I was just wondering what people think the competitive archtypes are going to be. At my shop, there is a lot of mage, hunter, and rogue, with paladin and warrior gaining popularity. All of these decks seem competitive (atleast amoungst eachother), but I was wondering what other people are coming up against, whats popular, and what people are speculating to take the big tournaments at GenCon SoCal this next weekend(decklists welcome!)
Mage, Hunter, Priest. In that order. But in all fairness, I can see every Hero win.
With this game, every deck is competitive. The fine-tuned ones will stand out. At this time, there are only 2 combos that I consider to be "broken". One of them has an obvious counter. And the other one... isn't so obvious.
But even if people do figure out that combo, I doubt it'll see play. Too risky, especially for a first tournament/new game.
I think that the best thing right now is to try and build a lot of the decks, as many as you can, that you might see play against, or build the other ones that are not around you or any of your friends are playing, and try and build those, and understand how they work.

Err, you're not going to get decklists. People are hoarding their techniques to better dominate the field for GenCon or the first few months. Sorry. ^_^;;;
Actually, you're probably not going to get any kind of a gauntlet yet, either, even after GenCon. The game is far too young and everyone's trying out random stuff right now. Also, there is, as of yet, no clearly-defined "major" events by which a overall metagame might be defined. You only get a metagame when people start learning and copying ideas that work, so until there's a national-level event, or a series of such, it's just going to be local small communities revolving around local stores and websites. It'll probably be more "Your meta" than "The meta" for awhile.
Ask me why Tauren babes are always smiling...

I've seen an assload of Shadow Priests floating around.
They're good, but overrated in the sense that you need a perfect build to unleash the full potential. Most people can't build decks for #### in this game honestly. (No offense to anyone, but there a LOT of people from the mmo with no tcg experience playing.)
I really think that the Horde Druid is a strong character, and I think that is going to get some play. Along with the Alliance Hunter. Those are two that I think are really strong right now.

I find the horde hunter stronger then the alliance one. Not from his own ability mind you, but from a mix of horde allies and quest available.
Either way.
Hunters, Druid, Palladin seems to be the current run of things. Warlock and Mage right behind that.
We'll see how it shakes out after a few more weeks of tourneys.

Yeah, I've been building every deck I can come up with, and if I put enough work into them, they end up being competitive in the metagame, but my local metagame is pretty hard to judge due to the limited supply of cards (very few optimal decks). Has there not been any e-league tournaments or anything of that sort yet for this game? I know that magic-league type tournaments aren't the best ways to gage whats "top tier" but atleast its something.
My best indicator for whats popular is eBay prices. Leeroy's and Frost Nova's seem to be pretty in demand cards.
For those who care, I'd like to post the t4 decklists for our weekly WoW constructed tournaments just to see some feedback on the lists, since none of our local players are going to make the trip, I don't think anyone will mind.
Personally I think Alliance Priest right is the hardest to play competiviely. You have work out alot of kis in your deck and playstyle. Its every micromanagement time of Deck Can waste anything.
I don't need my opponent searching for more cards then he is drawing, cause the game will QUICKLY degenerate from it. MARK MY WORDS, feel free to quote me even. Cause if a many search cards are added to this game, we will be whining about it in just over a year.
Another thing is that UDE has alot of different formats like lazy peon, 2 headed ogre, the triple threat which would mean there would be different decks for each format

The format that I think it the most interesting is the Arena Format. That really intrigues me.

When you're testing you need to be able to deal with four decktypes.
1) Warrior/Paladin lots-o-armor stall.
2) A major ally swarm.
3) Dots, direct damage, and protectors/healing
4) Decks with a lot of mass removal.
Decks built for competitive play has to be able to deal with at least two of those before, and all four of them after sidedecking. That's just my opinion, and there's minor decktypes like hand control or stuff with SENTRY GWYNN combos. But those are usually mixed in with the other forms.
So far here, Horde Warlock CardAdvantage/Controlly type deck seems to be very popular.
Id say in order of what ive seen people playing from most to least
1) Radak Control, Some version of Protectors/Infernal Beatdown stall decks focused on trying to abuse Mias and the discard warlock skills to get you locked down and then win with Infernal.
2) Rogues, usually solo, but ive seen quite a few people with the deck assembled.
2) Hunters, this is a toss up with rogues as far as both have lots playing, ive seen both the "aggro" version as well as a more combo style with rapid fire trying to "go off" in one turn.
3) Ta'zo Fire mage aggro
4) Equipment Warrior decks, usually without allies.
5) Warrior deck battle shout rush. Usually Gorebelly for Mortal Strike/heroic Strike/Rak Skyfury synergy, but also with ferocious allies and a curve.
6) Shadow Priest/Holy Priest discard style decks, mostly shadow, but ive seen people try to run the same deck with Boris and go more of a delay tactic.
7) Moonshadow tempo style midrange deck, with innervate for re-loading on threats.
8) Frost Mage control, Would probably be more popular if it wasnt running extremely in-demand cards. (Frost Nova, Counterspell, Leeroy, Jaina etc)
8) Shaman controlly thing, usually with allies, ive seen about as many of these as I have the frost mage deck, normally it seems to do fairly well.
