So the solicitations for November is now up. Did anyone see the SI #8 cover? It has Cap, Thor, and no Iron Man? Then Mighty Avengers #20 is listing an aftermath soooo shocking it'll shake the team up... Plus, it looks like Iron Man: Director of SHIELD is not being published for November [although Invincible Iron Man is...but Invincible Iron Man doesn't seem to follow SI]. Instead, Iron Man is being replaced with War Machine [similar to Hulk and Hercules].
Based on the solicitations, what do you think the outcome of Secret Invasion is? Is Tony donna bite the dust like Steve in the last big Marvel event?
I run HeroClix tournaments at Shuffle and Cut in La Habra, California. The format of each tournament will be posted here.
i don't think tony will "die" but he could be on the way out of the avengers perhaps to concentrate more on his duties at shield and it would be fitting if he asked cap america (bucky) to take his place on the team perhaps as leader as i believe ms. marvel is on her way out of the team as well and thor will take her place though i'm not sure how 2 gods will fit on the same team (thor and ares) guess we will have to wait and see.
Iron Man becomes a loner because Tony Stark gives the armor to someone else. They decide that the Superhuman Registration Act was a bad idea and abolish it. Asgard is removed from OK and put back where it belongs and Spider-Man is found as a captive of the Skrulls. The OMD Spider-Man was actually a Skrull so the pact that he made wil Mephisto is null and void, though MJ's secret pact still stands. To cover his identity, in one final, noble act as Iron Man, Tony creates a fool proof cover story so that everyone who learned that Peter Parker was Spider-Man will think it was all a ruse. to bring Spider-Man's enemies out in the open. The cover story is that Tony created the plan and so he is prosecuted in connection with the death of Aunt May (since the pact is null and void, she is now dead) as well as Steve Rogers. All of the major events of the last few years are rendered null and void (this is, after all, Marvel).
Super-Skrull overuse of powers leads to a massive energy surge, threatening the entire planet. Skrulls and superhumans stop fighting to try and reverse the course of events.
The Scarlet Witch gets a number of heroes together and rewrites reality to how it was before Secret Invasion started. In the end, things are slightly different, allowing for cheap retcons and lazy writing.
But Wolverine remembers everything.
Because he's Wolverine.

When our story opens, the Question is investigating an impossible locked-room murder mystery involving a midget and a 6'6"-tall call girl into heavy bondage. Don't worry, I'll explain later. It's all vitally relevant.

There's no Iron Man: Director of SHIELD because it becomes Warmachine: Weapon of SHIELD.

My prediction is that Tony will get in a lightsaber duel with Obi-Wan in a volcano. Of course, Tony lets his pride cloud his judgement and gives up the high ground. Obi-Wan slices him to bits, yet he is left alive because the lightsaber cauterizes the wounds. Later, the Emperor finds Tony trying to crawl, takes him to his ship and rebuilds him as the ultimate Sith warrior. When Tony finds out what has been done to him and realizes that he'd killed Pepper Potts he rips himself from his restraints, falls to his knees and yells "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!".

"Come on Hulk! Where's the old boasting? The battle cries? Why aren't you bellowing about how you're 'the strongest one there is'? Could it be because... you know it's not true?"
"No. Because it's just too obvious."

If anything, the Superhero Registration Act is now more important than ever. With Mr. Fantastic's Skrull-light, they can screen incoming heroes for Skrulliness before they get licensed.
I see Iron Man resigning his position due to Nick Fury, seeing him as better for the job. War Machine becomes Nick's #2 man. Meanwhile, Iron Man reduces his role to consultant.
The real question is, what lasting imprint will the Skrulls have? Obviously they won't be running the Earth, because a Skrull event can't lead into a new constant presence of Skrulls. But perhaps it puts heroes on the out with the common man?
I'm much more interested in the Inhumans part of the story, leading into War of Kings. The Inhumans royal family finally divided on something? I'd love nothing more than to see the Inhumans become an increased presence in the world of Marvel.
The ending of SI will feature the death of all the top-tier heroes. And why not? They already killed Cap and replaced him with cosmic-cube created Bucky. Now, all the others must die.
Oh, and are we sure that's Thor? I'm thinking it was Clor, who was supposed to be revived soon.
Iron Man is discredited and withdraws from SHIELD and Avengers due to embarassment from being used like a Kleenex by the Skrulls. War Machine takes place on the Mighty Avengers.
Mighty Avengers continue with minor changes to roster.
New Avengers add the Winter Soldier Cap and Thor their roster adding some much needed punch to the team but lose Ronin/Hawkeye who due to his recent outcry against the Skrulls accidentally murders the returning Spiderwoman who he thinks is a skrull but is not.
Nick Fury, vindicated returns to head SHIELD, but must keep Maria Hill as second in command. Sparks erupt because Fury wants Dugan as his second.
Jarvis returns after being rescued to serve biscuits with grape jelly.
The Baxter Building is returned to it's proper location and Lyja once again dies to save the Fantastic Four. In the ensuing drama the powers of Valeria Richards are revealed.
Over the entire country the Initiative continues, but as the minor leagues to the heroes. Heroes now consigned to the major teams are independant and operate much as they did previous to Civil War. The Initiative acts as a boot camp and recuitment pool for the larger authorized teams.
Pepper Potts opens the door to the shower and looks at Tony Stark. Stark tells Pepper about this dream he had where almost all mutants lost their powers, the Hulk came back to planet earth in a rampage, that there was a Superhuman Registration Act which he championed like an arse, that he took over the command of SHIELD, and that there was a Skrull invasion where several superheroes were really Skrulls. Pepper replies "pffft... you better get yourself to AA!" (Marvel comics is now back to the events prior to Avengers Disassembled). After Tony leaves to call Hawkeye, Pepper turns into a Skrull!

Did they ever reveal 'how' the Skrulls fooled everyone? I know Mr Fantastic has a new 'reveal ray', but what it a deus ex type of plot device, or did they reveal the trickery used?

Well in Fantastic Four THE EARTH IS DYING so when it dies the Skrulls will be left with an uninhabitable wasteland or when the Earth dies it could implode taking Skrulls, heroes and many villains with it.
