18 or so months since volume 2 issue #7. “Plus we had the story from Ultimate Power, which was always meant to be taking place after that battle, so it wasn’t something we could do anyway. So this is something of a fresh pick-up, but believe me when I say that we won’t be ignoring anything. It’s a great jumping-on point, but long-time readers: stick around, because the pay-off is going to be massive.”
Fair enough for a start?
Now, on to a chat with Chaykin.
The rest of the interview specifically mentions the site involved....
I think in retrospect I'll go hunt for the link just to be safe...
Yes I have all the other one-shots. So there are 9 surpreme power. So that means I"m missing 2 do you have 8 & 9?
Ack, sorry. I meant Ultimate Power, the Ultimate U/Supremverse crossover. My mistake. BTW, if your curious, Marvel did solicit issues 8 and 9 of Squadron Supreme.
Can't direct link the cover art from Marvel, so click on the link to see it.

The fallout from the Squadron Supreme’s peacekeeping efforts in the Middle East continues to have massive – and unforeseen – repercussions on the group. Will the world’s most dangerous team crumble from the inside?
I wonder, when SS ever gets relaunched again, if they'll use these two issues, say in an annual or something. Continuality wise, it'd have to be prior to Ultimate Power. I have a feeling though, probaly not.
