Kansas standouts and NCAA Championship game heroes, Darrell Arthur and Mario Chalmers, were caught in a hotel room with weed and women last night. Personally, I think they're dumbasses...however, weed seems to be commonplace in the NBA.
Do you care if players smoke weed? This seems to have become the new NBA cliche, right up there with the 7-tattoo minimum...
For the record, I do care because it's illegal and they aren't above the law. It's already a crime that they make what they do to play basketball for a living...

A crime to make as much money as they do? Do you realize how much we put into the sports with our purchases? Do you realize how much the owners make? Do you realize how much money the local communities make through the advancement of the economic system due to the teams being there? Or through charity? I say the true crime is they dont make as much as they should given the amount of money made by a team in a year.
Who said they thought they were above the law? When you fail to yield at a yellow are you above the law? I wont debate whether weed should be legal or not (I dont smoke, but know people that did), but I will say that its not as bad as alcohol or cough syrup. Weed isnt cliche in the NBA. Its cliche in the entire world. People all over smoke it, from all walks of life. It isnt something new.
You have this habit of lumping negative stereotypes/opinions on sports personalities and not providing any background or proof of these claims. You have the right to express your opinion, but feel free to do so with out cursing, and without attacking a group of people without cause

Look, they have an opportunity to make a ton of money playing a game. Other people have to work for a living and are part of a system that make companies all over the world just as much, if not more money than these players do for their franchises. Not to mention that nobody is coming out to see Darrell Arthur and Mario Chalmers this season. They are coming out to see Lebron and Kobe and D-Wade and Chris Paul...those are the guys who put butts in the seats and money in the owners' coffers. I know I stepped on your toes by calling out Lebron in another thread, but to say I stereotype people is not accurate. I call it like I see it and these two are stupid.

thats a quote from you.. stereotyping.. and then you had the thread about sports stars being selfish right?
Apparently people are coming to see them and buying there merchandise.. or maybe its because they can contribute to a team. They earn their money.

Hey, if you go on youtube and search for chris bosh, you'll find this one where he records himself in Beijing, wearing sunglasses, singing a song. I bet you, he was smoking something in there.

Cliche is not a stereotype. Here's the definition:
A cliché (from French, pronounced [klɪ'ʃe]) is a phrase, expression, or idea that has been overused to the point of losing its intended force or novelty, especially when at some time it was considered distinctively forceful or novel. The term is most likely to be used in a negative context.
The selfish thing was about Brett Favre and Brett Favre only.

K I was wrong about the selfish thing.. that was Jarimy123... I apologize for that I got him mixed with you by the same group your in.
This is a quote from you from that thread though on football players making their money
I think most of them deserve what they get. They put their lives on the line out there on the field and generate a whole lot more money than they make for the owners of the team. Their pension/retirement sucks ###, so why shouldn't they get a cut. Now, there are some that are greedy and there are some that don't play up to their contract, but signing athletes to contracts is no different than buying stocks...sometimes they go bust and sometimes they pay out huge dividends. Those NFL owners laugh all the way to the bank...
Do NBA player not deserve the same rights?
I know the definition of a cliche, but the way you were using it made it look like you were insinuating that all players in the NBA have tats or smoke weed. Saying it was the CLICHE makes it look like everyone is doing it and its lost its meaning by that definition so I naturally thought you meant that everyone is doing it. I think you are stereostyping the players of the nba to be all tattooed up and smoking weed all the time.
Prove that

Honestly I'm of the belief that they shouldn't be paid that much to play a game to being with....It's a sad affair in our country when we care more about our sports heros than the real heroes of this world mainly teachers, firemen and police. I've always been a firm believer that teachers should be one of the highest paid professions in this country not people who are paid to play a game.

but why shouldnt they if the teams are making that much? Its the teachers, firefighters and policemen going to the games and buying the jersey. If we limit how much ball players make we should also set the prices on every other job. Then we get into another problem.. do cops make as much as firefighters or teachers as much as doctors? Whats more important? This is a whole other discussion. As it stands we live in a captalist society and the price is set buy how much we spend on these "games". When and where would we draw the line on what is important? I dont think we should take money out of their pocket to pay teachers and the like, I think we should raise their wages by more money from the government. Either through a rearrangement of what we spend or by an increase in taxes. To take money out of one profession, that is supported by the public in the first place, to pay another seems wrong to me.

You really just missed the point altogether...But since you like starting fights on here so much..I'll explain..I didn't say we take there salary...I said they don't deserve the money they get for playing a sport..And everyone buys there stuff not just the police, teachers and firemen..I take it you don't have kids so I know the whole teacher thing is probably beneath your comprehension. In today's society alot of teachers could careless if a kid show up for school or not. Most of them feel like they are babysitters. Most teachers make a salary of 23 to 25,000 a yr. Most police and firefighters don't even make 20,000 a year...And they have to risk life or limb to protect or serve....And I do believe the goverment should step in....Also instead of taxing us to death they should be taxing all the rich people more. But this is another problem all together.
Well heres the news... you are the one starting a fight... did I attack you personally? Nope sure didnt. So stop making accusations. I responded to your comments and you questioned my intelligence.
1. Im a Secondary Education Major with a specialty in Social Sciences so feel free to leave out all your comments on teachers mainly because your wrong. I live in West Virginia, the beginning teacher here starts at 28000... and we are 47th in the nation in starting salary. There goes your whole guess of 23,000-25000, but thanks for playing.
2. My wife and father-in-law are both firefighters, heck my dad is a chief. The volunteers dont make money doing it, but I can guarantee the firefighters make more then 20,000 a year. So your opinion there doesnt matter much. I have first hand expierence. Heck the starting wages for Firefighters here are well over 28,000 and again we are some of the lowest in the nation.
And finally the main part
3. I didnt miss your point. You feel ball players shouldnt make as much money as they do. I argued that they SHOULD make as much as they do because we buy there stuff, we go to the games. They have every right to earn as much as we are willing to give them. Them making that money has nothing to do with teachers, firefighters, policemen or Santa Clause and his reindeer.Thats how a capitalist society works. You make as much as someone is willing to pay you. If you feel that is wrong then I am sorry.
Try debating without attacking next time too.
