The great temptation of a deal. (Star Trek Movie Toys)
This past week I was at my local Wal-Mart and I saw the Star Trek figures. I always glance at them because I enjoyed the movie so much but I don't really get down with the lack of Shatner.
Then I noticed that they had been marked down from 12 to 5 (Canadian) and this had happened no matter what the original price for all the figures. This actually made me almost spend everything I had on me on them before recollecting myself and stopping.
Something that you have only a mild interest in will become a key collectible with enough percent off.
It's funny though, in the minutes of debate I thought of having to go to Toys R Us for Spock and the playset and how I'd have to get a new light for the correct display and it would have ended up being a 100 dollar venture probably.
That's my little story, thought I'd share it.

My parents are getting this way with clothing and even groceries. About a month ago we were going to the Braum's near our house (think "much crappier Dairy Queen with a microscopic grocery store attached," and you'd be in the right ball park). We needed one thing: milk. But my mom had a coupon in which it was $5 off any purchase of ten dollars or more. So, we COULD'VE just spent the less than $5 for the milk and left, but instead, mom bought a bunch of stuff that I don't think any of use ended up eating, so the purchase could end up being over ten dollars so she could use the coupon. *facepalm*

Yeah my Mom does that too. We'll go to Sobey's and she'll figure since we're already there we'll buy some groceries that won't get touched because noone's home enough to eat them all. Crazy mothers.

My dad did it today clothes shopping. He wants a new belt, but there's some special deal where if you spend a hundred dollars tomorrow, you get $25 off. So he's going to just try to find random things to get it up to a hundred, so he can save that $25.

It is not as bad as people who go to store closing sales that are buying items at 10-15% off but could have bought it for 20-30% off (or more) if they actually shopped at the store when it was fully in business.
The store closing only works on things that do not regularly go on sale, namely video game systems and ipods mostly.
Edit: I once bought these Youngblood bendy figures from Kay-bee toys because they were on clearance. (I think) Now they are just sitting in my room somewhere not appreciating in value.

Everything always comes out of the package for me. Everything must be enjoyed. Toys are so fun though as you grow older, taking them out of the package and making funny sounds with your mouth as you go on an adventure of the mind, the nostalgia never dies.
