My Team's Better Than Your Team Random Round 2, Game 7
In the past, Gargantua and I have committed to some big single elimination tournaments to see who was best team in Clix. We determined the best team at 300 points (Defenders), 500 points (Avengers) and 800 points (JSA). Well we're at it again, but this time to make things interesting we're randomizing the point values to see which team is best - at any point value.
Teams must still be able to field 800 points in named figures, no dupes to qualify. Only those figures with the TA on their base may be used, so Hypertime U Flash can't be on the JSA team, but the AA version of him can.
After an initial battle of 32 teams we've widdled it down to 16 contenders:
Gargantua will be playing: Avengers, Legion, SHIELD, Hypertime, 2000AD, GLC, Defenders, Mystics
Flyingicarus will be playing: JLA, Brotherhood, X-Men, Titans, Sinister Syndicate, FF, Skrulls, Batman Enemies
Point value of each game will be determined by random die roll, 1d6 +2, x100 for a range of 300-800. No feats will be used
Only one character per team, the one with the highest point value, will be able to use the TA (to keep teams like Mystics and Bat Allies from being too annoying). If he's KOd, then the highest point figure remaining picks up the TA. For teams that require two members to work (like Sinister Syndicate) any piece may be used to trigger the ability, but only the highest point figure may actually use it.
Onto round 2
Game 1: The Skrulls just edged out the Green Lantern Corps.
Game 2: The Mystics lost their magic and lost to the Titans.
Game 3: Sinister Syndicate vs AD2000 in a thread near you.
Game 4: The Avengers overwhelmed the Fantastic Four.
Game 5: The Batman Enemies just beat Hypertime.
Game 6: The JLA take on the agents of SHIELD in another thread!
Game 7: Right here and now, the Defenders vs. the Brotherhood!

"No offense, Stephen, I know the Defenders are generally more of a loose affiliation of heroes than a true team, but this erratic conglomeration outdoes even their usual incongruousness," the Beast said.
"No offense taken," Dr. Strange replied. "I have had to summon heroes from throughout space, time, and other dimensions to counter the present threat."
"The full spectrum, if you will," Dr. Spectrum put in. Hank groaned at the pun.
"Magneto and his Brotherhood of Mutants? Shouldn't that be the X-Men's problem?" the Sub-Mariner sulked.
"Believe me Subby, Magneto is everyone's problem," the Beast shook his head.
"Even in the far-flung future, we have heard tell of his crimes," Yondu said solemnly.
"Indeed. We will help," Starhawk agreed.
"Well, we haven't heard of him during World War II, but count me in," Spitfire said.
"And you know that I am ever available at your call," the Silver Surfer said.
"And the same goes for me, without saying," Clea said, putting her hand in Strange's.
"Okay, then let's kick some evil mutant butt," the Beast said.
My objects are supposed to be R12-14. Somehow I messed those up.
Hopefully you won't mind my changing them before we get too far.
Mastermind to R15.
Black Tom to R13.
Fabian rolls for perplex: 6. Nice but not needed right now.

Of course you can switch your objects. I thought they looked a little odd. And speaking of which, you probably made the same mistake at least with Mastermind. Don't know about Tom - he could be fine where he is. Mastermind can't even get to R15, what with the walls there.
Nothing for me to do but clear all my guys.

You and your dang Barriers. Well, it's not insurmountable.
Yondu RS to J14, shoots the Barrier in Q14
OWK to K14, taxiing Clea to J15
Beast to I11, kicking down the wall there.
Surfer HSS, grabs Beast, flies to Q14 to attack Mastermind, AV10 on DV16. Gets 10. Super Senses is 6. Surfer ends Q15, Beast in Q17
Spitfire to Q14 to attack Mastermind. AV9 on DV16. Gets 8. Super Senses is 2. Either Mastermind takes 2 or he gives it to Black Tom

"Avalanche has put up a wall protecting them," the Beast said.
"If he thinks that will be a hindrance, he does not know Yondu's skill with a bow," Starhawk said. He looked to his fellow Guardian of the Galaxy. The taciturn Yondu nodded, moved forward and spotted a weak point in Avalanche's wall. A well placed arrow caused a small part of it to collapse, but it was enough.
"Come, loath as I am to fight, they must be stopped. Let us take advantage of the opportunity that Yondu has given us," the Silver Surfer said, flashing forward.
Mastermind saw him coming and cast an illusion to make the Surfer think he had moved. As a result the Surfer's attack missed. Unfortunately for the Brotherhood, Spitfire was right behind him and she wasn't fooled.
Mastermind couldn't mm to Tom, he's not adjacent. But actually he should be. Mastermind was unable to actually move to R15 where I had him, he should be R14. I'm placing him there and having him mm to Tom. If you disagree with that, we'll figure out a plan B.
Fabian rolls 1 for perplex.
Destiny to U13.
Little options for me except to have Mastermind try to mc Starhawk. He'll outwit his pc and hope for the best. Needs 7, rolls 8. Ummmm.....nice. Starhawk phases to V11.
Magneto rolls to attack him. Needs 5, rolls 3. Destiny rerolls 6. 5 to Starhawk.
Sabretooth vs. Starhawk. Needs 6, rolls 9. BCF is 5. Sorry, except for Magneto's flub it was a perfect maneuver.
Tom barriers Q11-14.
Sadly for me Starhawk's only a mid-level threat on your force.
I think the Defenders are the better team (certainly one of the best) but there's no denying the cool new figures of the Brotherhood.

"I'll wager that had to hurt," Mastermind says to Black Tom Cassidy. "Let's see if I can help even the score."
Starhawk sees Mastermind running.
"I have you in my sights," Starhawk says. He then bumps into Magneto.
"And I have you in mine," Magneto says. He blasts his with a pure, magnetic force.
"Don't be an action pig, Maggs," Sabretooth says as he readies to strike.
"And thus it ends," Starhawk says sensing the end.
Destiny also has a flash, "This is the end of the line for Starhawk," she says. Then she adds a foreboding warning, "It will not come without Brotherhood blood."
I was playing my turn as if Mastermind were in R14.
However that brings up a problem with your turn. Namely, Spitfire's right in Mastermind's face in Q14. If he goes after anyone, it's going to have to be her unless you can get rid of her first or somehow move Mastermind to another square that's not adjacent to her and yet still with LOF to Starhawk. I don't see any way for that last happening, but not going to 100% rule it out.
Oh sure, go ahead and screw up my wonderful and lucky turn.
I also don't see how I can do the turn as it was.
I guess I shouldn't be greedy, can I do the same to Spitfire?
Mastermind rolls to mc her. Needs 5, rolls 10. She runs to P15 attacks Beast, needs 7, rolls 8, 1 to him, she ends at V11.
Magneto on Spitfire. Needs 5, rolls 8. 5 to her.
Sabretooth on Spitfire. Needs 5, rolls 8. BCF is 6. Wasted. She's down. A decent trade for Starhawk, though.
Mastermind outwits Starhawk's pc.
