So what are your top 5 Marvel stories? Here are mine:
1. Inhumans by Jae Lee and Paul Jenkins
2. Infinity Gauntlet by Starlin
3. Dr. Strange "the Oath" by Vaughn
4. Riot at Xaviers! by Morrison
5. Marvel Boy by Morrison
There's also a list in the DC category. Thanks!

1. Dark Phoenix Saga (for me, from Uncanny X-Men 94 to 137) Claremont before he became a hack of himself and Byrne when he cared. The story just kept going in unanticipated directions and really developed the characters.
2. Avengers Korvac Saga- the Avengers story that showcased them as the premier team of Marvel, showed both cosmic and regular heroes where they earned that name.
3. Squadron Supreme- maybe the best Justice League story ever. Gruenwald's crown jewel.
4. Infinity Gauntlet (including the Silver Surfer run and Thanos 2 issue series leading up to Infinity Gauntlet). Great cosmic level story that kept turning it up to 11, then 12 then 13 (ala Spinal Tap)
5. Daredevil, the Frank Miller run. A truly bold new take on storytelling for Marvel.

Everyone always talks about the original Squadron Supreme, I def. got to pick that up. Ultimates Vol 1 almost made my list but Marvel Boy kicked it out of there.

Avengers/Defenders War
Secret War 1
Simonson's Thor
Nocenti's Daredevil Run
Miller's 1st Daredevil Run
Dark Pheonix Sage
Alias
1st 50 issues or so of Thunderbolts
Ghost Rider2099 after Velez started writing it

Reason: forgot Thor
no trees were killed in the sending of this message, but a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced.
Death of Gwen Stacy and Green Goblin (I could just list this story 5 times, but...)
Captain America 153 - 155 (I think) Real Cap vs. the insane 1950s Cap
Captain Marvel - Jim Starlin's first run
Secret Wars (The first mini-series - not the Nick Fury wars)
The Kid Who Collected Spider-Man
Everyone always talks about the original Squadron Supreme, I def. got to pick that up.
The art is a little dated, but the story is decades ahead of its time.

Heh, Marvel Boy almost made my list as well. Great minds think alike.

By Marvel Boy, are you referring to the Noh-varr mini-series from 2000? If so, I never read that. Has it ever been collected in a GN? It must be good, so I gotta check it out.
I actually collected the original Squadron Supreme 12 issues series when it was new back when I was in college. Amazing how applicable that story is today.
