I believe that Jake will get something done and i still play the game but it seems like Jake says big news is coming soon....on every post. It would make me feel better if he just said big news next month. Keeps everyone hoping i guess but still a little frustrating every post when there isn't big news. What do you guys think.

soon means anytime between now and later, without specifying an exact date.

In all seriousness, "Soon" in the business world usually mean with 3-4 weeks. One of the hardest adjustments I had to make going from college to the corporate world is the expanded time scale.

In the miniature "industry" , "soon" usually means months (6 to 18) and sometimes "never". :D
At least,that's my experience when contacting painters for example. :P

If the guys I think of were trying to buy/relaunch Heroclix,you'd see news every day and you could expect to play the game with the children of your children. :D

To Jake: You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Even if a new owner is all lined up to buy the HC brand (and associated licenses, etc.) and the checks were signed and cashed, etc....there would be good (IMO) reasons to delay:

The new owner has to actually figure out how to make money with the Brand! A LOT of us have been arm-chair Quarterbacking the "profitability" of Heroclix, but most of this has been (again, IMO) rose-tinted perception of the economic reality of the game of the last two years.

The new owners will be able to sell just about anything to some of us...(which is what I think the 2.007 set strategy was!) but they need to figure a way to sell A LOT of product to A LOT of new buyers...and the best way to do that is to make new buyers into new players.

Whatever strategy the new ownership adopts, I expect that they are going to put more thought into it than the commonly chanted "just release Hammer of Thor!" refrain. If it were that easy, or that profitable, Topps would have released it themselves, without AP support or the like.

In most cases I believe that "soon" was usually accompanied by other words, like "hope".
I would be willing to bet an amount of money I don't have that Jake hopes he can have some more and/or big news soon, but that doesn't mean he will. I am also resonably sure that he expected some news in most of these cases, but there are details that may keep popping up that slow things down.

That's inconceivable!

I think that there are too many lawyers in the world...most of what keep great things like this from happening faster is the need to get all of their ducks in a row...

The sooner all of the non-fun related #### is taken care of thy can start with the business of making clix. That'll be fun for us and $$ for them...a fair trade in my opinion!

Soon is an unspecified time. If he wanted to give something more exact he would. Stop crying and just have a little bit of patience. We have waited this long with news that has been trickling in, we are going to wait longer.

I am also fairly certain that all of us who are still waiting at this point are in it for the long haul so stop pretending like you are going to all of a sudden drop the game, or like the game even less.

There is no reason why Jake should have to report anything to us. We are just fortunate enough to have someone who knows the fan base and understands what it takes to keep Heroclix going. Whether he is telling us soon or on April 19, 2009 at 3:47pm right after he took out the trash but before he starts cleaning the windows, just be more positive.

That ends my rant.

Actually according to dictionary.com soon means "within a short period after this or that time, event", so I'm not crying and i have had patience but when i see that word I expect what it means. Also I have no idea where you got that "I'm going to drop the game," I have never said that nor plan on doing that. I am also thrilled that Jake is giving us info but I'm just bringing up the misuse of the word soon. I believe "Keep things going Jake" is also fairly positive.
