My Team's Better Than Your Team Random Round 2, Game 8
In the past, Gargantua and I have committed to some big single elimination tournaments to see who was best team in Clix. We determined the best team at 300 points (Defenders), 500 points (Avengers) and 800 points (JSA). Well we're at it again, but this time to make things interesting we're randomizing the point values to see which team is best - at any point value.
Teams must still be able to field 800 points in named figures, no dupes to qualify. Only those figures with the TA on their base may be used, so Hypertime U Flash can't be on the JSA team, but the AA version of him can.
After an initial battle of 32 teams we've widdled it down to 16 contenders:
Gargantua will be playing: Avengers, Legion, SHIELD, Hypertime, 2000AD, GLC, Defenders, Mystics
Flyingicarus will be playing: JLA, Brotherhood, X-Men, Titans, Sinister Syndicate, FF, Skrulls, Batman Enemies
Point value of each game will be determined by random die roll, 1d6 +2, x100 for a range of 300-800. No feats will be used
Only one character per team, the one with the highest point value, will be able to use the TA (to keep teams like Mystics and Bat Allies from being too annoying). If he's KOd, then the highest point figure remaining picks up the TA. For teams that require two members to work (like Sinister Syndicate) any piece may be used to trigger the ability, but only the highest point figure may actually use it.
Onto round 2
Game 1: The Skrulls just edged out the Green Lantern Corps.
Game 2: The Mystics lost their magic and lost to the Titans.
Game 3: Sinister Syndicate vs AD2000 in a thread near you.
Game 4: The Avengers overwhelmed the Fantastic Four.
Game 5: The Batman Enemies just beat Hypertime.
Game 6: The JLA came out ahead of the agents of SHIELD.
Game 7: The Defenders vs. the Brotherhood take in another thread.
Game 8: Right here and now, the Legion of Superheroes vs. the X-Men!
"This is something I've rarely done," Charles Xavier telepathically informs the nine heroes in front of him. "These 'Legion of Superheroes' have beaten Lilandra's imperial guard. They must be stopped."
"Fair enough, Professor, and of course I'm happy to lead this team," says Cyclops, "Even if it's an odd mix."
"Not so odd," Jean says putting her hand on his shoulder, "To start, what are the X-Men without a few telepaths."
Psylocke chimes in, "To be without would be sacrilege."
"Sarcasm notwithstanding," Professor Xavier says, "You are correct. The natural force of a Havok or Storm are also part and parcel of this team I've built."
"Not to mention Polaris," Lorna Dane chimes in.
"Indeed not," Xavier continues, "And we've the good fortune of having Domino on hand for fighting skill and plain old' 'good luck'".
"Charmed," she says.
"Any questions?" the Professor asks.
"No question," Iceman says, 'But a statement...".
"What's that, Bobby?".
"Only that Wolverine's gonna be irked to miss out on this."
"You're probably right," he says, "Maybe it's best we not tell him."
"Phew, that Imperial Guard was quite a workout," Karate Kid said, wiping his brow.
"That's true. Did anyone else sense something eerily familiar about them? Cosmic Boy asked.
"I don't know what you mean," Wildfire said.
Cosmic Boy just shrugged. "I don't know. I just almost felt like I was fighting some weird mirror version of ourselves."
"They certainly did a job on us," Lightning Lad said. "Imra's taken the rest of the wounded back to the 30th century. That just leaves the five of us left to help you, Kal."
"I appreciate your willingness to help," Superboy said. "I hope it'll be enough."
Oh I agree. I think the X-Men are probably the best made team out there. Their only problem is no Superman/Thor types. Of course who needs a Thor when you can field four durable figures in this place?
Storm flies Psylocke to I12, she's I11.

"A group called the X-Men," Superboy said, looking through the walls wit his X-ray vision. "They're supposed to be heroes, I think, but if that's the case, why are they trying to stop us?"
"Does it matter?" Karate Kid asked. "If we have to fight them, then we'll fight them."
"Val's right," Lightning Lad said. "The mission's too important. We beat this Imperial Guard. Surely we can beat these guys."
"Don't get overconfident," Cosmic Boy warned him. "We'll fight them, and we'll do our best. But just assuming we'll win is the best way to lose."
"Yes, mother," Lightning Lad laughed, and the Legion moved out.
Karma tries to mc Lightning Lad. Needs 7, rolls 4. Domino rerolls 8. Lightning Lad on Cos. Needs 7, gets 3.
Lorna tks Iceman to G17.

"Sorry Rokk, wasn't in control there," Lightning Lad apologized.
"It's fine. But we'd better strike hard and fast here before they pull more of the same," Cosmic Boy said. "You ready Kal?"
"Of course," Superboy said.
"Garth, can you take care of that ice wall?"
"Sure," Lightning Lad said blasting a large hole in it. Cosmic Boy catapulted Superboy through the hole and Superboy flew at Storm.
"Watch it, Storm!" Psylocke said. She pulled Storm out of the way while at the same time using her telepathy to keep Superboy from reacting to her move. Superboy slammed headfirst into the generator at full speed. The crash sounded like a train wreck.
"Ooh," Iceman said, wincing and turning away. "That had to hurt."
Cyke will rs to B10 attacking Young Superman. Needs 8 + 1, rolls 3. Rerolls 7.
Domino on Superboy. Needs 7 + 1, rolls 8. 1 to him after toughness.
Storm needs 7 to hit Superman, rolls 7. 1 more to him.
Karma seems an easy target. I'll push her to mc Superboy. Needs 5, rolls 11. Karma takes a pushing click.
He'll fly to E16.
Havok on Superboy. Needs 6, rolls 7. He's out.
