Okay, new "game". For those of you that don't know how this works...
I'm going to display a picture, below. I will then provide text, as though it were from an old text adventure game. You will provide a command that you would like to see the character use. For example, something like, "Get Key" or "Punch robot in the face". I will then semi-randomly select the command out of the ones given, and draw the result. Then we repeat the process.
A few ground rules:
1. Obviously, in drawing this, I must comply with the rules of the forum. Do not ask for things that I obviously am unable to draw.
2. Be silly, but not too silly. Sometimes we'll be lax on suggestions, and I don't want to have to choose from 2 commands that mean certain death for our character.
3. Anything that you type here, I treat as a suggested command. If you want to discuss with your fellow "players", please use parenthesis or some other designation, so I know.
4. Only one suggested command per "screen". If you would like to change what you had wanted, please go back and edit your post. This makes it easier for me to see what you really want. After all, I'm trying to create something you want, and will enjoy.
5. I don't have a 5th ground rule. But if I ended on 4, that'd just look silly.
WTF FAQ:
Q: WTF is this? Why are you doing this?
A: I'm actually attempting to learn how to draw lately. Which has been a very slow process, as I have no natural talent for it at all. However, I'm not new to fictional writing or creative thinking, much less manipulating software to do my bidding. So in order to give this a little drive, I'm doing something that really pulls me in. After viewing MSPA, and seeing all sorts of fan-made MSPA adventures on their forums, I decided to try one here. The first one can be found in the Arcade forum, which went in a direction I didn't think would remain fun. So I'm doing a new one here, with less plot and basis.
Q: How are you doing this?
A: I'm using GIMP, which is an open-source version of Photoshop, basically. I'm also using a digital tablet. Layered drawings are essential for something like this. Moving around an inventory in MS Paint is absolutely ridiculous. Moving it around in GIMP, when each item is a layer of its own? That's cake. Cake and ice cream. Also, it allows me to do some fun animations every now and then. You might be seeing some of that early on, actually.
Q: When are you doing updates?
A: When I feel like it, honestly. I'm not doing this for anything other than fun. Obviously, I cannot do any updates while I'm at work. I will try and put some up over my lunch periods some days, but some days I won't. Most updates will occur at night. Weekends, anything goes. You could see an update at 5 AM on Saturday. There's no telling.
Q: Who's your inspiration for this?
A: A guy named Andrew Hussie. He's the one that created MSPA. He's done stuff all over the place. Even did some artwork for Penny Arcade. Some of the stuff I'm doing, I got ideas from his FAQ's and so forth.
Q: Are you going to get really serious about this?
A: Heavens, no. As will be plainly evident early on, I am a terrible artist. The arts fields have become absolutely saturated with actually talented artists. I'm doing this for my fun, and for your fun. And we'll all do it for free.
