If you asked me yesterday about tomorrow's plans, I never would have guessed packing my desk would register among them.
You've read the press release by now, and my NDA and Severance Agreement prohibit me from speaking about the subject as it pertains to disparagement or confidentiality, but I'd just like to say a few things.
1) HeroClix fans are amazing. It's been a great pleasure to work for you, the fan. The cocktail of gaming and comics is so intoxicatingly strong that it's sometimes overwhelming to believe that you get to "drink" both. Seeing the joy that the game brought fans, retailers, and the world has been one of my career highlights. I want to continue to make the game we love.
2) The mix of people that we have at WizKids is fantastic. I selfishly would like to throw out some high praise for the company. We had established a solid foundation of art, marketing, production, R&D and Business functions. Whoever is able to scoop up some of these free agents is getting a steal.
3) I'm sad that I didn't get to wrap my Ten Tenets blogs. The response that I've received for them has been overwhelming. I plan to continue blogging shortly, but due to my NDA, it may be on a variety of subjects.
Who knows, maybe I'll finish that blog one of these days...
4) The licensors for our game are incredible. Jesse, Jamie, Joann, Kevin, and Vienna all rock. Thanks for putting up with my agitation and constant question of "Could we...?"
5) HeroClix was and is poised for success. Where we were going with HeroClix was and is amazing. 2008 was a strong year and we're mostly done with our preparations for 2009. We were very public and earnest with the success of Crisis, Secret Invasion, and Arkham.
I would love to be able to continue to take our dreams to market. A small group of dedicated employees and I are looking to secure funding to purchase the rights to HeroClix, and keep producing the game. If you know of any venture capitalists that like rock solid business plans that show a five-year growth strategy, pm me. If you like the game and the direction that we were going, please show your support for this movement.
I believe that the fans could "own" HeroClix, and without corporate fetters, make the game truly incredible.
To show your support, in true Obama-esque fashion, please respond to this thread with "Yes, We Can Save HeroClix!"
Don't worry, if all else fails, we'll use my male modeling income to buy the brand! .
I'll give you guys updates as time goes on, and try to make sure that if I hear anything exciting, to keep you posted.
I hope that you are able to buy the franchise. I wish I knew what the liklihood was of your success on this...or what it would take. Is Topps even INTERESTED in selling...or do they wish to let it die and disappear?
If I had enough venture capital...I would send it your way.
