Durin the storyline of Avengers Luminati we saw Reed Richards, BlackBolt ,Namor , Iron man , Professor X and Doc strange gather the infinity gems and then Reed try to wish the gaunlet and gems away and did'nt so they all took one of the gems each... Now the question is Black Bolt was a skrull did the skrull take it or does black bolt still have it? The baxter buliding slipped into the negative zone so does that mean Reed's gem is off in the negative zone? Namor blew parts of alantis up so did the gem become lost? Did Tony/ Iron man had so much happen to him where did his go? Professor X got killed again did he pass it on to someone? Doc strange has had it rough to.... So what happened to the gaunlet and will it ever come back besides in What if? books... What do you guys think?

This happened in the cross-overs of the 90s with Marvel/DC.

But the funny thing about the now dead Darkseid having the Infinity Gauntle,t is that it does not work in the DCU!

The fact that Marvel once again chose to ignore continuity and retcon the fate of the Infinity Gems in the Illuminati book was one of the final straws (along with Spidey's Brand New Day) that got me to stop reading most of their books.

It wasn't like the continuity of the gems and the gauntlet were hidden away in some obscure, mostly missed issue of some third tier Marvel publication. No, it was chronicled rather largely in a major company wide crossover. But even though the fate of the gems was laid out pretty plainly, Marvel still decided to retcon the Illuminati into the story of the gems and muck things up.

So you ask, "Where are the gems?" I don't even think the editors at Marvel know at this point. Sooner or later Jim Starlin, or maybe Keith Giffen, will come up with something and get the story done right, but until then our fate lies in the hands of Brian Michael Bendis. Gods help us.

This is something the was so large and huge thu the 90's and now it just disappears except for in what if books unless bendis is bringin it out at the end of dark reign. Cause thier is a opening for it in the FF dark reign series since reed is goin back thu probablites that could change the outcome of s.i. but who knows for sure

Since he seems to ignore storylines that he doesn't like in a willy-nilly fashion, I respond in kind.

See, this could be a positive use of continuity - have some minor baddie from, like, the Annihilation Wave storyline figure out that some of the Gems are unaccounted for, and start tracking them down. Even *one* Gem could turn a second-stringer into a legitimate threat...

Ahh the fate of the Gems ... Well Reed and the Illuminati did assemble the gems .. The Tribunal did rule that they where to never work together .. but he isnt powerfule enough to enforce it because they did work and reed used the glove to try and make them vanish .. it didnt work. He then divied the gems amongst the Illuminati and had them Hide them. There fates after that is as of yet unkown. From reading marvel Previews I believe that the gem that was in Black bolts possetion was barried in atilan and will soon be discovered and uncoverd by Lockjaw who will use it in the upcoming Pet Avengers story line ( im not kidding ) . The gems have a natural urge to come together and are actually very easy to gather the more you have. I believe the Illuminati story line was just written and left open on purpose to be a jumping off point for later events ...

at one time i considered the idea of Spidey getting the gauntlet to put right what Dark Reign puts wrong .. and fixing things with his timeline and life . I doubt that now .. i still see Spidey being the big savior.
