I walked past the Marvel Superheroes arcade game at work here and laughed at Shuma Gorath's inclusion in the roster. It's always hilarious to see what characters were EVERYWHERE and have since faded into obscurity.

So I got to thinking: If heroclix were made in the 'prime' of your comic book experience, what would be different?

My time period was the 90s, so I got a WHOLE lot of fun ideas...

-Psylocke would have been in every third set, and Gambit in every other.
-Gambit/Rogue duo fig would have introduced the Duo mechanic.
-Foil boosters!
-BIGGER GUNS! For everyone!
-Damage-like proportions for all characters. (I'm modding a Cable using that body, and it's just SO 90s!)
-Shuma-Gorath woulda been made by now.
-3 Mr. Sinisters and 1 Magneto (not the other way around).
-X-man woulda been the big seller of Mutant Mayhem.
-Omega Red after 5 years?! I think not! Set number ONE!

I'll probably think of more...

Well, in fairness, Shuma-Gorath was obscure even back when he was chosen to be part of the video game.

Hulk would be Grey
Thing would be spiky
There would be an alternate Minion of Doom TA for the Frightful Four
There would be an alternate X-men TA for X-factor
We would have the Alliance of Evil and the Horsemen of Apocolpyse
An entire set based on the New Mutants/Hellions rivalry
An entire set based on the Masters of Evil IV taking over avengers mansion.

Ha! True, but one game to another usually carries SOME weight.

In my generation? The Hawkman figures would be Katar Hol (with maybe an Earth-2 Carter Hall made somewhere in there, probably with his yellow hawk-cowl, or the full screeching hawk face helmet), and we wouldn't have waited for five years to get a Barry Allen Flash.

We would have had ROM, Micronauts, and Shogun Warriors by now.

Chase figs would have been KISS clix.

Boosters would have been $2 a box.

You could afford to drive the 75 miles to find a venue to play at.

You're right, Shuma Gorath is that green, tentacled, one-eyed being. An enemy for Dr. Strange, from time to time.

Hmm..yeah, it was made in my generation...I started reading Marvel comics proper at the issue where Sabretooth breaks out of the mansion, after "killing" Psylocke. Everyone had their "cartoon" costumes on...blah blah.

But then I read the UK editions, so that was like late 90's rather than mid-90's. (release dates differ for the "Collector's Editions" over here)

I still want a killer Jean Grey in her blue shoulder-pads costume!
