So, we have a 2000 point tournament coming up. I figured I'd just play a fun Sinestro Corps team, maybe use the SCAM...
And then I found out someone (who is known for cheesing out lately) is probably bringing in Starro (only restriction is no 3x6 Colossals, so Starro, AM, Phoenix, Sentinels are legal).
Frankly, I'm thinking of changing to just do a Date of Cosmic Destruction (1000 point Anti-Monitor + 1000 point Dark Phoenix). I have some ideas on anti-Starro tactics, but wanted to fish for ideas from people here first.
(And I left my Starro at home, but I know how nasty he can be.)

You need all Battle Fury! If he can mind control your pieces, you're in trouble.
Sadly... that's not all you need (lots of luck), but I think you should stick with the Sinestro Corp team because it sounds like it would be lots of fun.
That dude might win, but if you want to mess with his head simply don't talk to him the entire match. Use a series of pointing and pantomimes to describe everything you're doing and just let your dice do the talking.

I'm actually thinking if I can win the map roll, make him do an indoor map (the Prison perhaps). Would also keep him from flying over barriers, so I could wall him in and pick off scrubs.
Either that or maybe slip a Deadman into my forces... Possession!

Jericho is better for possesion. His dial isn't so one sided as Deadman's.
If you win map roll I would go for space to cut his range. Maybe even pack shrink and take it to him... of course that depends you your team. I like the idea of having a couple of clics with Battle Fury, but the rest of his team is probably going to focus on it.
Barrier, Barrier, and more barrier. Shrunk. Deep Shadows. Block all LoS from him to you. When the barriers drop, flurry & compel (in the range of the shield disruptor).
Frankly, I think a well built Sinestro Corps team could pwn him.

Well, I defeated him. Didn't bring down Starro but I won on points. I basically focused on leaving Starro be for the most part, and just ran roughshod over the other 1000 points of his force. SCAM did a great job, and well-placed barriers kept the team safe when he got to the "I MUST FEED" clicks. It was also nice KO'ing JL Supes with two hits, neither of which was from the SCAM.
But man, Destined Destructor is just pure AWESOME. I LOVE that power, it's so sick, especially playing against the "always pushed" colossals. Here, take 2 damage you can't do anything about. O RLY YA RLY!
And I won the tourney tonight, went 2-1 (lost to a Skrull team that just had insane theme probs, beat Starro and friends as well as a Marvel mishmash team).

Keep telling us we can beat Starro and Galactus and Spectre
I've only watched or played in 3 Starro, 4 Galactus and 1 Spectre games but every one was a terrible, terrible mismatch in favor of the the Colossal figures. I've been told on the internet and at venues that the Colossals can be beat but whenever I look at their dials I just shake my head and think how much of a mismatch any constructed team faces.

Congratulations! Beating Starro is tough; his healing power is just over the top. I've managed it using a Compelled KC Superman, but I've seen plenty of other attempts fail.
SCAM is indeed nasty. Destined Destructor is insane. How did your judge rule the range aspect of Destined Destructor? From a strict reading of the power, SCAM only needs a clear line of fire... not range.

Well, all my targets were within 10 range, so it never came up. But that's a darn good point.
And technically, I did not KO Starro... I just killed the other 1000 points of figures he had in the 50 minutes allocated.
As far as SCAM goes... he's crazy front-loaded BUT if you can knock him down off the front 1/3 of his dial? He goes down like a punk. That's how the Skrulls beat me, they just teamed up and ganked him once I missed my regen roll (I KO'd about 400 points of Skrulls, and then the last action they managed to knock him out).
I could have phased away, but that would have been unsporting, at least to me (besides, I already had Harvey Dent so I wasn't worried about having the figure).

Sounds like a lot of fun. I have played against Galactus several times and can not beat him on an outdoor map. Just pulse waves the #### out of me.

I've yet to see a Galactus or Spectre lose to anything other than a Galactus.
Starro should be possible to defeat if you can deal enough damage to it (or keep it from effectively hitting you). Once Starro gives up theme team and risks losing map choice, I think the higher point games can really hurt it.
