The Gantlet of Super-Villains
(From Flash #155, SEP 1965)
Story: John Broome
Art: Carmine Infantino & Joe Giella
Many of Flash's Rogue's Gallery escape. They all meet up at the costume maker and decided they were all mysteriously freed in a similiar manner. They decide to team up and defeat the Flash together. Barry faces them and loses, initially but escapes in the end. Barry detected a weird radiation and followed it to the city zoo's gorilla cage. Barry thought nothing of it because (as I know you are thinking what I am thinking) Grodd is safely secured in a prison in Gorilla City.
Shortly after Barry runs to Gorilla City to check in on Grodd's cage, Solovar contacts him via telepathy to warn him that Grodd has indeed switched his mind into the body of Central City's gorilla, Freddy.
We learn that Grodd released the Rogues and was going to use them in his world-conquering plot. Flash defeated the Rogues, and s he was about to be beat by Grodd, the female companion of Freddy distracted Grodd with an attack. The distraction allowed Barry to finish Grodd and return eerything to normal.
Quicksilver
(From National Comics #67, AUG 1948)
The Wasp, an inventor, wanted his fair share of the profits from the sellign of his inventions. The greedy executive used the contract to keep the Wasp from getting paid his fair share even while another executive thought that the Wasp should get a fair cut.
The Wasp used his inventions to create a flying suit using wasp-like wings and a hypodermic needle with a poison as his "sting".
The Wasp attacked the greedy executive with his poison, killing him. Quicksilver (better known today as Max Mercury) happened to be in the area and investigated with the police. Quicksilver got on the trail of the Wasp and followed him to the other executive's home (the one who wanted to be fair) to seek more revenge.
During a scuffle with Quicksilver, The Wasp broke one of his wings and accidentally injected himsel with his poison sting. The Wasp died almost instantly.
The story ended with Quicksilver giving the other executive the moral of the story...that the antidote for greed is generosity.

The Face Behind the Mask
(from the Flash #122, AUG 1961)
Story: John Broome
Art: Carmine Infantino & Joe Giella
The Silver Mask, the current teen musical sensation, wore a silver mask while on stage. We learn he does this to disguise his identity from his former gang which he was pressed into joining when younger. One of his former compadres in the "Zulu Kings" learned of this and exploited the Silver Mask to commit crimes while raking it in from the ticket office.
Silver Mask was a fan of Kid Flash and Wally West was a fan of Silver Mask. The Silver Mask found a way to send a hidden message to the Kid Flash through one of his songs. The Kid Flash intervened and stopped the gang and saved the Silver Mask's career.

Art: Ralph Mayo
Johnny Chambers was sent to the cover an annual tribute to Paul Bunyan, Legendary Hero of Lumberjacks in the north woods town of Hurricane Creek.
A group of thugs used the event and an explosion to cover their bank robbery job. They didn't count on Johnny Chambers reciting, "3X2(9YZ)4A!" and turning into the super-speedster Johnny Quick. Johnny used his super speed to mimmick the powers of Paul Bunyan and capture the thugs and return the loot. Johnny Quick became the verbal legend of the town, replacing Paul Bunyan.

The Tale of the Three Tokens
Art: Carmine Infantino
An old man had given out three gifts to strangers. One of these strangers was Jay Garrick. It seems a man invented a time machine. Somehow the villainous Thinker and his gang of thugs got a hold of the time machine. Each of the trinkets the old man (time machine inventor) handed out helped those people in some way when tragedy befell them via the Thinker and gang. The Flash ended up stopping the gang. As he was finishing with them the old inventor was destroying his time machine.

Dr. Magnus created the Metal Men to combat the creature. The Metal Men succeeded but at the cost of their own artificial lives.

The Weather Wizard Blows up a Storm
(From Flash #145, JUN 1964)
Story: Gardner Fox
Art: Carmine Infantino & Joe Giella
Iris West is attending a school science fair, as a reporter, where a student built a weather predicting machine. The student predicts snow in late June gaining the laughter of those attending the fair. Iris goes off to meet Barry.
The Weather Wizard, in fact, creates snow to cover for a robbery. Just before dinner Iris gets a call from the office telling her about the freakish weather. Barry, as the Flash, bumped into Iris on her way to the snow story. Barry thought he would beat her to the punch and tell her the Weather Wizard caused the snow. Iris retorted that a student had predicted it with his science project. Flash and the student collaborated to figure out the next weather pattern that would be caused.
The Flash eventually beat the Weather Wizard with the help of the student. It seems the student lived near the Weather Wizard’s hideout and predicted the weather when the Weather Wizard tested it before his capers.
Overall I liked many of the stories presented here. Some seemed a little childish but I tried to turn on the out-of-date filter and just enjoy some fun stories. I bought this book for $2.00 at a local comic book show. It is a pretty good reader copy but very fragile (like most 80 or 100 page giants from that time). I loved the Infantino art as it really took one back that time period.
