Now that both series have had a chance to get going, I'm wondering what people are thinking and which people are preferring. Personally, I'm enjoying Secret Invasion a lot more. The story seems a lot more cohesive. Maybe it's just because I'm mainly reading the series themselves and not a lot of the tie-in titles, but Final Crisis just hasn't been doing it for me. Too much going on with nothing getting enough of a spotlight. It's all little fragmented bits that are really hard to follow.
Just thought I'd get some discussion going on this.
Neither one is doing it for me at the moment. I liked the idea of Secret Invasion, I just lost interest in it. Some of the tie-in are cool though. Same goes for Final Crisis, some of the tie-ins are fun.
I'd love to get in on this debate, but, while I am reading Final Crisis, I'm only reading the Hercules, Initiative, and Black Panther crossovers with Secret Invasion, not the main series itself. I feel like Final Crisis is probably better, but I can't say for certain.
...now, if we can just get Professor Pyg confirmed.
I haven't read the third issue of Final Crisis, but the series has done very little to capture me as a reader. It isn't horribly executed or anything, I just can't get follow along the story without feeling like I have to study up on who all these characters are.
Secret Invasion has been pretty fun, although the Skrull invasion seems to be falling apart at a pathetic pace. It's a big dumb summer event, and for what it is, it's entertaining.
I have been following both series closely and so far I think SI is far superior to Final Crisis. I feel like Final Crisis has just opened a lot of loose ends and not answering quick enough. I also feel they have a lot of stuff that is in my opinion, not necessary. I don't think we needed to see the Flash and family thinking of the return of the old flash and crying about it. That would have fited better maybe for a tie in or something.
Secret Invasion even though it is also not going at a very fast pace, I feel like they have done alot so far as far as delivering what was promised. I expected Fury to come back kicking ###...and I got it. I expected the Skrulls to raise hell all over the world..and I got it. Final Crisis so far has not delivered much of what I expected and that Internet part on the third issue..good god.
Final Crisis is still on issue 3 tho, so maybe it will change.
oh and let me add that sometimes it gets annoying with how many tie-ins marvel has but they are usually worth it. The Avenger books,Black Panther and Captain Britain have provided really kick ### stories that have really showed you how things got there. the build up for this has just been going on for a while and it seems like even though the fighting takes place on the main series, the build up can be found within the pages of the new and mighty avengers. I really recommend for those to be picked up if you want to find out how elektra, pym and what not got replaced.
FC is interesting in the way that I have no real idea where they're going with it. Not sure if I'll give a #### when it does get there, but the mystery is sort of tantalizing, if only in a car crash sort of way.
SI is fun in the "Hur hur punch" brainless entertainement sort of way. I'm just afraid that we'll see that most of the series was a waste.
I'm also reading both and find that each one appeals to a different aspect of what I like.
SI has that quick, let's beat everyone and everything up aspect covered. Sure, there have been some disappointments(everyone from the ship was a Skrull), but I can live with them. Plus, the tie-ins that I've been reading have been great.
FC is largely intellectual and has made me actually think about the story in general, which is nice, but it's had a lot of moments that weren't right at all. First and foremost, the Alpha Lanterns shouldn't have shown up at all. They're the Internal Affairs of the Green Lantern Corps, not a special operations unit. The time travelling bullet still makes my brain hurt, and the return of Barry Allen is still rubbing me the wrong way. I find myself honestly enjoying Rogue's Revenge more than FC itself, though(maybe because I'm a big fan of the Rogues, Cold in prarticular...).
I guess in the end, I'm liking SI more, but I still haven't given up on FC(at least not completely).

Secret Invasion does have the feel of a summer popcorn movie, but yes I am enjoying it. I suppose one could point out that Final Crisis is only on its third issue, so it's still gearing up, but it really hasn't done enough to grab me.
I was so disgusted with Final Crisis I started a "DC Comics Suck" thread. I'm really disappointed in Final Crisis. It's all over the place with the characters not tying anything together. Am not bothered by the fact that Barry is back...but the story line seems stupid on how they are doing it.
SI is rocking right now, and I'm glad I got the SI figures to recreate the battles.
