My Team's Better Than Your Team Random Round 2, Game 4
In the past, Gargantua and I have committed to some big single elimination tournaments to see who was best team in Clix. We determined the best team at 300 points (Defenders), 500 points (Avengers) and 800 points (JSA). Well we're at it again, but this time to make things interesting we're randomizing the point values to see which team is best - at any point value.
Teams must still be able to field 800 points in named figures, no dupes to qualify. Only those figures with the TA on their base may be used, so Hypertime U Flash can't be on the JSA team, but the AA version of him can.
After an initial battle of 32 teams we've widdled it down to 16 contenders:
Gargantua will be playing: Avengers, Legion, SHIELD, Hypertime, 2000AD, GLC, Defenders, Mystics
Flyingicarus will be playing: JLA, Brotherhood, X-Men, Titans, Sinister Syndicate, FF, Skrulls, Batman Enemies
Point value of each game will be determined by random die roll, 1d6 +2, x100 for a range of 300-800. No feats will be used
Only one character per team, the one with the highest point value, will be able to use the TA (to keep teams like Mystics and Bat Allies from being too annoying). If he's KOd, then the highest point figure remaining picks up the TA. For teams that require two members to work (like Sinister Syndicate) any piece may be used to trigger the ability, but only the highest point figure may actually use it.
Onto round 2
Game 1: The Skrulls just edged out the Green Lantern Corps.
Game 2: The Mystics lost their magic and lost to the Titans.
Game 3: Sinister Syndicate vs AD2000 in a thread near you.
Game 4: Right here and now, the Fantastic Four take on the Avengers!
"Welcome to Superhero Day here in New York City!" the announcer says in a very filled Central Park.
"Very soon we'll have the Fantastic Four and Avengers come out for you all!".
Hidden behind the curtain Captain America turns to Mr. Fantastic. "Do you have anything?" Cap asks.
Mr. Fantastic looks at his device. "Nothing. I came here early for an interview for Superhero Day."
"Me too," Cap replies, "Stands to reason that something happened since we've left."
"Did you hear?" a worker interrupts, "There's a big battle going on over the thruway!".
"Where? Which one?" Reed asks.
"The I-87!".
"We'll never make it out of this mob," Cap says, "So let's figure out how we're going to do this."
Meanwhile the Thing stands ahead of the Invisible Woman, Human Torch, Alicia Masters and Gee of Power Pack. "Alright Skrulls, we're gonna whoop your butts for mimicking our friends and wrecking our day!".
"Okay, hothead, you got first strike, but you left yoursefl wide open for a Hawkeye special." The archer ran forward, all the while smoothly selecting an arrow, nocking it and firing it. It hit the torch, releasing a cryogenic spray freezing the Torch and momentarily dousing his flame.
"You don't mess with the Avengers, dude," Hawkeye told him.
Johnny's trait means that figures next to him last turn, and himself, do not take pushing damage. That means Sue, Gee & Johnny can take a turn again not pushing them nor counting towards my total moves.
Trouble is---I can't do much with this.
Alicia to N21.
Johnny will get the benefit of the FF ta (as he and Ben have the same cost).
The Thing (FF starter) L23
Gee K23
Sue Storm LE I17 (stealthed)
Johnny Storm (FF) (3) K15
Alicia Masters @ N21
"Don't worry about me. I'm fine. Your flames won't do you any good if I'm moving too fast for them to touch me," Quicksilver said to Johnny Storm, running up and hammering repeatedly on the Human Torch, ultimately forcing the Torch to retreat off the bridge to get away from the speedster.
That Super Senses roll may well make or break this game.
Quicksilver takes advantage of his new lease on life and pushes to HSS to J17 to attack Sue, AV9 on DV19. Gets 7. He takes 1, ends in K17. Mainly that was to get him out of the way so the others could attack the Thing.
Panther Outwits Thing's Invulnerable.
Vision Perplexes the Thing's DV down to 17
Hawkeye on the Thing, AV9 +2 on DV17 +1. Gets 7. 3 to the Thing.
Vision on the Thing. AV10 on DV17. Gets 6. Rerolls for Wanda. Gets 3.
Hawkeye (AV) @ N6
Quicksilver (AV) @@ K17 (1!)
Scarlet Witch (AV) M2
R Songbird L2 (3!)
Victor Shade @ K6 (stealth)
R Black Panther L4 (stealth)
"Sorry 'Thing'. A lumbering brute like you has no hope of hitting someone as fast as me!" Quicksilver said, taking leave of the Thing and running over to where the Invisible Woman stood.
"And someone like you has no chance of getting through my force field," Sue told him, repelling him with more force than strictly necessary.
"Hoo boy, the Thing," Hawkeye said. "Let's see what I've got in my bag of tricks that can handle someone like him. Let's see how an electro-shock arrow does against him."
"YEEOWTCH!" Ben yelped as the arrow sent a charge through his body.
"Hm, pretty well, actually!" Hawkeye said, pleased with himself.
