I don't think you're supposed to mourn the loss of a comic book like this.

When our story opens, the Question is investigating an impossible locked-room murder mystery involving a midget and a 6'6"-tall call girl into heavy bondage. Don't worry, I'll explain later. It's all vitally relevant.

I was reading Y monthly. I liked it but got so bored with it (probably around issue 30 or so) that I stopped picking it up. What got to me is that it seemed to repeat the same theme/story from arc to arc. I still think it is a good story (at least as far as I read) and is definately on my list of good recommendations and I may one day return to it.
I was really into this series when I first started reading it through the trades, and I still very much enjoyed it right to the end. However, after reading a few other titles (Monster and Nana if you care to know) this series got bumped from a ten to a nine. The ending in particular wasn't quite as satisfying as I would have liked. But even so, it's still a great series and well worth reading.
I really hated that they didn't explain Y all the men died. When they offered the explanation that after the first clone was delivered men weren't needed I didn't really buy it. It didn't fit with the first issue clues we were given. That mystery was the main reason I followed the series.

BKV said the answer WAS given....SOMEWHERE. so hopefully one day he shows us where...I doubt the 'given' answer is correct.
However, I have learned to like things without knowing. As a kid, I HAD to know what Snake Eyes' face looked like...same as Cobra Commander and the rest....nowadays, I don't care. I can enjoy them as they are. Same as Y. It's amazing whether I ever know or don't.
