X-Force, I think, is one of the better relaunchs I've seen in a while. Marvel and DC are always going to put their popular characters in multi. books a month, and they are always better when theres a reason for it. Theres a reason for the new X-Force to exist, and I'm digging the book.
However, I would like to see a couple roster changes.
Who to Keep:
Wolverine - Hes a natural for the book. Aside from being the best there is at what he does, hes a leader and the perfect person to lead that team. While I liked hi mbeing in the Avengers, 3 teams I think is too much, get him off the Avengers and head lining X-books.
Warpath - The muscle of the group, and one of the few links to the orginal X-Force.
Wolfsbane - I never thought she was a good character, so putting on a team where all she has to do is kill people is perfect. Good to have a 2nd tracker on the team.
Who to lose:
X-23 - She is a terrible character. She ranks up there with Nightwing in terms of bad characters. Wolverine is popular, we know, we get it - DO NOT CREATE A CLONE JUST TO GET SOME MORE EXPOSER. Just one of the horrible moves that a comic company can make. Kill her off, the sooner the better. Have Sentry throw her into the sun.
Who to add:
Archangel - The metal wings are back, making him a killer wouldnt be a hard move at this point. Gives the team a flier and someone who doesn't have to get close to attack, gives the team another dimension.
Gambit - Another character who doesn't hav ea problem with killing. He doesn't want to come back and fully rejoin the X-men, but he still wants to be a part of them, so he joins the black-ops team, even have Wolverine keep it a secret from Cyclops. Hes another range guy, so again give sthem a bit of a different look. He would also be their spy/thief guy.
Wolverine
Warpath
Wolfsbane
Archangel
Gambit
I think that team works very well, I think 5 is the perfect number for the taem, giving them a flyer and couple range attackers gives them more options and makes them more interesting. Thats the X-Force I want to read.
Theres only one Return, and it ain't of the King, its of the Jedi.
This version of X-Force seems to be about strike first, stealth, and tracking abilities. Also, they all seem to have an animalistic side. That raw, primal tendency. Each has a beserker mode, if I recall.
I don't see Gambit or Arch/Angel fitting that bill. I just can't.

Good ol HCRealms. Where dials are "garbage" if it's not their favorite character and everything is overcosted.
i can see archangel now that he has his metallic wings back, to be seen as a "berserker" type again. not so much Gambit. i would personally love to see shatterstar join them, but would prefer his more warrior attitude first show in New mutants, than see him revert to killer type
i gotta admit "claw force" turned out to be much better than i anticipated.
as for archangel, i think i read somewhere (probably on newsarama) that it might be temporary...still i would dig it if it stayed for a while and he joined.
one of my very first mods was archangel with the metal wings, ive always been a fan
Dude you must be smoking something if you think Nightwing is a bad character . As for the team I don't see Archangel staying long especially considering he has been shown in Xmen 500 as being back to normal....And he did say it had been a rough month in that book . I think this is just a temporary thing. I look forward to Domino returning...But I would love to see Psylocke on this team...Or even bring back that kid from New Xmen Wither the mutant with the death touch.
Thats the part of the reason to put Gambit on the team - hes not excatly the same as all the other members, but hes close enough that he could work with them. domino works too.
And Nightwing is just a bad clone of Batman.
Theres only one Return, and it ain't of the King, its of the Jedi.
Sentry could be said to be a bad clone of Superman...
Anyway, I don't think Angel will stay, since I think this change is temporary. I do believe that Gambit would be a great fit, though he's doing some wackiness over in Xavier's "solo" book (X-Men Legacy, fwiw, is awesome).

Except the characters of Superman and Sentry are completely different, just the powers are basically the same (same can be said for probably 20-30% of the comic characters out there). But Nightwing and Batman........just as similiar as Wolverine and X-23.
I think (and hope) Archangle does stay. No one has really done anything interesting with him since he got his wings back. A guy with wings just isn't all that interesting or useful in a superhero book. A guy with metal, razor sharp wings that shoot small blades.....on a team full of killers.....that can be interesting.
And I know Gambit is with Xaiver rght now - but get him out of there. He'd be better with X-Force.

The book is good, but Wolfsbane shouldn't be there. This is the book where she has submitted to her killer urges and its not because she wants to really. Bottom line: she'd be the weak-link and would not be able to carry out the missions.
Gambit is off Xavier's book right now....so joining this team (There will be more? I thought it was like a one shot type deal?) would be good for him with that marauder experience and all.
I agree with taking X-23 out of the team. Unlike you sluggo, I like the character and she was actually developing into her own in the New X-men books. After the hellion fiasco, I'm sure she decided that this was the way to go. Put her back with Mercury and her other comrades.
I'm gonna add someone that may surprise you: Martinique Jason.
She isn't as evil as her sister, she has history with gambit and wolverine and shes a mercenary. Not to mention we have to have the "hot" girl on a team and she would be it. Her powers would work very good for surprise tactics.
so:
Wolverine
Warpath
Gambit
Archangel
Martinique Jason
Still five characters, but may need a sixth to pair off into groups or something. Hell, Sage would be a good candidate as well if it weren't for claremonts total destruction of the character.

See when he lost his wings the first time they had some kind of interview book where they said he'd get something......yet NOTHING came of it. I like him as a character that can do something. Flying around can only get you so far and that (and his godlike healing ability) was all he had going for him. They tried to give him Magik's sword, but even that didn't work out. The metal wings were made for Angel. Maybe they should make the character transform into the archangel at will or something. He gains toxic blood in this form that burns through anything and has very limited control over his "berserker" self. It would make him a bit more interesting if anything.
Except the characters of Superman and Sentry are completely different, just the powers are basically the same (same can be said for probably 20-30% of the comic characters out there). But Nightwing and Batman........just as similiar as Wolverine and X-23.
Um, no. Batman is the guy everyone fears. They listen to him because of how good he is but mostly because he scares the #### out of them. Nightwing on the other hand, everone listens to him because they trust him, they know he's been trained by the best and that he actually cares.
They dont fear him because of how scary he is. They fear him because of how good he is as a Hero and team leader. He's the only one that was trusted to lead the JLA when Supes, Bats, Wonder Woman and the rest of orginal JLA disappeared. Let's put it this way if he was such a bad character, why has his solo book lasted as long as it has with so many different teams behind it?
Now, personally, I'd love to Domino and Gambit on X-force. Domino, like Thunderbird would tie into the original crew and Gambit is a better tracker then he's given credit. Go back and read his first early appearances. He got the drop on Wolverine once or twice, plus he's the one who lead the Maruaders to the Morlocks. I also think it would be nice if they could drop Cable in for a one time appearance. Be interesting to see him and Wolverine go at it again and to see his reaction to Domino being there.
I have to agree that Gambit would be an awesome fit. He would be a change of pace for the team. I saw in the November Solicits that Domino was going to join the team, but I still think Gambit would have been a better fit.
The book is so dark that you need that character that has always had a dark past and throwing him in would add a cool dimension.
